We don't know that at all - remember Trump is well known for destroying documents.

He wasn't even there. He has had these documents for what 18 months. If he were going to destroy documents He has had plenty of time. They could have gotten these documents without all the drama.

I'm not saying they shouldn't get the documents that belong in the archive. I just disagree with the method they used.

I don’t see much coming out of this, my reasoning being Rudy was raided a while back if you remember and it turned out to not being the evidence they hoped for and dropped the investigation into whether he didn’t register about foreign something or other.

He had no business taking those documents at all. He broke the law in January 2021 and should prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

You cant negotiate with a known liar and a immoral person who doesn't care about the truth. For Trump everything is about him looking like a rose and doesn't care about facts or details or the truth. A person like Trump is not someone the DOJ can have an honest negotiation for documents and expect the 100% honest response.

What conclusion? That he was in New York? Or that they didn't need all that firepower and dramatics?
That they didn't need to raid this way. Generally that's done when there's a concern about destruction of evidence. Now we all know Trump personally routinely destroyed documents so it's not at all implausible to think he may have directed staff to destroy documents if he had been warned ahead of time.

There's just no way to know without knowing what they were going for and why.

Story just came out with pictures showing Trump flushed documents down the toilet.

Think that could have increased the urgency?

Trumps lawyers were doing the negotiating, not Trump from what was reported.

The amount of notice people seem to think appropriate when law enforcement conducts a search really seems to vary dramatically with the complexion of the subject, average home price of the neighborhood, and the number of zeros in their net worth. This is not specific to posts here, just a general observation from people complaining online.

Like when a lot of the 1/6 people encountered a jail for the first time and found out it really sucks and is abusive/arbitrary/unfair. Too many people in this country are quite comfortable being on the wielding end of the stick.

Hopefully we will know more in time.

What this? Looks serious. 🙄
It could be anything. A hand written note in a toilet of unknown unproven pedigree... From someone selling a book.

And if it turns out that some critical classified information was compromised by his actions what then?

If you or I were being served a warrant by the FBI we would most likely find out about it when they kicked in the front door and we would be leaving in cuffs.

Compared to what happens to "regular folks" all the time the Dumpster was treated with kid-gloves.

One could view UBI as a means to cut or undercut targeted welfare programs altogether.

Yeah that was the quiet part of his plan. Just cut all social services and entitlement programs(I hate using that term) and give people a check and say "here you go". It sounds good out loud, but many people are probably receiving far greater benefits than those individual checks provide. Mostly in benefits that are more subtle.

UBI without single payer healthcare is pointless.
