Trump and Kim have now shaken hands...breaking

He didn't get any specifics, Yet. It is still very early.

What are the concessions?

He met with Kim. No Big Deal.

We stopped military exercises while talks are taking place. No Big Deal.

What else?

He unilaterally ended joint exercises with one of our principal allies in the region and did so without notice or consultation. If you were South Korea today how sure are you as to the status of our alliance? I wouldn’t be very sure.

That’s a very big deal and we should not hesitate to condemn Trump for giving this up for nothing. He has got to learn how to negotiate.

That is what is funny. He didn't give up anything. He met with him and cancelled a military training exercise.

Big deal huh?

I found it interesting you don't find cancelling the exercise interesting. It was announce during(or right after) the summit, Kim threatened to cancel the meeting couple weeks before the summit, China and Russia hate those exercise while the rest of the countries(US allies) along the trade route need that.

I guess you guys are right. Trump should just say fuck it and go back to what was not working (sanctions). Then history will take care of itself. When he does launch a nuclear weapon then we can just blow up the entire peninsula.

Squeeze more out, my beloved Trump - I will eat it all.

There you go. The thing is that this most recent exchange shows that there is no way to get Kim to give up his nukes. It would have been nice but sending a "rocket man" CD is a big fuck you and since that's the best "we" have we're done.

He should have. It would have saved a whole lot of time and gotten the same results and it would have been the most honest thing he's said to date.

The great negotiator at work!

‘Hey guys sanctions weren’t working. What did you expect him to do, NOT give North Korea a bunch of concessions in exchange for nothing while alienating our allies?’

But guys!!! North Korea signed a contract! They have to denuclearize the peninsula!!

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2...suggests-china-may-interfering-nuclear-talks/

“I have confidence that Kim Jong Un will honor the contract we signed &, even more importantly, our handshake,” the Trump wrote on Twitter. “We agreed to the denuclearization of North Korea. China, on the other hand, may be exerting negative pressure on a deal because of our posture on Chinese Trade-Hope Not!”

Hol-y-shit!!

Why would he launch nukes unless we were invading? Pakistan has nukes, sheltered bin Laden and I bet most people can't name what crook is running that shithole.

Trump has you all acting like pants peeing pansies just so he can gin you up, then create a photo op, claim himself a hero and bask in the applause.

Such a bullshit move, and he gave away significant American concessions to do it.

Well it's pretty obvious by now that Trump wasn't/isn't negotiating on behalf of the nation he "leads".. Instead, all he's been doing is showboating, trying to make things all about himself. Maybe Pompeo was sort of being out there on behalf of the country he represents but there's always Bolton whispering in Trump's ear saying things that Trump likes to hear. Can't wait to see Pompeo get the "Tillerson Treatment". That should be good for some giggles.

I'm rather surprised that Kushner hasn't been more involved in this NK fiasco, but it looks like he's out there in the wild representing Trump's personal financial concerns instead of the interests of the nation. He needs to be more carefully monitored seeing as if he's working those back channels more than anyone else in the administration.

You keep saying " bunch of concessions " like it has some meaning.

No Bunch Found.

"significant American concessions"

Name them.

"significant American concessions"

Name them.

Read the last several pages, even linked you a fox article laying it out. You consider them "no big deals" but that's not the consensus view.

How about you lay out a realistic scenario where NK launches nukes unprovoked.

Also explain why that doesn't apply to Pakistan, and is different than cold war USSR.

No Bunch Found.

That meaning has already been explained to you multiple times you just hand-waved it away.

Not sure why you’re so committed to defending what was obviously a dumb idea.

This story keeps getting better and better. I mean, why would KJU meet with SecState now? He only deals with Presidents! Besides, they got what they wanted, now it's back to the cycle of nuclear brinkmanship to get more concessions from the West.

I like how Pcgeek has been reduced to saying that because our current policy wouldn’t make North Korea get rid of its nukes that we might as well do something obviously stupid that weakens our position.

This is what happens when you have a president who has no idea what he is doing

No one in the Trump admin or Trump supporters could have seen it coming. The rest of the planet though? Yeah it was obvious from the start.

It is early in the process. I never claimed it was going to work only that we should give it a chance.

I like how you have been reduced to crying about everything that Trump does as stupid... It is laughable.

Nothing he has done weakens our position. What has weakened our position is not doing anything about it in decades past. When intervention could have actually stopped them from getting a nuclear warhead.
