one thing that i thought was laughable was when they were at the air and space museum in DC.

then the transformer busts outside and there is a huge desert airfield that looks like it is miles long.

then there are mountains in the background.

umm, no, that is not DC at all lol.

yeah... just a minor plothole. what's worse, i didn't even think about it :(

I haven't seen the movie, but I recall movie stills from them shooting a scene at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. It's not downtown, but west of DC.

RT has this film rated as rotten with a 20% rating. After reading some of the reviews this must be one horrible movie:

A bad film that seems like a nightmare because it is one.

No white elephants in the room. I'll be brutal. Bay's film sucks with a capital "S" and with the word enveloped in bold italics.

A perfectly dreadful sequel that's the filmic equivalent of a 150-minute waterboarding session.

Will insult your intelligence, hurt your eyes, and offend your sense of decency until you worry that your skull might explode while your brain trickles right out of your ears.

I saw Revenge of the Fallen at Imax, which is probably why I managed to stay awake in what for me was the world's most boring movie.

It's a wad of chaos puked onto the big screen, an arbitrary collection of explosions and machismo posturing.

Shrieking and ugly and tedious and soft-headed, not even giving the thin comfort of being hilariously bad.

... and my favorite:

Only an a*****e could have made this film.

Those of you who actually saw the movie ... are you sure you were in the right theater? I think I'll pass.

OK, one question for the hardcore Transformer grognards:

In the first movie the soldiers regular ammo and artillery rounds didn't have much effect on the Decepticons so they had to switch to white phosphorous rounds or whatever.

They didn't seem to have that problem in this 2nd movie. Convenient plot hole, oversight, or just a "who cares as long as there's lots of cool explosions"?

they are thinking its a michael bay movie before thinking its a transformers movie. I think those people are being too strict, they usually are. The movie was nothing but action and everyone around here seems to think that. the only thing they say that was wrong with it was that it was long.

I went to see expecting to be entertained :)

I was entertained

I don't get why people try to be uber critics with obvious popcorn blockbusters...we all know they aren't great movies, but are fun to watch.

Agreed 100%

It was a solid action movie which is all anybody should expect. Yes there are flaws... Like Megan Fox being completely useless, and just stuck in there to get the desperate guys to see it just for stare at her. The twin autobots were awkward in parts but I laughed at some of their scenes. All in all I say 8 out of 10, and I probably liked it more than the first one.

What an awful movie, it was far more than just an 'action flick', there is a ton of weight behind the transformers franchise. That 'heaven' scene is what through it completely out of the window, just awful.

I was wondering why the humans bothered shooting. Yeah, it looked cool, but nothing happened to the Decepticons until the Autobots got involved. Always.

I think he's saying what a lot of us would say. Quit being a tool and letting critics tell you what to think. See it and make up your own damned mind or don't come in here acting like you know what you're talking about from just some critic reviews. Critics are pretty well known to be completely stuck up their own asshole and there are plenty of high rated movies that I didn't enjoy at all. If you hate the movie after seeing it then fine, but don't come in here saying people who liked it are wrong when you don't even know yourself what you're talking about.

Think for yourself once in a while... you'll feel better.

I guess it takes a tool ...

Your logic states that I have to invest time AND money ... to "think" for myself. The flaw in your logic is that the time is WASTED and the money is GONE by the time I (we) have finally decided what to think about a movie.

PLEASE shut up and move along! Critics are NOT known to be stuck up their own asshole for if they were they would be OUT OF A JOB! They provide their UNBIASED reviews hoping that their readers utilize them to make decisions as to go or not go to see a movie. People who pay to see these piece-of-shit movies perpetuate the shit because they go KNOWING they are crap. I can think for myself thank you ...

What a moron ...

In the first movie the white phosphourus rounds would hit and glow/burn, it seemed like the Decepticons were just going down from regular rounds fired from M-16's and such. Just bugged me a bit but it didn't really take away from the entertertainment value, mostly wondering if anybody else even noticed it.

Some are, some aren't.

The adults can distinguish between a fun and mindless action flick and a mind-numbingly stupid abomination littered with cheap action choreography, characters we don't give a damn about, and overblown effects compensating for shallow depth.

I'm surprised any of you pro-Bay people are actually capable of thinking for yourselves. I mean...isn't that why you go to see his movies--to fill in that dull, empty hummmmmm where rational, independent thought should live?

God this movie is the worst piece of shit I've seen in a long time. It was long. It was overdone. It was absolutely dreadful. I was looking at my watch the entire time. How could Bay screw this up so badly? I can't even let Bay take all the blame. I mean the writing was a complete POS. The whole creative team should be rounded up, lined up against a wall and...let your imagination run wild.

I haven't been to the movies in awhile and I can honestly tell you I didn't miss much.

Well, most people disagree with you. So it seems they got it right.

I can't think of a single person that I've ever known personally, plus everything I've read about this turd on the web (even from the usual mouth-breathers), that disagrees with Linux. hell, even a lot of the die-hard fans of the first one feel insulted by this sequel. They are somehow...surprised that it could be bad? (I know, weird, right?)

If you honestly think "most people" love this shit, then:

1: Tell me where you live
2: remind me never to visit this cultural wasteland
3: please stay there.

:p

I saw it with 2 friends and they both liked it. The audience in my theater seemed to enjoy it, they laughed at the jokes and there was a few applause at the end.

did anyone look, and can you see my point?!

you're complaining that transformers was too..."gay" ...or something.

...rather than complain about how it was imply a wretched piece of crap, no matter what characters "ruined the experience" for you; how it should never have been made, and Bay should have been executed a decade ago to spare us the previous generation of BS that he's pooped into our culture.

obviously, you have no point.

I havent seen it yet, i cannot wait to see it. Michael Bay doesnt create award winning literature he creates films that entertain. He does well in his previous films. Its like comparing a shakespear play to a gladiator fight.

Shakespear has full character development and is well boring as a fly fucking a cat
Gladiator fights: The warriors have a weak backstory, but the entertainment is in watching them do battle.

I get it.

You guys tend to lump this and other Bay flick with other action movies (and sci-Fi action)

Terminator 1/2
Alien/Aliens
Ronin
Bond*
etc...

You mentioned Gladiator movies, so how about Gladiator? or Braveheart?

you somehow seem to think Transformers stands in the same line as these flicks. They are simply there for action and to mindlessly entertain us.

See, it's quite alright for one to be impressed and sufficiently entertained by all the shiny lights and boom-boom and boobies and more boom-boom; knock yourself the fuck out. If that's what you get out of other action flicks--great.

To think, however, that Transformers exists in that same light--that its utter refusal to expect the audience to even care about story, to care about its characters....to care about what makes a film a film, is completely asinine. It doesn't bother me or any critic in the least that you don't "get" this. No one gives a shit if you defend your meager quotient for entertainment with charges of "elitism" or "rods up asses" etc. Whatever.

We know that your kind doesn't understand film--we already know that. It is no mystery. Critics love a lot of action films. They highly praise solid flicks that treat you like a rational person should be treated (see: any film from James Cameron or Ridley Scott). We already know that you don't realize the real reason you like Die Hard is because you have become highly invested in McClain's character--you actually want to see him win. You don't know that the action is merely ancillary. See, we get it.

Telling us that we don't "get it," b/c we don't like the boom-boom not only misses the point of criticism entirely, but further exposes your naivete. To assume that explosions and fast cars only = entertainment, and that ALL movies with explosions and fast cars are equal, is patently stupid.

I like it and it seemed the rest of the crowd agreed cause they were clapping at the end of the movie. People still haven't realized by now that the only thing you can expect from a Michael Bay movie is seeing shit getting blown up, and this movie delivered. I also found this movie extremely funny when it tried to be, especially at the guy tasering himself.
