RT has this film rated as rotten with a 20% rating. After reading some of the reviews this must be one horrible movie:

** critic reviews **

Those of you who actually saw the movie ... are you sure you were in the right theater? I think I'll pass.

psshh. some of those say that it was boring. my ass hole

So what are you saying? ... that 149 of 187 professional critics are wrong ... or that your asshole is boring?

I think he's saying what a lot of us would say. Quit being a tool and letting critics tell you what to think. See it and make up your own damned mind or don't come in here acting like you know what you're talking about from just some critic reviews. Critics are pretty well known to be completely stuck up their own asshole and there are plenty of high rated movies that I didn't enjoy at all. If you hate the movie after seeing it then fine, but don't come in here saying people who liked it are wrong when you don't even know yourself what you're talking about.

Think for yourself once in a while... you'll feel better.

I guess it takes a tool ...

Your logic states that I have to invest time AND money ... to "think" for myself. The flaw in your logic is that the time is WASTED and the money is GONE by the time I (we) have finally decided what to think about a movie.

PLEASE shut up and move along! Critics are NOT known to be stuck up their own asshole for if they were they would be OUT OF A JOB! They provide their UNBIASED reviews hoping that their readers utilize them to make decisions as to go or not go to see a movie. People who pay to see these piece-of-shit movies perpetuate the shit because they go KNOWING they are crap. I can think for myself thank you ...

What a moron ...

You think critics are unbiased.... sorry, who is the moron?

did anyone look, and can you see my point?!

you're complaining that transformers was too..."gay" ...or something.

...rather than complain about how it was imply a wretched piece of crap, no matter what characters "ruined the experience" for you; how it should never have been made, and Bay should have been executed a decade ago to spare us the previous generation of BS that he's pooped into our culture.

obviously, you have no point.

I havent seen it yet, i cannot wait to see it. Michael Bay doesnt create award winning literature he creates films that entertain. He does well in his previous films. Its like comparing a shakespear play to a gladiator fight.

Shakespear has full character development and is well boring as a fly fucking a cat
Gladiator fights: The warriors have a weak backstory, but the entertainment is in watching them do battle.

I get it.

You guys tend to lump this and other Bay flick with other action movies (and sci-Fi action)

Terminator 1/2
Alien/Aliens
Ronin
Bond*
etc...

You mentioned Gladiator movies, so how about Gladiator? or Braveheart?

you somehow seem to think Transformers stands in the same line as these flicks. They are simply there for action and to mindlessly entertain us.

See, it's quite alright for one to be impressed and sufficiently entertained by all the shiny lights and boom-boom and boobies and more boom-boom; knock yourself the fuck out. If that's what you get out of other action flicks--great.

To think, however, that Transformers exists in that same light--that its utter refusal to expect the audience to even care about story, to care about its characters....to care about what makes a film a film, is completely asinine. It doesn't bother me or any critic in the least that you don't "get" this. No one gives a shit if you defend your meager quotient for entertainment with charges of "elitism" or "rods up asses" etc. Whatever.

We know that your kind doesn't understand film--we already know that. It is no mystery. Critics love a lot of action films. They highly praise solid flicks that treat you like a rational person should be treated (see: any film from James Cameron or Ridley Scott). We already know that you don't realize the real reason you like Die Hard is because you have become highly invested in McClain's character--you actually want to see him win. You don't know that the action is merely ancillary. See, we get it.

Telling us that we don't "get it," b/c we don't like the boom-boom not only misses the point of criticism entirely, but further exposes your naivete. To assume that explosions and fast cars only = entertainment, and that ALL movies with explosions and fast cars are equal, is patently stupid.

Where did i say gladiator the movie? I meant gladiator fights, like in the Roman coliseum,
Plus, you need to get a life.

And I will have another movie to see in 2012!
The Matrix was a critical success.

The Matrix Reloaded did much better in the box office than the original, but got lots of bad critical reviews.

The Matrix Revolutions did the worst of all three in the box office, and also got bad reviews.

Regardless, all the Matrix movies were box office successes.

Transformers is emulating the Matrix Trilogy's box office model. The first Transformers got favorable reviews and did very well in the box office. Transformers 2 got terrible reviews, but the buzz from the original movie is enough to get people to pour into the theater. Transformers 3 will do worse than both 1 & 2 in the box office, and will get terrible reviews as well (I'll wager).

I tend to think that the first movie always gets a free pass, since half the movie is introducing the premise and characters. Hence less filler scenes.

Rarely are the sequels better , I think it'd be foolish to expect it.

I cant think of any movie, outside of MAYBE terminator 2 that was as good as the first one.

I actually liked the 2nd one better honestly. I mean sure it was a GM commercial / armed forces recruiting pitch, but it had less of the cutesy stuff that the first one had (like the autobots hiding around the house and trying to be quiet)

Transformers was a kid's story.

Now those kids grew up.

Now they make a movie for the culture that grew up with Transformers.

They are 18+

I was maybe 6 when transformers were introduced. My brother and I had just about every damn toy.

We are now in our 30s. No way in hell "the culture that grew up with Transformers" is in their teens.

My point was that they are not children, and are adults. Basically, the mid 20's-early 30's crowd.

A movie that does Transformers justice for the group of people who grew up with Transformers. It's not that difficult.

I saw this movie over the weekend, just as I expected, typical M. Bay movie.

Megan Fox is even hotter, love the outfit <short short..yummy>.

The scence of the mom getting high from the weed brownie was unnessary cheap laught and so was the on-going and going small dog humming big dog.

The other young guy was a waste. His character didn't do anything for the story.

Deceptions look too much similar, and still too shiny.

I don't remember that Deceptions or Autobots can take human forms. I understand that they could get human forms by holographs but not a real/touchable body form.

The final fight at the end was not as good as it should be. Where are other Deceptions and Autobots in the fight? Big..heavy duty bombs at such a close proximity?

Overall, cheap entertainment, worth my $6 <first show on Sunday>.

I grew up with Transformers. I saw the first Transformers. I haven't seen the second. By all accounts the second is atrocious. If you think that either of these movies "does Transformers justice" you're retarded. That's like saying the Leo DiCaprio "Romeo and Juliet" does Shakespeare justice. That's like saying "Braveheart" does history justice because there is a character named William Wallace in it.

If you're unsure about this movies, read a handy FAQ for spoilers and explanation.

I never said either did Transformers justice, because neither do IMHO.

FWIW I thought the new Batman's were good, and did the comics justice (even if they didn't follow the Batman comics storylines 100%). Were they perfect recreations from the comics, and were they flawless movies? Of course not, but they were well done and were to Batman what I wish Transformers was for that series.

Machine gods resucitate the Boef. I was laughing so hard I drew attention.

for the record, me and my buds were laughing at how bad it was, the other 98% of ppl in the theater were cheering, and, i shit you not, stood and applauded at the end. Now that the academy expanded best picture to 10 films, I think they think it has a shot. yikes.

I hate it when retards clap for movies!
Who are they clapping? the pimply teenager operating the projector? I can understand if these people clap the premier while production team/actors are in the cinema.... But clapping a big white screen? Fuck people are stupid.

I remember seeing independence day at the movies and i swear that all the trailor trash came out to the the moving pictures and the all stood up and cheered at the end..... wtf

hahah that faq is great. but he does skip some. Jetfires ablility to teleport was in the comic/cartoon. it was called a space bridge.

seemed that Bay stole a lot from all the comics/cartoon series.

but he brings up some good points. Why did the primes leave the key to start the machine on earth? why not run with it and h ide it somewhere far away?

why didn't sam use his little paice fo the shard to bring Prime back to life? it worked for megetron! and why does that big Dececepticon have a set of balls?

lol

But over all a good action flick and yes i will get it when it comes out on blu-ray!

was a shit movie. Honestly humor was epic fail compared to the first one. I loved the first one. Thought it was roughly the best that can be expected by a comedic/action movie. This one just went down the shitter. Lame plot, lame dialogue, good action, but explosions don't do it. Some parts of the plot made me say: wtf? I mean the agent calling the navy guy asking for him to fire a railgun, and he does it?

Ok, I watched this movie and the robot blowing shit up was ok but the script and dialog was absolutely retarded. And I went in with LOW expectations for that portion of the movie, based on the first one. I mean the general idea wasn't terrible, but the execution was just shat. The beginning is a fever pitch where the camera cuts away instead of showing a robot transforming because apparently that would just be too boring and slow for our ADHD youth. And yet, there is like a 45 minute stretch of painfully slow, painfully awful "plot" development that takes place in a desert. Cut this garbage out. If you can't be bothered to do it right, whatever, but at least don't waste a lot of time on that garbage. It was getting painfully awful before things finally started rolling again. And what was up with the one guy at the end narrating his every action?

Once again, the humans spent the majority of the movie being annoying, unlikeable, unbelievable as characters and utterly unnecessary...only instead of learning from the first and putting them in the movie less they actually used them even more.

I went in just for the action, I knew it was going to be shit. But wow, even with that state of mind (dont pay attention to the plot, just look at pretty animations) I STILL picked up on huge bullshit pieces of the plot. Where the fuck were the robots, too?

Does anybody remember seeing the Chevy Volt Autobot...Jolt? For the life of me, I keep going through the movie in my head and I don't remember seeing him. He was pretty hyped up because of the Volt tie-in...was supposed to have electro-whips and everything.

It?s as if Michael Bay looked at Jar Jar Binks and said ?Oh, fuck no. Really? People find THAT offensive? Fuck that, I?ll show them a fucking stereotype they?ll never fucking forget!? And he does.

Oh. My. God.

They speak in clichéd urban slang, tossing around phrases like ?I?m gonna pop a cap in your ass? while fist bumping and mumbling unintelligently in a voice that sounds like a bad Chappelle Show sketch. Then you get a close up. And they each have bug eyes and a gold tooth. Then there?s this jackass comment about them not being able to read. My jaw was on the floor. I mean, if you?re gonna toss out a bad stereotype, at least have the courtesy to make that stereotype a complete badass so as to deflect complaints that this is a deliberately negative portrayal. These mother fuckers are incompetent, bumbling and never, EVER, cool.

I saw the movie in NYC with a heavily black audience. For what it's worth, they fucking loved Mudflap and Skids. So AICN can take it's faux outrage and sit on it, Bay knows his audience I guess. Unless AICN is implying black americans are too dumb to know they're being insulted. b/c that'd be racist.

About 1/4th of the audience was black when I went to see it. Most of them looked like educated and successful people just looking for something to do after work on a Friday. The loudest laughter in the theater was coming from the area they were seated in.

He helps ratchet upgrade/repair optimus. Only time I remember his name being mentioned. I don't even know what a chevy volt looks like. It might've been seen earlier in the movie but I wouldn't have known.

I wonder for part 3 will they use other cars than GM stuff. I would think since we now own GM our money is better spent elsewhere.

Yeah the movies both of them borrow from the entire Transformers universe. I'm betting that most people here grew up watching the original transformers on tv and only a small group followed tv, comics and later versions of transformers.

i saw it in imax. honestly i think it was amazing. i did not go in there expecting to see a oscar worthy movie

all the fighting scenes were excellent and the one in the forest where optimus prime fights all those robots was the best one. additionally the sound was was crazy good too (all the explosions and stuff) and transformation were great.
