Toyota passes Ford in U.S. sales in 2007

Many reasons.

We bombed Japan in 1945. Even way afterwards people were extreamly patriotic for their country. Even then I don't think many Americans are really accepting of other cultures. I would think a lot of people buy American cars because.

A. They are cheaper.
B. It's the American way (support your people)

C. The Japanese do not offer simple manual transmission RWD vehicles with high horsepower V8 engines at reasonable prices.

A. They are cheaper. Most American cars are comparable in price. In fact hasn't there been a couple threads regarding how some American cars are overpriced.
B. It's the American way (support your people) Sort the way Japan sets up laws keeping foreign automakers from gaining ground on their home turf right?

As much as I have not been a fan of American Ford vehicles for a while...I really think they'll get back to making quality products (and in some cases they already are). Their European brand Fords (Focus, Mondeo, etc.) are great and so are Mazda, Volvo, etc. The Fusion is competitive and the Taurus...although stupid name...is not a bad vehicle. With Sync getting a lot of good reviews...I think they could start doing really well if they start matching the quality of thier European cars here in the States. I'm definitely rooting for the home team...even if my wife and I both drive Japanese vehicles (that may change if something domestic is decent and falls within our requirements next time around).

Huh...you need to go learn what logic means. First you are trying to tell people how quality equals sales...then your saying it doesn't matter...all that matters is that one car company sells more than the other. Well Ford has outsold Toyota 9 out of the last 10 years and GM has outsold Toyota 10 out of the last 10 years...so clearly GM is a much better car company than Toyota by your standards.
