The guns have to be less CoD / CS and more bullet sponge enemies. Otherwise, you just headshot and move on, no reason to upgrade weapons or do any kind of MMO stuff. A lightsaber should cut someone in half first swing, and body complains KOTOR takes multiple hits to even kill a meatbag.

It doesn't have to be made so unrealistic like that, that's a design choice.

It does to function as an rpg/mmo-lite.

It also is not as bad as most people complaining about it make it to be. Currently at lvl 19, elite yellow mobs can be killed in one clip of an assault rifle and I can headshot kill superior purple mobs with my marksman rifle.

The guns in this game are like nerf guns. I watched a friend play a bit on PS4 via share play and that's the impression I got. He said it is highly annoying that headshots don't seem to do anything extra. Not sure whether he missed or what.

The PvP focus keeps me heavily away plus I don't want to devote any time to something in the MMO genre anymore.

head shots most definitely do crit and do a shitload more damage

for example at lvl 15 my marksmen does like 1300 to the body and 5k to the head and will 1 shot most normal enemies at the same level as me with a head shot.

sure it doesn't always 1 shot depending on mob, but its no different then the knights in destiny taking 2 shots

Has anyone else been getting this error code when trying to log in to the game:
DELTA 20010186 ?

This is seriously driving me crazy.

Just want to log in and start playing.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I believe the Delta 186 code is related to something blocking your connection to the server. Have not dealt with this personally.

I've not had that either. I've been able to play whenever I try to log in.

Sounds like you are doing the mini side missions. The main story missions are a bit more involved and you might enjoy them more, but ultimately it all points towards going to the PvP Dark Zone area.

im stuck doing the same mini side missions. how do you get to the main story missions?

Did you go to the command base and activate the medical, tech, and security wings? Each of those will give you a story mission.

i just activated the security wing. i've done like 8 mini missions so far so maybe i can activate more. by command base do you mean safe house?

I know there is a safe house on the right side of the map, I'm not level 9 yet so I haven't gone into there yet. The command base is the place across from Madison square hospital. If you activated the security wing then you're there.

You should be able to activate the medical and tech wings there. Your story missions are also highlighted in blue on the map? At least on the console they are, not sure about PC.

You can activate all three wings no matter how many side missions you completed. You have to complete the 3 main wing story missions to progress the story.

Does this feel similar to other 3rd person action RPGs? Mass Effect, KOTOR, etc? I'm on the fence about picking up the Gold edition. I have enough stuff going on that I won't be able to dedicate tons of time to it, but if it's similar to something I already know I enjoy (and if I can pick it up for an hour or two at a time), I might bite.

It has quite a bit of things to do in pve. If you have played destiny, its better in terms of the side missions, mission, and exploring/looting. I don't play it as much as I can due to time but when I do, I usually mess around in pve.

Hahaha I was about to say. I believe there are only 3 side missions in Brooklyn, after that there really isn't much to do except go to the mainland.

Man...the Dark Zone sure is frustrating playing solo. Especially when you have a group of rogue players following your around just to shoot you when you collect some good loot. I haven't been able to successfully extract anything yet. The enemies seem much more difficult than the beta also. Is this the case?

I felt this way in the beta. Its good if you can find a decent group to roll around with.

so now that you guys have had a few days with it, it is worth it for the PVE side of things? wait for a sale? or stay away from it?

I don't mind the bullet sponge parts, it's just having enough to keep me busy and playing for awhile. Don't want to complete the PVE content in a few days and be bored.

I guess he missed then and thought he hit.

As was said though you could make a game with more realistic damage if it was the developer's choice. Maybe it wouldn't be as noob friendly or whatever, but you could compensate a bit with armors and helmets that reduce the damage taken. A headshot wouldn't necessarily be a kill shot with a kevlar helmet on for example. Anyhow it was just my impressions from an observation only viewpoint.

You can solo the first 3 story missions to open up the wings. Just take your time. Ive hit the DZ a few time in our group. So far it rains blue items and DZ credits. Havent seen many players and havent encountered a rogue but there are a heck of a lot more npcs now. They also seem much stronger than the beta versions.

If you need quick gear i would definitely try to DZ a little. Even if you cant extract youll get a decent amount of credits from killing npcs to buy gear from the vendors at the exits and safe house. You can even open a DZ vendor in your base from the security wing.
