Except the 12 balls in question were removed at half-time and back-up balls were used. NE outscored Indy 28-0 in the 2nd half.

The deflated balls did not cause the Colts to lose. The Colts not showing up and exceptionally poor coaching is what caused the loss.

However, if it is proven true, it is yet another pitiful and embarrassing incident for the Patriots. I have no doubt that in the event it is proven, Patriots fans will activate their reality distortion fields and divert, point out similar incidents in the past, and do their best to downplay it.

Under Inflated balls are easier to throw and catch. Patriots throw the ball more. Colts have a running game.

Excuse me, but I have a question for you:

DO YOU EVEN WATCH FOOTBALL?

This isn't 1988, when the Colts had Dickerson, or 2000, when they had Edgerrin James. The Colts have very little running game to speak of and certainly not a consistent one.

I read an article about tire pressure gauges which said that there are no standard for calibrations and, as such, most measurements between equipment differ by WAY more than 2PSI.

It went on to do a round up of many tire pressure gauges after developing a testing methodology. If what they said was true, I doubt there can be any repercussions over a measly 2PSI when there is no good way to eliminate variance in normal measuring equipment.

Why does the outcome matter? Patriots once again got caught lying and cheating and we all know how long it takes to get caught at our crimes. You ever been caught the first time?

The Patriots are the Barry Bonds of the NFL. What a fucking embarrassment.

Pats would have won either way. I like Luck...so I was rooting for the the Colts, but they forgot to show up for the game.

That's the story with the Colts. They seem to have the talent to beat most teams in the league, but they're wildly inconsistent for some reason.

Coaching. Poor coaching, especially on the defensive side, is what causes it. They may not have all pro talent on defense, but I think they have enough talent to be decent.

1. They used two different gauges; same readings from both.
2. There was a 2psi differential between balls 1 - 11 (underinflated), and 12 (correctly inflated).
3. No issue with any of the opponents' 12.

So someone earlier said that the balls each team brings out are switched at halftime. So wouldnt that then benefit the colts with deflated balls in the 2nd half? Plus Gronk has 2 easy TDs he dropped. You sure deflated balls are easier to catch? :p

Outcome doesn't matter, intention does. Saying "Yeah, they might have cheated, but the rigged balls were removed at half time!" is an excuse.

lol

lose their spot? or have belicheck banned for life? LOL neither of those are going to happen.

Something has to happen. And it can't just be another fine or loss of draft pick. These guys cheat too much.

i just want to know how eits got to vote 11 times.

also, it's stupid that this is a big deal. from what i read, the patriots give their balls to the officials 2+ hours before the game to be inspected, and they inspected them, and they passed. and then during the game, it's not like the refs never touch or feel the footballs, they are in their hands every single play.

oh and i guess the deflated footballs make the colts offense only muster out 7 points, and makes it so the defense doesn't know how to tackle?

Was listening to WFAN sports radio overnight and heard this referred to as the "rotten cherry on top of the 2014 NFL season" by Tony Page. I cracked up at the time but truer words were never spoken.

And although this was yet another round of Belicheat & the Cheatriot's caught red handed I don't think the Colts even belonged on the same field as NE last Sunday so I don't think they should be disqualified.

The fact that NE was so much better is the hardest thing to understand here. It's not like they NEEDED to cheat in order to beat the Colt's so why the hell did they bother? Makes no sense at all.

It is true, but it had minimal impact on the game. Had the final score been within a TD or less, then it would be a bigger issue.

Hard to really quantify the impact in a game. How much impact did spygate have really? Didnt matter

It really doesnt matter. If a F1 driver wins a race by 25 seconds and his aero is off by the smallest of margins effecively only giving him hundreths of a second per lap advantage he is going to lose the win.

I dont expect or want the pats to lose the game over this. What needs to happen is the patriots need to be fined money and draft picts so no team tries this shit again and Belicheat gets to to sit down for a while and think about what he has done. Dude needs a time out like my kids do.

multigame suspension for coach and 2-3 draft picts would be about right though they will only do the fine and picks I would wager.

Losing a first round and a second for a year or two would damage the patriots brand though as we have seen with spygate its gonna take longer for the damage to their character to heal.

Coachs career is tainted imo already. This only serves that narrative.

I bet a low level assistant pulls out a sword and falls on it.

Part of me wants to say "Look, Aaron Rodgers and a bunch of other plays have all noted they like balls that are over or under inflated!". I've been a life-long Patriots fan, literally, I was born after week 1 of the 1981 season and I've never missed a game. When I was little my dad would pull me out of my crib, and one of my earliest memories is of watching the Patriots face the Cowboys and my dad saying "pay attention, this may be the only game they win all year" as my best friend and I sat there watching. He was right. The Patriots to me are more than just a sports team; their rise coincided with me going away to college, going out into the world, starting my career. That's what it really means to be a fan of a team, it's not just a sport anymore, it's a part of your life; something you take solace in when you're feeling down, and something that gets you pumped up even more when you're things are going well. I remember in 2003 or so I hit a rough patch and saying to myself "well, at least I saw the Pats win some super bowls", and it genuinely made me feel a little bit better.

After Spygate I was a bit leery of just how different what the Pats were doing from the rest of the league; I remember Jimmy Johnson saying the Cowboys had done similar stuff over the years. You don't want to believe what your team did was so bad, I mean sports can be such a big part of someone's life, you don't want to be rooting (along with your friends) for a team that's shady or cheating.

But this time, my first thought "Why are they doing this? How are they getting caught again??" It sounds stupid, but it hurts in a way. This is a team that I associate with my friends, my dad that I still talk to after almost every game, and just my life in general. When stuff like this keeps happening it doesn't just mean a team cheated, it means a whole group of people that passionately support the team have in a way been robbed. I'm not just annoyed, I'm genuinely bummed out. The super bowl is coming up, this should be one of my happiest times of the year, and for the first time in my life I'm actually not sure how excited I am to watch the next Patriots game.

Most likely they'll lose draft-picks and if its proven Belichick knew about it possibly he'll get a one or two game suspension and maybe a fine too.

Goodell will probably just fine Marshawn Lynch for the deflated balls, citing convenience was the ultimate factor in his decision.

Yep.

Of course I am still on the Seahawks to win the SB, but I will be rooting for the Pats now.
