Accidents happen.
Take out gun from your post, and replace it with car.

This is pointless to say because the inherent assertion you're making is that people who are against gun deaths are not against automobile deaths.
The truth is that despite huge gun ownership rates in the US the chances of a gun owner legitimately using their gun for self defense in their life are extremely small--way, way lower than 1%. There are a huge number of family members killed with guns through accidents.
I really do support the 2nd, but these kinds of idiotic accidents don't need to happen. People need more training before carrying a gun. Gun owners might not even dislike this, as with less accidents there will be less of a target on their chest by gun grabbers.
People get stupid around guns. As a kid I had no problem shooting pieces of metal at 10 feet with a bb gun and laughing as the bbs flung back toward me, missing my eye. And I'm not a stupid guy, but people get used to these, rather like a carpenter who's used his table saw so many times he no longer respects it (and so we have literally thousands of table saw injuries each year).
