real men with time makes them from scratch. I tend to buy the supermarket bakery ones.

Every single package of Oatmeal Raisin cookie you buy will have a phrase akin to "May have come into contact with nuts during manufacturing" printed on it :awe:

what do you mean almond in green beans? as in a mix?

A fancy way to prepare greenbeans is with melted butter ans slivered almonds. It's a typical Thanksgiving dish.

Obviously, not everyone is a fan, though I like it...

When I visited Vegas, I ate just that thanks to everyone here recommending it.

I thought it was okay at best, especially at like $18. Waffle wasn't hot enough or fresh. I can get a better off-the-press hot wallfes at my college cafeteria.

Walnuts didn't blend well with the waffles. I felt like I was eating them separately.

blasphemy. the walnuts provided a perfect textural contrast to the bananas.

I was actually sorely disappointed when I returned and they replaced the bananas with strawberries and NO nuts.

that said, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you and no kitchen is perfect (since they were both hot and fresh when we ate there). FWIW, me and the GF ate 3 of those waffles during our trip and would've done 5 but they were closed the last day.

I don't think I would ever eat green beans that way. Stir fried with bacon and garlic is good though 😛

That is the problem with waffles, you got to put all kinds of crap on them to cover up the yucky french man goo taste of the waffle.

Waffles are Belgian. what are you going on about?

only fools prefer the much simpler pancake. Blueberry pancakes are great, of course, but you're still stuck with a pancake. One texture, one consistency, no adventure. It's like sex with your mom. 🙁

Waffles, on the other hand....hmmmm

i actually love nuts, i just hate when they are used in food. nuts ruin things like cookies/brownies/salads/....... you get the idea

nuts are great in dessert/breakfast food...baked goods, basically. this is where nuts belong, imo.

But I can't stand them in stir-fry entrees, or any other type of entree.

also great with greens.

i disslike them in Asian dishes, i HATE almonds in green beans, seriously someone should be kicked in the nuts for that. almost as bad as raisins in meatloaf

Oh my, yes! that is seriously horrible. In fact, I would accuse someone of being a Red commie sympathizer for putting almonds in green beans.

that is truly wretched.

Only fatback belongs in green beans. (bacon if no fatback is on hand)

Dutch baby > waffles

I'm the same way.

Most of the nuts that find their way into foods they don't belong to be found in, I will actually eat them. But not mixed together with that other food.

Brownies w/nuts? No thanks. No, just no.
Various types of breads or muffins with nuts? Ugh, way to ruin it.
Cookies: I think the only one I approve of, okay two, is white chocolate macadamia, and peanut butter cookies. The latter I am not all that fond of, but I can eat it if necessary - I'd prefer no peanuts in my cookie though.

Some people have thought this is related to my finicky eating preferences, but I disagree - I can eat the ingredients alone, but some ingredients I don't want combined.

I don't like the texture change. Soft, chewy... yum.. crunch wtf?
It just is shocking and I don't like it. I'll eat them stand-alone no problem though, prefer to keep them stand-alone.

Dutch baby are really easy. I usually make in a pyrex pan 9x9 though. Might try cast iron sometime.

My recipe as follows first preheat oven to 425

I just throw 4 eggs a cup of milk and a cup of flour (all purpose) in a blender blend till combined maybe a minute at most.

Once the oven preheats throw a half a stick of butter in there and let it melt. Once its melted and bubbles a little pour the batter in. Cook for roughly 17-22minutes or until golden brown.
I like to serve with powdered sugar and lemon juice.

am I crazy or do I see some type of baked apples or apricots in that pictar?

:hmm:

OMG, baked apricots would be tits in that!

My wife's recipe:

1/4 cup of flour plus 1/4 milk per egg. Use as many eggs as you can eat. Whisk it together. Preheat oven and skillet with half stick of butter to 425. Pour batter in and bake until risen, golden brown.

Which turns out to be exactly the same as ahenkel's recipe above.

Variations: top with baked apples, berries, etc. The one in the pic had baked apples. They are also good with blueberries, blackberries, and walnuts.

Oma used to make those Scandinavian waffle's when i was younger, and damn they where good.....

Fresh strooplwaffles are amazing....

The wife found a Paula Deen recipe for cornbread waffles... the idea being that you make cornbread waffles in your waffle iron, put them in a big bowl, then smother them with chili & cheese.

Holy mother of all that is tasty and gas producing, were they good!!!
