Whoa, first attack the OP and then attack me?!?

I was simply providing a possibility to what may have happened in case he does get another dog. A puppy should not be worked very hard at all especially larger breeds.

My dog that passed had cancer of the spleen which was treated, but it ended up spreading to her lymph nodes and lung. Without the spleen further surgery for a 10+ year old dog of her type would have been potentially fatal. She lived 2 years further and only really had a bad weekend when it finally caught up to her and she was drowning on her own lung fluids.

All in all her treatment was over $10,000 over the course of a two years with most being the last year. I was even making her food daily at the end to keep her appetite up with twice a day insulin. She went to the vet's office monthly and had ultrasounds nearly every quarter.

To refresh your memory. Every post is condolences. Maybe that can help you to learn some decency.

edit: last post in this thread. I offered my condolences. OP's dog reminds me a bit of one of my cocker's, it really sucks to lose a companion so early.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, OP. It sounds like it has been an awful past few months with that previous heartache with the woman who gave away the puppy you reserved. At the very least, hopefully you can take some solace in knowing you gave the puppy a loving, happy home for her brief time here.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I know exactly how you're feeling (not that it will make you feel any better). Every time I've lost a dog over the years, it's the worst feeling on earth :(

I appreciate everyone's sentiments. We're deciding if we want to try again right away or not; it feels so empty without her.

Oh, I see that, I only saw a few of the earlier pics, see the gallery now. Not fat, but I still would be highly dubious of his ability to run a dog to death up and down hills. Maybe on flat ground if he was a marathon runner, because puppies aren't good at long distances, and only certain breeds are able to handle long distances, most are better at shorter distances.

But still, when OP is clearly hurting from a loss, I don't really see how it is pertinent to even offer possible explanations as to how his actions could have led the dog's death, however possible they might be. It's just rude.

It's being honest. Especially if they get another dog right away.

If this puppy was indeed being run, it's not recommended to run or jog with a puppy until they have reached 1 year of age or sometimes more depending on breed.

Also puppies are not good at always knowing when they should take a break, rest, and/or drink.

I am not coming across hostile nor blaming the OP, it's simply advice for the future. It's very possible there was a congenital condition as well.

It's clear you are targeting my posts and have overlooked others have been condescending above.

I have a background in working for a veterinarian as well as majoring for one degree in Zoology (my other degree is Comp. Science).

There were post deletes I believe in that thread. Also I had explained in posts exactly what my treatment was of that dog. Anyone that would have debated that would have been off their rocker. There wasn't an expense spared.

That dog was to be destroyed prior to me driving 12 hours+ round trip to go and get it, de-mat it's hair and wash it (her collar had to be cut from her hair). She was deserted outside on my grandmother's property after she passed away, the dog showed a small tumor in her spleen during her first vet visit when I got her (which was the day after I got her home). We thought we caught it in time since the tumor wasn't that large and elected to remove the entire spleen.

I had debated having her lung removed once we found it spread there, however; it was also in a few lymph nodes apparently. At nearly 12 years old and also only a three-legged dog with no spleen, it would be doubtful she'd have recovered and just would have spent her last days of life miserable.

We were able to put her on some meds that keep the symptoms of the cancer at bay, kept up her insulin and began home-cooking meals when she lost her appetite for regular dog food.

Yeah, or maybe I just don't have the patience for another one, as you stated before.

Here's an idea; instead of entering every fucking thread you post in as if you have all the knowledge in the world regarding the topic at hand, how about just offering a related comment or two, such as "congrats!" or "that sucks!, or "oh man, sorry". If you can't handle doing that, why don't you ever just butt out? Why do you have to come in, like you do, and just be an obvious asshole? Do you get enjoyment out of this? I just lost my FUCKING DOG and you just HAVE to post about how I probably don't know shit about how to take care of her? Or I'm not the type of person that can handle a dog?

I've tolerated your shit long enough on these forums. I usually laugh it off, but seriously, this time, just FUCK YOU. I can't stand seeing it anymore, and you will officially be the first person on my ignore list.

Well I do have a lot of knowledge. If you are mad like the others then get smarter?

You lost a dog that started off like a dramatic event.

I am concerned about your next dog.

That is not wrong.

I am not trying to fight with you despite your PM's in the past.

You are not Batman.

The OP just lost his puppy. While you may mean well with your advice, now, in this thread of loss and condolence, is neither the time nor the place. Can you not see that with your multiple posts here that you have, intentionally or not, hijacked this thread and changed its tone for the worse?

you gotta admit there is something that deserves examination here. the dog was fine for four months, you take possesion and it dies two days later. coincidence? maybe. on the other hand there might be a lesson to learn in this. id never heard of this schitt about not running your dog until its a year old but it makes sense, animals can overheat really easily and puppies may be more vulnerable

I'm no vet with a degree in zoology, but I sincerely doubt that running a normal, healthy 4 month old puppy up and down a hill in the backyard would lead to it's immediate death.

@gothamhunter, sorry for your loss man. i cant say anything to make you feel better, but it will get better. you guys will get another dog and it will turn out great I'm sure. just give it some time.

You'll get over it in a couple of days if you get another dog instead of dwelling on a dog you only had for a couple of days. Sucks, but shit happens. Just go up to the pound or humane society, tell them you want a dog, and you'll have one.

We got a Rottweiler from the pound once. Sitting around watching TV, then suddenly the bathroom door slams. Go to check it out and the dog is having a seizure. Just took him back the next day and got two instead. Had both of them for 13+ years.

This wouldn't be ATOT without at least one rude, mean and/or judgmental post. Anyhow sorry to read the OP's sad tail. :) RIP

Awww. You'll get through it. There is nothing you could have done differently.
Get a new dog and you will quickly forget about your loss. It'a almost as if the new version is a reincarnation of the old one.
It's not nearly as easy for humans.

Our favorite cat got hit by a car. We were devastated. We got a new one and it helped fill the void. We still miss Frank Frank, but it's not the end of the world.
