So sorry to hear this.

Can you elaborate on what happened? Heart attack at that age is pretty rare unless there was an underlying condition.
We aren't entirely sure. I am guessing it was just a birth defect that we only recently brought out. I was playing with her outside (running up and down a hill in our backyard) and we came in afterwards. She drank a sip of water but then started clumsily running in our dining room (sort of normal for her). Then she peed in the dining room, which she knows not to do (we bell trained her) so I took her outside and put her on her leash while I cleaned up the mess.
When I went out to get her she was just lying on the ground near the door (again, normal when she wants to come in) and so we went inside. She went and laid down in her kennel (where her bed is) which was sort of not normal, but we've been training her that it's a good place for naps. She let out a pretty low cry/howl which was abnormal, but she's been recently finding her voice so I thought nothing of it. I did some dishes in the kitchen, went in to check on her, and she was just...dead. Thinking of all the signs, it makes sense (heavy exercise, then not eating/drinking after, the peeing inside, just lying around, being pretty lethargic which I accounted for being tired).
It was a shock and I'm just sad.
