About NJ in general, I wouldn't have such a terrible opinion of it if it weren't for the bordering industrial area to NY (is that what that is?). The place looks like an absolute sh!thole for miles and miles once you leave NY. Even around the airport. And it's not even a big state. It's a case of the lowest common denominator I suppose. Just leaves a terrible taste...

your are talking about a 50 sq mile area. compared to the rest of the state a very small portion.

have you ever been to Princeton? Livingston? West Windsor? Moorestown? Wall? Brick? Flemington?

most of NJ is very very nice. it is no longer the "Garden State" it once was (PA is much better for greener) but NJ is a very nice state. has lots of advantages when raising a family.

NJ Public Schools send more kids to college (percentage wise) than any other state. NJ has a very strong educational tradition. Princeton University, Lawrenceville Prep, Chaplin School, never mind all the very very good catholic schools in the area.

NJ is a great place to live.

next time find out a bit about the state before going off on it.
I'd hardly call that going off on it. And I know that is its only negative - I even said that. What I'm arguing is that people are saying NJ is a beautiful state when there's such an unsightly scene there. There are states that don't have anything so polluted-looking that deserve more praise than NJ because they are beautiful as a whole. You guys in NJ are just choosing not to see it. Name all the nice towns you want, but a state is the sum of its parts. If the rest of the state were mediocre and boring, I wouldn't have mentioned anything. But everytime I pass through there, I can't help myself. It's the most god-awful sight I've seen anywhere and can't imagine anywhere topping it. Not even Crooklyn's rail-yards.

It troubles me that people praise NJ when something like that is associated with it. For those who live there, turning a blind eye is fine, but don't expect anyone else to.

Yeah except most of the intersections around here are lacking the all-important "Left turn yield on green" sign so you have to wait for the green arrow.
Or you can B) get into the right lane, figure out of the jughandle is before or after the intersection, turn, and sit and wait at the light.
I've already stated, what, 3 times now that the only failing of jughandles is inconsistent application.

Jughandles are actually worse in PA because they show up in the most random and inconvenient places.

Obviously....your roads are poorly designed. You are proving my point.

PlatinumGold, I live in Philly.....I manage to make left turns without jughandles and I'm pretty sure we've got fairly dense population here...

again, you are lumping, i personally have never said i like NJ for its green. look above.

i like NJ for it's industry, for the fact that it has the highest income per capita of any state, for it's population density (guess what, this means more money per sq mile than any state in the US). making it very easy to make money. i like it for it's proximity to Washington DC, Philadelphia, NY, NY, Atlantic City, The Ocean, the Mountains. i like it for it's proximity to all the tourist attractions. i like it for it's convenience (i don't have to get out and pump my own gas in 98 degree whether), i like it for the fact that gas prices here are less than the 3 of the 4 states surounding it (PA, NY, CT). i don't remember gas prices in Delaware as i haven't been there in a while, but i can imagine that it isn't too much lower than in NJ.

sure we have problems in this state, much of it is directly related to the population density tho, so i can't really complain about those things now can i.

downtown philly or suburbs? downtown also has a lot of one ways, guess why? population density.

bucks county or the other north eastern to north western counties that comprise the suburbs of philly are not as densely populated as most of north jersey.

and yes, i drive out there frequently enough to know about traffic out there. the drive from here (lawrenceville, NJ) to Doylestown, PA is not a pretty one.

Bucks county isn't as bad. Those are the suburb's suburbs. Drive in Northeast, or the suburbs directly west of the city and you will know what I mean....

I've said everything I wanted to say in my edit above, but I have to question one thing... do you leave your car running with the AC in that 98 degree weather while they pump your gas or do you sweat it out inside ?

Actually you need to think about what you are saying here.

1. more finalists in the contest from NJ then any other state.
2. Only state with two towns in the top ten is NJ
3. The two top ten towns are in completely diferent parts of the state, on is up north the other about 2 hours south.

Such jealousy towards a beautiful state....it's so sad.

I commute from Marlton (directly south of Moorestown) to Princeton everyday. They are not two hours apart. On an average day the drive is an hour and ten minutes in traffic. Chatham and Moorestown are about two hours apart.

uhhh....the last time I checked Northeast had over 400k people in it. While technically part of the city, it really is the first layer of suburbs....

hmm, what is your point?

My point is that Northeast is denser than any of those places and does not have jughandles. I'm sure many of the suburbs directly west of the city are just as dense as them too, without using jughandles.

you honestly think Northeast is denser than Hoboken?

i find that hard to believe.

That's the spirit. All the animosity towards our great state is just jealousy and nothing more.

Exactly the moronic opinion I addressed earlier in the thread. Jersey wouldn't be considered all that bad if the people that lived there weren't under some false impression that its the greatest place in the unvierse.

I chose not to answer you based on the fact that I am just plain better then you....how is that for a false sense of insuperiority....lol

I can't really find anything that says the physical area of northeast...but you DO realize that over 400k people live there, right?

Either that, or the fact that you have no response to the things I said.

Actually I chose not to answer becuase no matter what anyone says to you, it won't change that you have some vendetta against the State of NJ. I don't know, but if I had to guess you must have had some boyfriend or girlfriend from the state to break your heart. I guess that bad taste left in your mouth over this person crushing your heart has left you angry at a whole state.......so sad.

Kinda like how no matter how many valid, 100% accurate arguments are given AGAINST you in this thread, you will still maintain that Jersey is great?

I have a roommate from Moorestown. He thinks its hilarious because in no way does he think its the best place in the country. My other roommate, from Cherry Hilly, has the same feeling.

Is it September yet? The kiddies need to go back to their AMAZING jersey jr high's....

What do you have against NJ? I live here and I don't think it's the best place in the US, but it's nowhere near the worst, either.

But you just seem to hate it for no reason.
