We have already contacted social services, but they can't do anything wihout getting a hold of the mom. So we are in a stale mate.

Thos have sent formula to help the baby out, I thank you It helps alot. much appreciation given.

Is that pointed towards me?

If so, I am appalled that you would make such a statement. I know my grammar isn't the best. But I am still in high school.

Go to the local churches and speak with a pastor. Most organizations are willing to help with these types of situations. Regardless of what you may think about churches or religion in general, a lot of good people out there believe that they need toh elp their communities and churches in particular strive to reach out to their communities.

They probably won't give money, but I wouldn't be suprised if they gathered up some food for the baby.

I second this. My church when I was living in Kansas would do this. You might want to start with Baptist churches, they seem to have this food thing:)

If she truly is an active addict, DHS will remove the baby from the home. Go to a church. Ask them for help. They will give it to you. Good luck.

My apologies. It wasnt meant to offend you at all. More of a hint to slow down and take your time explaining the situation.

Indeed. if they can't feed the baby, then the situation isn't a whole lot better than having a meth-addict mother. At least child services will be able to take care of the baby appropriately.

Go to court... get custody of the child... get government aid.

What state is this? Have they called DYFS? IF she is an unfit mother the courts will take the child. Whether they will turn the child over to the grandparents or to foster care if anyone's guess... but I am also guessing that getting the child out of the situation is more important then whether she goes to foster care or with the grandparents.

The state is Utah. We have called DYFs. Also Carrie the mother of the child is being taken to court. "I hope she rotts in jail"

Getting the child out of the situation is important, right now they are going to court to get that resolved, meanwhile Sherry and her parent's are doing they're best to take care of the child. The meth head will probably be going to jail and at that point Sherry should be able to receive custody of the child. Then she will put him up for adoption,or keep him that decision is up to her.

That my friend is a true statement but the situation is better. Atleast the child is in a place where people show love, compassion, and actually care about him. So things are getting better. It just needs a little bit of time that's all.

As callous as it sounds to say it, you can't feed a child on love and compassion.

If these people can hardly afford formula and still pay the bills, what are they going to go if the baby gets sick? Does he have health care? What if some complication arises because of the mother's drug use? What about the baby's other needs? (toys, clothes, etc.) It sounds like one hell of a precarious position to me.

There are government programs that will provide aid, but I don't think they'll kick in until custody has been decided. Call Child Protection Services and have them take care of the baby until the legal wrangling is done. It really is the best thing you can do to protect the child from harm.

Thanks again for everyone who has sent formula. Ive seen some tracking information on some of the formula that will be going to Sherry so the baby will be fed.

There are no updates on the situation at Sherrys house because I cannot contact her until monday. She is at her moms house helping take care of the baby.
