cliffs notes : I'm thinking about transfering and I'm looking for a large school in california as an option. Need some advice on places to look.
Long story : I'm a second semester sophmore at a small college pretty close to home in New England right now and I'm pretty much just not getting much from it. It seems like every time I talk to someone about school I end up sounding really disapointed with where I'm at. The size gets to me a little, weekends are pretty tame around here and there's really nothing in the immediate area to do. That's not to say I don't end up drunk frequently on the weekends, it just feels like every weekend, every party is the same.
On top of that I don't really feel like I'm getting the education I had in mind when I decided to come here, which is really the primary reason to look elsewhere. Ideally I'd like to end up with a degree in computer science/information technology with a minor in business, and it's impossible for me to do that here.
I didn't really look at big schools when I was applying from high school because I convinced myself that I would get lost in the crowd...now I see the draw in going somewhere you can meet new people on a regular basis instead of feeling like you're at a slightly larger high school. I'm looking at california because I've never been there, and I think the warm weather would help me deal with day-to-day BS.
It may be that it's been a bad semester, but either way it's something I want to look into...everyone keeps saying that these are supposed to be the best years of our life and I don't feel like I'm going to look back and see it that way unless I try to make a significant change. Any suggestions on schools or just names I can take a look at to research would be much appreciated. Thanks
EDIT: looks like the San Diego area is nice...any suggestions on schools in area are welcome. Computer Science with a minor in Business is probably what I'm looking at, and preferably not at a tech or polytech...I'd rather be around non-CS majors most of the time based on my experience here.
