Why are people obsessed with violence?
Why are people obsessed with geeky stuff like computers?
At least nobody dies by computers.
look, first off your logic sucks. thousands of people die each year by car, should we get rid of them?
secondly, it's been proven time and time againt hat gun control doesn't work. look at chicago and washington DC. highest murder rates in the US but they have a citywide ban on firearms. coincidence? heppenstance? i think not.
Fine. Let me rephrase. At least the main purpose of a car or a computer (or American Idol) isn't to kill at long range.
The main purpose of a gun isn't to kill - the purpose is to fire a projectile at extremely high velocities to a degree of accuracy. What you do with that projectile is up to you. Saying that the purpose of a gun is to kill is the same as saying that the purpose of a car is to drive to granny's for thanksgiving. It's a particular possibility, but the car is a tool with many "purposes" - as is the gun.
Huh? Face it, however you want to sugarcoat it, guns were designed with intent of killing or maiming people or animals. They didn't start making guns to make loud noises, or enjoy the fireworks, they were designed to kill. Since their invention, other possibilities (target shooting, etc) have become popular, but a gun was first designed to kill.
The purpose of a car IS to drive grannies for Thanksgiving, because driving grannies at Thanksgiving is transportation, which is exactly what a car was designed for.
