Never heard of Tool
I've never heard of "Tool" either. But looking at their videos they are some screwed up dudes. Seriously screwed up.
Did you two just straight up sleep through the 90's? You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing Tool for a while.

Should we make a list of other ultra-popular things over the last few decades to see if you missed that too?

They aren't screwed up. This world we live in can be a dark place, and Tool has always been about using pain and suffering as an inspiration to create something magnificent.

Well I'm not one to buy expensive Status Symbols shoes, and I didn't even own a cell phone until 2010, and why are you showing us a glass of water for?

Because pump sneakers and razer phones were as ubiquitous as water during the 90's and early 00's. I'm as surprised that you haven't heard of those as I would be if you said you'd never heard of water.

Which stations were playing music by Tool? During the 90's I've lived in Illinois ~15 to 20 mins away from St Louis and doing so currently. And I mostly listened to Y98.1 at the time.

Razr phones were not released until 2004. The late 90s belonged to StarTAC. The early 90s belonged to bag and brick phones.

You were listening to an adult contemporary station in your 20s?

i remember those first motorola flip phones...it was like $80 for 60 minutes...back then, there was no data, no texting, no LTE, 4G, 5G, etc...

I know, I wasn't specifying 90's as the only time period that I was referencing, just generally referencing 90's and 00's which was generally the era that belonged to the rock music that Tool belonged to.

Don't remember, I think 97.1? in the Dallas area. It's been a hot minute since I had to remember that channel number though. That was the normal 'rock/metal/modern' station around those parts. Nowadays I just listen to Tool mp3's (among others) or NPR. For some reason, whoever bought all the local radio stations in America has decided to only play trash on repeat so there's not much worth listening to anymore.

Most of the StarTACs were analog only (maybe the later versions supported digital as well). The coverage was awesome. I could enjoy conference calls from remote canyons.
