The people you mentioned are definitely not representative of their group.
When making an assessment, it's rare that one can ever be 100% correct. But you can look at the *percentages* involved and get a pretty good idea that way. This is true no matter what the subject is.
For example, if we were to talk about the lifespan of people, I can say that on average a man lives to about 73 years old. Now you can correctly point out that some people have lived to 105, but that would be a statistical minority, definitely not the majority. If we broke it down to percentages, you may see that 90% make it to 60, 70% make it to 70, and it would drop off drastically after there... maybe only 50% make it to 72, 30% to 80, 10% to 90. and maybe 1% to 95.
If you looked at it on a chart, it would be visible as a sharply dropping slope.
So yes, you will always find "stragglers", people who seem to defy their demograohic. But they will be the minority, not the vast majority.
