I've been sleeping on my Tempurpedic pillow for the past week... i got the standard size. ANyone finding this too high for them? I'm waking up with a bit of neck pain and it seems like the pillow neck rest is too high. I'm using the regular size and not the XL. I'm 5'8" tall.

I find the Tempurpedic fine for me--actually on the low side as I'm 6'4".

My wife finds it fine and is a side sleeper--she's 5'4".

There is a pretty easy way to tell what size Tempur-Pedic pillow you need. Just measure from the side of your shoulder to your neck. If it's, say, 4 inches, then get that size pillow. Also, always use the high side under your neck. That's why they have different sizes.

We got our Ashley Cooper queen size mattress cover and love it. It ships with a tag stating that it was made by a company named Foamex. This is the same company that's makes the memory foam pillows and mattress pads for Mark's 1/2 Price Bedding which is sold on ebay.

I have the sharper image foam pillow, and it's noticeably smaller than the Costco novaform. One fact I noticed immediately after trying the Costco pillow is that it is much harder, does not allow my head to sink as far into it, and was much harder for me to sleep on. The SI pillow was much softer, allowed me to sink into it, and was much easier on my neck. Looks like I might have to return the Costco pillow.

I will have to try the Isotonic or thermapeutic....

I think people will find the Memory Foam Factory Contour Pillows and mattress toppers to be of the highest quality at the most competitive prices. They have 4.3 lb density contour pillows and mattress toppers at AMAZING prices. Check them out. www.memoryfoamfactory.com.
Hope this helps everyone, their pillows start at 39.95!!

after reading most of this thread, I decided on buying some new sleep gear. I spent some time looking at the various websites relating to foam mattress pads and pillows and felt Comforthouse.com to be the best combo of what I wanted and warranty. I purchased an Isotonic Pillow Standard, an Isotonic Perfect Pillow, and also an Isotonic Mattress Pad (queen overlay). about a week later, I got to try out my purchases.

the standard pillow is too hard for either my or my girlfriend's preferences, so I am going to return that one. the Perfect Pillow and the mattress pad are keepers, however. while neither one is revolutionarily better than our previous sleep gear, they are worthy upgrades.

hope this personal experience can help.

reigle3,
Could you elaborate on the pillows? Carpenter makes a couple of different ones that I know of, including the Isotonic brand and the "Perfect Pillow" along with some hybrid foam combos. For a regular isotonic type with terry cloth cover that's a good price.

"The Perfect Pillow" should be the one that was once sold by Linens 'N Things about 6 months ago. They since discontinued it and now sell a "similar" pillow called The Ultimate Pillow. This one looks almost exactly the same, but I checked it out and it's really different...in a bad way. Made by Sleep Innovations, this "Ultimate" pillow is not nearly as dense as Carpenter's "Perfect Pillow." While it does add an inner layer of mesh material (to protect the foam from moisture), it just doesn't feel very much like memory foam. If you squeese it, the foam bounces back very fast. It reminds me of the now discontinued "Classic" pillow made by Tempur-Pedic (which also lacked the "memory" effect).

If I'm not mistaken, "The Perfect Pillow" is now being sold at Bed Bath & Beyond under the name Isoperfect Pillow. I checked it out and it's the same pillow as the perfect one...and still made by Carpenter of course. It sells for $59.99, so Mark's price of $45.00 seems to be a good deal.

The major difference with this pillow from other memory foam pillows is it's standard shape; it does not have contours.

I've been checking out eBay for some more memory foam pillows (still enjoying my Sharper Image one though!) and found some interesting things. There is one seller promoting a "Royal Touch" memory foam pillow. The picture looked interesting so I emailed him and asked for info from the tag on the pillow. He said it was made by "South Bay International." This is the same company that makes foam pillows for OSIM, a mall store. I decided to order it and sure enough, it's the same pillow as OSIM's. It's dense and feels pretty good. It almost reminds me of a contoured version of "The Perfect Pillow." At any rate, I like the blue cotton/poly cover (nice change from beige or white!). Besides it ended up being about around 30 bucks after shipping.

With my addiction in full force again, I also ordered a Memory Foam pillow from an ebayer that normally sells..get this..ink jet cartridges! They had 100 up for auction at $29.99, so I ordered one. And I was the only bidder. I'll report on it if anyone wants to know...once I receive it that is. The picture looks good, but who knows....it could be as bad as the "hard as a rock" one I got from the "As Seen On TV" Store.

Can you belive I work in IT and have nothing to do with Foam Production? I'm either in the wrong busy or crazy (or both!).

I got the memory foam pillow today from the eBay seller and.....it's awesome. Very thick feel to it and slow recovery time. It also has the inner liner to protect the foam. Dang good deal for $29.99 plus shipping.

It's apparently a Chinese knock off of Tempur-Pedic...but you know what, they did a good job of it. ;)

The seller is inkjetsupply; they have yet to relist the pillows but I am sure they will..in the auction I bid on, there were 100 pillows up...and I'm the only one to bid. They should have about 99 left. ;)

I haven't been reading the forums on the smart foam pillow often, but I need one for my mother. I need a very good one which will last a long time. Let me say this, recently (4 months ago) my mother was injuried (someone shot my mom at work) and now is paralyzed. She stay in her bed most of the day and at least 4 hours in the wheel chair. Because of this, I want to get her a good pillow which will allow her to sleep better and relieave some of the pain in her shoulder and neck. I keep reading these forums but I'm not sure which one are very good and where I can get one right now for cheap or at least affordable, I'm a student so I have a tight budget.

I would like to appoligize if I stated any information that can cause emotions or disapproval but, my reasoning is for you to understand how important it is to find the best pillow for this usage.

thank you

The pillows that I have for the Anandtech special are authentic Carpenter "Perfect Pillow" pillows. They are a soft memory foam with a great feel. They are shaped like a regular pillow. You will see these pillows listed for much higher.

This special is to thank the Anandtech community for their support. I meet a lot of interesting people through this forum.

Thank you,

Mark D. Reigle

dmak, Sorry about your mom. Reigle3's pillow is an excellent choice. You might also consider a mattress topper from him as well. These can help tremendously, particularly when someone is confined to bed. There are also pads for the wheelchair available at various locations. I'd imagine she has a physical therapists at times. Check and see what they might recommend for pillow shape, etc.

I finally returned the Tempurpedic and Isotonic. I find the Isotonic a little too high. I think the Costco has about the same hardness as the Isotonic. The Tempurpedic would be nice if it is cheaper and slightly higher.

I'm with you..

I understand that deals change all the time on these, but can someone who has tried these pillows comment on which is the best deal going on at the moment? I've read through pretty much all of this thread, and I still can't figure out which one is the best!

I think i'm too accustomed to all of the 'clear-cut' other hot deals threads where everything you need to do to get the best deal is pretty much laid out for you.. ;)

reply to "I snore like a mofo, ..." My "ex" claimed that I snored so loud that she couldn't sleep. But my new girlfriend and my son too both say that I sleep quietly.

If you are under a lot of stress, you might do all manner of things that aren't normal for you. My advice: buy the offended person a tape recorder and tell them to record what they hear. And tell them to play back the tapes on the nights after you've had sex. Odds are, those tapes will be REALLY quiet.
