You really have to try out different pillows (in stores probably) to determine what suits you best. Tempurpedic pillows are the most expensive ($100+) and considered by many to be the best but they are too firm and ungiving for some (like me). Another good one is the Isotonic brand made by Carpenter Co. These are about $60 and you can get them at Bed Bath & Beyond and at lots of places online. I used a 20% coupon around the holidays and got one from BB&B for $48 + tax. It's not as hard as the Tempurpedic, partially because it's not as heat-reactive (though it still is somewhat). If your room is sometimes cold, the Tempurpedic might feel a bit stiff. I also have a JCPenney Comfort Zone pillow made by Carpenter Co., but it feels even stiffer than a Tempurpedic to me. My girlfriend gets to use that one. (Nice guy, huh?) And of course there's the whole contoured vs. old school debate. I kinda like the contoured.

Here's my pillow trick after having some really bad neck problems.

Roll a towel up until it looks like a column about 4-5 inches in diameter, rolled like one of those jelly rolls, and is the length of your pillow. I usually find that a bath towel folded over lengthwise once will make a good roll. Then stick it into your pillow case and position it at the bottom edge of your pillow so that when you lay your head on the pillow, the roll is always under your neck. This provides great support for your neck and keeps your head's weight from straining your neck and shoulders. My gf has a foam memory pillow and was having neck problems after sleeping too many nights on bad beds. I've had this setup on my pillow for several months now and have not had any neck problems since doing it. My girlfriend tried it one night and woke up without any neck problems. Then I had to make a roll for her! She sticks it in her foam pillow and it works for her, although her roll's diameter is smaller than mine. I think because she is just proportionately smaller than me.

I just wrote this because I read all these people spending big money for a pillow that works. Mine doesn't cost me more than getting an old towel out of the linen closet. I learned this trick from my physical therapist who was treating me with electro-therapy, massage, and stretching. I paid her lots of money and then she told me that my pillow was probably at fault. She also showed me how to use a body pillow or multiple pillows to hold onto to better align my legs and arms when I sleep. By keeping a pillow under my arm and leg (I sleep on my side), I can keep my spine aligned while I sleep, further reducing any strain.

Plus if your roll comes loose after a lot of sleeping, you can just roll it up again and it is like new.

Hope this helps some others. Feel free to PM me if you want more details or don't understand my pillow roll thing.

JC Penny has the smart memory pillow on-sale in store for $39.99 right now - from $59.99 - and there is an extra 10% off in-store. This makes it around $36 plus local taxes...

Ok guys, help me out. I've decided to get one of these Memory Foam Pillows. I found two that are reasonably priced, on is the NovaFoam available at Costco for $26.99 and the other is the Comfort Zone for $24.99 at SmartBargains. Any opinions on either of these?

I had the Tempur mattress for $2k and returned it, glad they give you 3 months.

the pillows are the same as Tempur ( I think ) and 1/3 the price.

Just get back from Costco, according to people work there, Novafoam Matress Pad is a discountinue item.
Only way to buy it is from website.
I was there last week, and they have bunch of those pads in stock, and now all of them are gone.

Sharper Image stores and sharperimage.com have their memory foam pillows at 50% off with the purchase of another item. I bought two standard size pillows plus a 2yr extended warranty for $82 plus tax at a store. I've only slept on it one night, but it has good weight like a TempurPedic. This pillow was listed as Atrac's #3 on his favorites list. Sharper Image offers a 60 day money back guarantee.

I bought a 3" pad. It was fantastic at first, but there is some loss of bounce. Now it's just good after 6 months. I'l report back in another 6 months.

I bought this pad, and found it to be OK for the money. They are now selling it for $49 and change.......when I bought it I paid $59 and change, so right now its a better deal. If you have a mattress that does not sag, I would recommend it......again, especially for the money.

I have a memory pillow now for about 2 years--bought at Brookstone.

The foam has lost much of its puffiness or foamness. Still works, but not like when new. I wouldn't pay $99 for one again.

You may not have to. For those who missed my post, you may be able to find a cheap one that is very high quality here:

Isotonic

It scanned $19.99 in the store! So, if you call, have them scan it.

If you missed the previous posts, it looks as though Brookstone is exchanging Tempurpedic pillows that have lost their foamness for free.

Dang, spent 4+ hours reading this thread and looking over some of the recommended sites and to compare prices. Now I really need a memory foam pad and pillow to sleep on :)

I like my Novafoam pillow I bought from Costco and will probably buy one of the 4" toppers from one of the more trusted ebay venders since I sleep both on my side and back. Thanx all!

I can't compare against other foam pads, but I found the Ashley Cooper pad to be decent. It's on the soft side, and not very thick. If you're on a budget, it's still a good deal but it's probably worth investing in a real, high density pad rather than a budget pad.

Sorry for the previous blank post. Just wanted to say I bought both the costco Novafoam pillow and a real tempr-pedic pillow (for $70.00 at a local store) and decided that the difference is day and night. No comparison here, the tempur-pedic pillow is worth the money, the Novafoam pillow is simply a foam with some elasticity but the foam from the tempur-pedic is truelly memory-foam. You pay for what you get.

So what is the verdict on the memory foam mattress pads? What are the high quality ones and from where? eBay? From waht I'm reading, it looks like 4" is the way to go?

Is rapidrae a.k.a The Memory Foam SUPERSTORE @ eBay one of the reputable sellers of the 4" pad?
I also wish someone would summarize 11 pages of threads for the late people.
