You are joking? I got mine from Scan & had the same problem although the pin wasn't broken so I was able to reseat it. I think the problem is the neanderthals at Citylink rather than Scan though.

aparantly its a common problem for these boards, you and i arent the only people to have the heatsink hanging off on arrival, i live 30mins away from Scan and i picked mine up, i didnt look at it before set off home, but from now on im checking everything before i leave that carpark. :(

But OMG i thought it was just me who thought that Citylink were a bunch of wankers.

look back a couple of posts. he told me his temps. Just remember to add 15C to them :) His vcore is in his sig. Of course that is his OC vcore.

Anybody experienced somthing similar?

I have the system shown in my signature. Yesterday I opened the machine in order to mount a front 120 mm fan. I also switched around a harddrive and tidied up some cables. Before I took it apart it was overclocked to 3 ghz. I've been running at this speed for a couple of days, and its been stable (tested with prime95). When I powered on the machine after putting it back together, it would not boot at the previous overclock, but reset itself back to stock speed. I managed to get it back up to 3 ghz after some hassle, but then the same thing happened again. Its perfectly stable at 3 ghz, but 2 times now it has reset itself during boot. I've been speculating if it could have something to do with my external Mybook USB drive being plugged in.

Would appreciate any thoughts about this.

Yep. That's happened a couple of times to me too although not after poking around in the case. In fact it happened for no reason whatsoever, no crash, just a normal restart. The first I noticed it was when it seemed a bit slow so I started up cpu-z & found it had gone back to 2.67GHz. It's not really one you can go to Gigabyte support with is it?

5t3v0,

I have been meaning to ask you about your 8800gts overclock. In your sig you state (612/1800), is the 1800 a dual data rate number? So are you really at (612/900)? What are you using to OC that card?

Yeah, that's the double data rate so its at 900MHz. Should change the sig really. I'm using Rivatuner 2.02 with the 162.22 forceware divers. The card came factory overclocked at 560/850 so its not a very impressive increase. I was getting artifacts above 900MHz mem speed & lockups above 612MHz core speed. Mind you, the last time I tested it was on XP so perhaps I should try again now I'm on Vista & new drivers. I was using the ATITool artifact scan to do the stability testing.

A bit off topic - sorry mods!

Edit: There, I've changed it.

Ok, back to the GA-P35C-DSR. I was just making sure his board was not giving him super OC numbers on his vid care :) lol. yeah, that's right. :)

I wonder if anyone could help with setting up my pc, I have ordered, Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz 1333FSB Socket 775 4MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor. Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Socket 775 CPU Cooler, EVGA 8800GTS SuperClocked 320MB DDR3 DVI PCI-E Graphics Card, OCZ StealthXStream 600W PSU - SLI Ready ATX2.2 12cm LED Fan
2 x Crucial 1GB DDR2 PC2-6400/800MHz CL4-4-4-12 Ballistix 2.2V SLI Ready
The components are due to arrive next week, I have a number of concerns in my mind which I hope someone could help with ?
1. I choose the memory from recommendations in magazines, I noticed that the memory runs at a 2.2v, after reading through the forum I can see default ddr voltagae for the mobo is 1.8v. Will the mobo auto detect the required voltage or will I have to put a value of 2.2v in the bios and if so how will I do this?
2. My overclocking experience so far is fairly limited, certainly not increasing any voltages, just setting memory speed i.e. 533 and then setting cpu fsb i.e. 266 getting a 1:1 ratio and leaving it at that. With this new pc I surmise it is going to be more involved than that. I am hoping some member will give me some help/advice in how to overclock this mobo. I am fairly confident of assembling the components when they arrive, I am hoping to be able to boot up at default settings and install os, let the system settle down and then hopefully overclock to a reasonable speed. Anyone got any advice to help me get there? Thank you ??.Jim

Good choice on your rig :)

As for question #1, the mobo initial ram setup is 1.8V. Your ram say is requires 2.2V. I have the same ram and same mobo as you. My ram worked fine at 1.8 even at 3.2 overclock. If there is any problem @ POST you can always go into your bios and adjust your ram voltage up to 2.2v. I bet you won't have any problem at 1.8v though.

#2. Have you read this whole tread? I believe it has been covered here. If not, come back and we will help.

Here's a reminder of my recommended settings:

Originally posted by: 5t3v0

Advanced BIOS Features
-----------------------------
Limit CPUID Max to 3 = Disabled
No Execute Memory Protect = Disabled
CIE = Disabled
TM2 = Disabled
CPU EIST = Disabled
Virtualization = Disabled

MB Intelligent Tweaker - press CTRL-F1 before going into this screen to bring up extra options
--------------------------
Robust Graphics Booster = Disabled
CPU Host Clock Control = Enabled
PCI Express Frequency = 100
C.I.A.2 = Disabled
Performance Enhance = Standard
System Memory Multplier = 2.00
High Speed RAM DLL Settings = Option 1 (dont think this does anything when manual timings are set)
DRAM Timing Selectable = Manual (set the 4-4-4-12 timings manually)
System Voltage Control = Manual (if NB over volting required)

If you need to increase the DDR voltage then this board adds 0.1v increments to the default 1.8v, so that +0.4 = 2.2v.

Check also that your RAM timings aren't defaulted to a safe setting e.g. 5-5-5-18. Set them manually to be sure.

Thank you for your help, the components come on Wednesday from E-buyer, I have noted the comments on Citylink, I have a positive feeling but also comfortable I could come back for further help, but I will check to see if the questions have already been asked.........Jim

Thanks to all who have posted, I'm following this thread with my life.

It's my first Intel build and only my second computer at the age of 36! Expect some daft questions....
Built the rig in the sig for £900 minus the monitor. I still have the listings if anyone wants to know exactly where from.
Delivered to Sheffield. Ordered Tuesday 4th Sept, built by Thursday. No probs with CityLink or any parts.

Change those RAM timings manually. This board read my corsair as 5-5-5-18 which was b0llocks.

Edit: Meant to say, nice choice of bits. BTW, I'm 37 & still geeking around with this stuff. I probably do a system upgrade every 18 months & a cpu/ram upgrade every 12 months. Waste of time really as I only play half a dozen games a year :)

How risky was this? I don't have time to do all the tweaking (Single Dad - 2 Daughters!), so I've abused your knowledge base here and over at Toms place......

I've used 5T3V0's (Many Thanks!) settings from page 8 on this board and copied other settings from here:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/...-timing-prob-p35c-ds3r

My 6750 is at 3200 (400x8) and cool at 32-34 degrees after 1 hour of PC95.

Only concern is that memory reads 500mhz frequency in CPU-Z.

Rig ran smooth from initial build, although my Antec 900 looks a real mess inside.
Initial Futuremark 06 was in the 6000's on full settings 1920X1200.
Just finished again and after those new Bios settings and got 10101.

Any tips anyone on how to test it's stability in other ways?

Will play a few games and run PC95 all night and post again. To stress the whole set up - which is the best setting in PC95 or any other progs. People use different set ups but I trust your judgment now my PC is offensively faster than before..

Nice rig. Use orthos to test. Just google it and download. People say run blend test for 12 -24 to be fully stable. I'm running 3.2 now. I don't need to go any higher now. I have done 3.4 and 3.6 but didn't have enough patience to test for 24 hours :)

Memory timing are quick and easy to change. Press "ctrl +f1" at bios menu. Nothing will appear to happen but you actually unlocked some advanced settings. Go into MIT and then change you memory settings.

I take it you're running P95 on both cores? Orthos makes it easier. Also try Thermal Analysis Tool from Intel. Lots of loops of 3dmark05/06 cpu test will also work.

What speed did you want to run your RAM at? Sounds like you've got it on auto? If you run it 1:1 then you could get the timings down below stock. Otherwise use a divider to run it higher - those sticks are good for 533 & beyond probably.

Thanks 5T3V0 - Nice to know I'm not alone!
I wasn't intentionally running 95 on both - but both temps shot from 20-22 at idle to 32-34 full load with Intels TAT program.

As I'm teaching myself After Effects, I suppose I need it to run as fast as possible, but I'm still concerned about the 500mhz. I just can't get my head around some saying their Ballistix is at 1200??

I know I'm missing something here, but I haven't overclocked since my Ex-Wife bought me a TI4200 waaaay back.....

OK - Mem Timings from CPU-Z.
Freq 500mhz
(no idea why there's a smiley there - can't edit it out)
FSB:DRAM 4:5
CAS# latency 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# 6 clocks
RAS# Precharge 6
Cycle 18

ANY tips will be recipricated with flamboyant and appreciative comments!

My guess is your running the RAM on a 2.5 divider (System Memory Multiplier setting). 400 x 2.5 = 1000 (DDR speed). To get the 1200 setting on that bus speed, you need to set the 3.0 divider. What speed are you trying to get?

I don't know exactly what crucial chips you bought but i believe your timings should be set at 5-5-5-15. Maybe they can do better but that's what i see from newegg. You have fast enough memory that it would not be the problem for over clocking.

this is where i get confused. shouldn't he set his divider to 2.0 and run his memory 1:1? Isn't that the best performance?

Also, right now only use coretemp 0.95.4. It is the only one that has accurate temps for the G0 steppings (100C Tjunction max) Everything else is 15C lower.
