thanks. well zipzoom is rma'ing it with no restocking fee - you can have the board for cost + shipping and insurance if you really want it.
since my gf and i do a lot of photography that means a lot to us, the integrity of our data is very important. i do backup on two drives and then some to optical. im looking into building a file server with my old rig - currently i was using sync toy to sync drives but i was going to do a RAID1 setup with this rig but RAID has been another area of weakness for nforce chipsets.
id rather have a mobo that just crashes one day than one that may or may not have a higher chance of corrupting my files, even if its just a few of them. to me, after learning of nVidia's track record even though it seems the 650i is a step in the right direction for that, i am still out.
i want to OC, if i didnt i would have bought slightly different gear. i dont want a crazy OC, i just really wanted something like 3ghz with decent timings, otherwise why by ocz pc 6400 platinum rev. 2?
with the ram voltage at the 2.25v setting i was doing 1t stable at close to 400mhz FSB so ill miss that. the fix for the failed write delay was to goto device manager and the sata/ide controller tab, click properties for each one and make sure native command queing was unchecked then reboot.
i realize that in this business that these products are so complex and companies are in many cases more concerned with bottom line so that these issues get by QC and that as home builders we just have to deal with it to some level. i also realize that no matter where i go, there will be an issue of some kind. so if it was any other issue BUT data corruption i could care less. cold boots OK, sound crackling on onboard sound OK, etc. it is the area in which this specific flaw is where i care the most.
