i wouldnt run at that voltage for a long time. definitely will affect the longevity of your chip.

ocz warranties my ram at 2.2v +/- 5% and i can get 1t timings stable as a rock with the 2.2xx v setting in the bios but i decided to loosen my timings and use less voltage.

Just try 1600/800 and see what happens with your looser timings. You will be 1:1 and it will get you to 3600MHz. Try to put you FSB/Mem speed, CPU speed, timings and voltages in your sig so we can see them, like everyone else has

Can't seem to get there.. I keep cranking everything up to try and reach it. See sig for updates

Raise you memory volts to 2.17 Drop the NB to 1.56 vcore 1.35. your going to overheat with voltages set that high and try a 7 multiplier if the above doesn,t work

did you put any cooling solution on the NB chipset or SB?

you are going to seriously damage your mobo if you dont calm down with the voltages IMO

What do you guys get when you do a dump of cpuz. For the chipsets I get this
Chipset & Memory

Northbridge NVIDIA 650i SLI SPP rev. A2
Southbridge NVIDIA 650i SLI MCP rev. A3 Should be 410 or 430 ???? I think
Graphic Interface PCI-Express
PCI-E Link Width x16
PCI-E Max Link Width x16
Memory Type DDR2
Memory Size 2048 MBytes
Memory Frequency 400.0 MHz (1:1)
CAS# Latency (tCL) 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# (tRDC) 4 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 4 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 12 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 21 clocks
Command Rate 2T

Tried it with no luck. When I changed my multiplier to 7 my bios wouldn't post and I had to reset the cmos.

I have a upgraded fan cooling solutions on both the NB & SB. Plus I cranked all my fans in my case to high. I only tried those settings for a short time to see if I could hit 800/1600.

I'm currently running at 750/1500 with everything dialed back vcore 1.3 NB 1.39.

I would like to get my mem back to 800 but then I wouldn't be at 1:1 and when I changed my multiplier I got no where???

Do you have your ram in the black slots only

Here are JonDoms setting and he has a E6600
C2D 6600 @ 3.6 (9 x 400) 1.42v
Crucial Ballistix Tracers (2GB) 4-4-4-12-2T @ 2.2v
Northbridge 1.5v
Evga 7950GX2 stock.
X-Fi Platinum
Zalman 9700
Silverstone TJ07 with CFP51

You can set your ram to 800. 1420/800 should work just not 1:1

or 1500/800 doesn't matter you can run your memory at 800 anytime you want even 1066/800
Understand?????

Memory does not have to run 1:1 it is just easier to configure then when using odd ratios

I would not do any OC or raise the NB voltage without active cooling on the NB. SB maybe Check the temps I put up for the NB without cooling back aways in this thread

nah, he probably had 3 instances of super-pi going and some cpu-z justwatching the pretty numbers like me :)

Hey, Did you ever do that pencil mod

not yet. i'm not really sure what my vdimm is so i'd rather not mess with it yet. vcore if i use the +100mv option i have 1.60 including vdroop. should be plenty for me right now.

Do you find your CPU temps skyrocketing when you add the +100mv option, then with out it

not really. highest probe temp i have seen on mine is 49c, core 0 68C core 1 69C cpu-z and speedfan. not particularly high in my opinion. especially considering it is 100% load doing small calcs, highest it will ever be. especially considering the default temps for an non-overclocked prescott were probably in that range.

thanks, yeah its a great post. just don't have a voltmeter handy at the moment. my issue is my mem doesn't seem to like over 2.2v anyways. anytime i set it higher it goes wacko. and it can't be heat as my case never goes above ambient.

we have beta bios release

use at own risk.

"remove the battery and boot. Yes, boot WITHOUT the battery! It boots and goes to Windows! Except that my BIOS settings are never saved.

I put back my battery and it boots again. Customize my BIOS and reboot. Problem solved."

Don't do it doesn't work I would take that link off before we get a bunch of dead motherboards Did you read futher down the posts.

turns out my data transfer issues are a known defect of nVidia chipsets.

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=18923

i am calling zipzoomfly and asking for an exception to the return for same product only rule for this as nVidia is selling a clearly deficient chipset.

i am going with intel p965. it is a damn shame that nVidia has such a major defect on such a common function of the motherboard.

Yup I'm using the black slots. I tried JonDoms settings and just can't get windows to boot up @ 1600/800.. I can get to around 1580/775 but I really have to start cranking out the voltage. I can run 1500/750 @ stock voltage with the exception of my NB 1.39. So am I now running my Memory at slower speeds than stock? I can change it to 1500/800 but like I said I don't understand the importance of the 1:1 ratio and how to optimize my FSB/MEM to run my system the fastest. Here's my CPU-Z & Speedfan

same price at zipzoomfly. 141 with shipping and only 2.99 more to get 2-day fed ex which is a great price.

well guys, i told zipzoom that my mobo was defective but i did not want a motherboard with an nvidia chipset since i found out they have known issues with data transfers, a pretty darn basic thing if you ask me. zipzoom has posted that they will only exchange this board, no refunds. after explaining the above zipzoom will take this board back as long as i order another mobo thru them of equal or greater value, which is no biggie since i was planning to do exactly that.

nVidia, it was sweet overclocking with you, but too bad you cant transfer data well.

if you read that thread at the nvidia forums that i linked to, the errors they speak of are the same exact ones i was getting. there is some stuff you can change in device manager, which i just did, that seems to work but then it starts happening again.

you guys all seem pretty cool and knowledgeable, can you recommend a p965 chipset board that is good for 170 or less?

The E6600 is known to not overclock as easy as the E6400 or E6300 but that doesn't mean that it can't be done. You just have to find different configurations that work for you. As far as mem performance to FSB and CPU speed a higher mem speed is better but not always easier to accomplish So to make it simple for you I gave you a ratio of 1:1 so when you set the FSB all you had to do to figure out the mem is to divide the FSB in half also this keeps everything equal as far as bus speed (smoother to oc) So if you want to set your memory to its rated speed of 800 go ahead. Speedfan break down Temp1 37c is your CPU temp. Temp2 36c MB Temp3 25c ???? I get the same temp(uncheck it). HD0 - HD1 Hard drive temps Temp1 40c ????? I get the same temp (uncheck it). Core0 42c and Core1 40c are your core temps. All the uneeded data can be unchecked so you can minimize what you see by unchecking them in the configuration page with in speedfan

That is for the 680i which uses a different SB as the 650i does The 650i uses the old 410/430 MCP (nF430) chipset which is on the 570 platform and had no problems. These online stores usually allow you to exchange for a different MB. I have the P5B deluxe it doesn't clock as easy as I found this one to do but is a little faster overall except for graphics but not far behind at all. So I would recommend the P5B Plus or the Deluxe if you want the P965 chipset. Let me know if you have any problems setting it up. Also browse through the Asus forum and see what your in for. 975 chipset is still the best bet for your needs IMO
