i just gotta ask, are you able to do orthos small fft on that? that has got to be the best OC chip i have ever seen. :) and your bios vcore is? absolutely amazing my friend.

I checked out that database link JonDom posted and there is only one other L630 listed. So maybe its a rare chip. I don't run Orthos. I like TAT but is doesn't run with this chipset. Highest cpu and core temps at 100% load were about. 39-40c for the cpu and about the same for the cores. Core temps are always lower than cpu temps??? All three of my chips run cool this is the coolest core temps tough

guys, i have the p5n-e arriving friday.

what coolers fit this board, im looking for silent.

i would preferably like the ninja revision b, does this fit easily?

if not would the scythe mine fit?

i have ordered the zalman cnps at however other memebers of another orum said that its quite a loud cooler, so now im wanting to go for a scythe cooler.

any comments suggestions welcome.

best regards

sam

Arctic cooling Freezer7 Pro

I agree 100%. I started with the stock cpu cooler and my temps went up above 70C which is way out there as far as intel CPU's are concerned.

After I got the Freezer 7 Pro, my temps at full load went down to 48C and I live in florida and the ambient temp is around 80 degrees. Man is it a lousy winter.

But really, the freezer pro is quiet, a little hard to install until you are used to it (I came from AMD which has a different attachment system - much easier), but overall a great preformer. I would also recommend a chipset cooler (active or passive). Heat pipes. The Thermalright HR-05/HR-05 SLI either with a fan for serious OCing or no fan for the extremely quiet PC. If you do use a fan, I would also look at the AcoustiFan DustPROOF Noiseless Computer Fan - 70mm. I got two fans and 1 each of the HR's. The HR-05 for the Northbridge and the HR-05 SLI for the Southbridge. You do not kneed active cooling on the SB but it does get hot to the touch.

Its to bad I corrupted by BIOS on my board and had to RMA it (ASUS need to go to a socket BIOS instead of the soldered one). I guess ASUS figured that there was no way to do this but once again, I proved them wrong.

What happend flashed it with that Beta Bios?

so out of the zalman and the artctic freezer 7 which is the most silent?

does the scythe ninja revision B fit this board? this would be my preference.

core temps should never be lower than cpu temps. core temp is on the die, should be a good deal hotter. but still very cool running chip.

No BETA BIOS. Just tried to push it too hard and corrupted it. All I got was the BIOS screen without any information on it except a couple of off colored arrows.

Tried clearing the CMOS and removing the battery with PSU unplugged but it just would not do anything.

gonna have to take my cooler off to get my numbers. doht. forgot to do that before hand. plus i want to re-apply my as5. i was having issues putting my HSF on as this is my first intel build. do you guys like this push-pin retainer method? i feel better knowing i have some screws or something holding this bad boy on.

I believe the core temps over the cpu temp sensor

Did you try recovering from the CD I helped a few with the same problem you had and all were able to re flash. You can also use a flash drive or floppy too. Wish you came here first

Try the MX-1
You'll be glad you did and if doesn't lower you temps in five days to what you are running now I'll send you money you paid for it. Newegg gets it in and it sells out in a couple days and it last for 8yrs

I still have the mobo. The post office was closed yesterday so I could not mail it.

Here is what I got. The fans spinn, no beeps, buzzez or any other indication that it is alive except that the FDD drive lit and so did the CDROM drive. I tried putting the CD in but nothing happened and I just probably did not do something right. Monitor does not get a signal.

This is what I tried.

Cleared CMOS with jumpers.
Cleared CMOS by removing battery.
Cleared CMOS by unplugging PSU and using both of the methods above.
Unplugged the PSU and removed the battery for over 8 hours.
Removed the mobo from the case, removed CPU, MEMORY, PCIeX. Cleared CMOS and replaced items - no go.
Tried new memory - no go.
Tried new video card - no go.

I am willing to unpack and try again if you think that you can help. I also removed the passive heatsink and replaced it with a passive one. Hope that it did not cause problems for the NB nVidia.

Seeing you have it all packed up send it back. Is it a Asus RMA or dealer. If you take to an authorized Asus service center they will fix it and upgrade your bios to 308. You could have damaged something removing the NB heatsink and could be your problem. No need to take the NB heatsink off just put a small fan on it and monitor the temps if you believe its getting hot.

You can get the numbers off the box if you didn't throw it away.

Comparo's

I am a long time AS5 user and believe me it works and is non conductive so getting any on other components does not smoke your board. Just put a good dab on, don't try to spread it and put your HSF on it and give it a couple of twists with downward pressure to spread it out lock down you HSF done

i think i may have to get some of that. i have seen a few other reviews and they all suggest that mx-1 is better.

How much of a PITA is taking off the NB heatsink. I was planing to put a NB waterblock on mine. If the NB is easily damaged by heatsink removal, I may have to rethink my cooling strategy.

Its easy. The heatsink uses the push pin connectors. Do it before you put your motherboard in the case. Both the NB and SB can use the standard push pin holders.

As far as the CPU is concerned, the Freezer 7 PRO has a similar push pin design. Not the best way to secure a large unit to the motherboard but it does accomplish its goals.

I am sure that I did not damaged the NB by removing the HS. A water block will work fine as far as I can tell. Put passive cooling on the south bridge also.
