1080i = 1920 x 1080

Just an FYI

The progressive scan is what makes it look clearer and what im stating is that as much as you think there is no difference between 1080i and 1080p i personally think there is a difference

You remind me of that old SNL skit where Sylvester Stallone works at a computer store and keeps telling people that they don't want to buy that computer because its gay.

What does a fixed pixel display do to an interlaced signal before it displays it?

It all depends on your source (movie vs. film), your TV and your player.

You do realize that every consumer flat panel TV displays a progressive signal right? Every LCD and plasma TV is either 720p or 1080p.

I always find it interesting to see posts like his.

The sad part is that unsuspecting customers might actually believe his misinformation.

I sell all different types of home theater...LCD, Plasma blu ray hd-dvd so if you have questions let me know.

Most HD-DVD players = 720P/1080i

Blu Ray = 1080P

I watch Plasmas and LCDs all day long with both players and Blu Ray is dominating in sales as compared to the HD-DVD and the picture quality on the Blu Ray smokes HD-DVD.

720p/1080i = 1/2 Resolution of 1080P

When you came home, did you put your Best Buy shirt on the hanger so it didn't get wrinkled?

lol

Anybody who knows even the most basic of HD understands if the player or TV does interlacing correctly. There is almost no visible difference between 1080i and 1080p.

Are you kidding me NO VISIABL DIFFERENCE between 1080P and 1080i? 2 1080p tvs, one on hd-dvd 1080i and one on blu ray 1080p and you think there is no difference? What ever you say but there is the 1080i definitly not as clear.

Would you like an add-on warranty for that mistaken information? How about a 3-year for $199.99? Can we throw in a free Best Buy Rewards Zone membership with that?

Please dude, get rid of your trash info. I regularly go to several high-end AV places that have fine tuned the Pioneer Kuro 50" 720p and 1080p sets, they have both hooked up to BR and HD DVD. I have asked them to switch back and forth between 1080p and 1080i and I cannot, for the life of me, tell the difference. They can't either. Nobody really can in a blind sight test.

If you're talking 60"+ sets, then maybe. Even if you were aiming for that you're not exactly budget concious and, will most likely, buy a 1080p player that either side offers.

See, this is what most BD bots do not understand. Not everybody needs nor wants 1080p capable players. The cheaper for them ,the better. Additionally, most discerning people know there is no difference anyway.

Yes almost no visual difference provided your player or tv does the interlacing correctly.
Which big box outlet do you work for anyways? Who is feeding you this crap about 1080p being vastly superior to 1080i?

DONY BUY VIZIO OR ANY OFF BRAND TV FIRST OF ALL THE SUCK SECOND OF ALL THERE IS MOST LIKELY A NAME BRAND TV THAT WILL OUT PERFORM IT FOR THE SAME PRICE OR A FEW DOLLARS MORE.

A quote from later in this thread:
What ever i dont need to sit here and argue with you retarded people. Your just like the people that come in and this Vizio is made by sony and Sayo as good as panasonic.

I started this topic to help people but you asshole forum people just got to act like bad asses and fuck shit up

DELETE MY TOPIC AND GO BUY A VIZIO AND 1080i

Well, as a matter of fact you're not going to get to sit there and argue any more, whether you wanted to or not. The people here aren't retarded. In fact, despite your trolling, the people responding in this thread have demonstrated that they can read the rules for these forums, particulary the parts about trolling and personal attacks (not to mention, they can spell and use proper grammar.) It's not the topic that's about to be deleted...
