but probably over all there are more blu ray player sold in the first place because they are clearer. I stare at them all day you can see pixilation is 1080i where its crisp in 1080p

Anybody who knows even the most basic of HD understands if the player or TV does interlacing correctly. There is almost no visible difference between 1080i and 1080p.

Are you kidding me NO VISIABL DIFFERENCE between 1080P and 1080i? 2 1080p tvs, one on hd-dvd 1080i and one on blu ray 1080p and you think there is no difference? What ever you say but there is the 1080i definitly not as clear.

You do realize that both HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray discs are 1080p, right? Yes, some HD-DVD players only output in 1080i, but there are Blu-Ray players that only do that too. Either way, with a capable TV, even with a 1080i player you aren't going to notice much of a difference (if any) since the resolution is the same.
 
NO!!! if you look on the back of the DVD case HD-DVD says 1080i...Blu ray says 1080P!!! I have cases at work. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN PICTURE QUALITY but for someone like you that doesnt stare at them all day would never see it

Really? I just grabbed the first HD-DVD in my stack, Children of Men, and it says "Video: 1080p High Definition Widescreen. 1.85:1"

Oh wait, so do ALL of my HD-DVDs.

So, now that we've clearly established that you're as uninformed as most of the Walmart TV salesmen out there, I bid you adieu.

52" is too small to fully realize the benefit of 1080p according to the experts. If most of his viewing is HD and he sits 10' away I would recommend at least a 60" screen.

Fail. Brightness controls your black level. Contrast controls your white level (sorta). You should adjust your brightness first (you don't want to see "below black") and then set your contrast. All of this can be done using a simple HT setup DVD like Avia.

Oh and BR and HD-DVD are basically the exact same in terms of PQ. 1080i == 1080p if your processors is good enough and you are watching film.

Why did you state that the resolution of 1080i was basically the same as the resolution of 720p? Do you believe that 1080i and 1080p have different resolutions?
