Big deal, he'll just ignore it.

And when companies claim their money back, they won't lower prices back to pre tariff prices
Many of the people I follow are saying basically this—the Admin doesn’t even need to beg Congress as they have other “non-emergency” avenues to skirt this decision and impose the same tariffs on a temporary or semi-permanent basis.

Seeing a lot of chatter about Section 122/301 of the 1974 Trade Act, Section 338 of the 1930s era Tariff Act—all of which are still on the books and many of which have never been used before (ie no legal precedent against their use so SCOTUS can throw him a bone.) Oh…and he can always use the “national security” excuse.

IEEPA tariffs were ruled illegal so everything collected under them will need to be refunded. Companies will have to fight it out in court but you can bet your ass they are gonna get that bread.

Other new tariffs can be imposed under a variety of authorities but it's more difficult and they would have done it that way if it wasn't in the first place. That will all end up in court as well and in another year we could end up with a similar SCOTUS decision.

Also, I doubt courts are going to look kindly at trying to reimpose these under different authority. The shifting rationale Trump uses and the shifting authorities shows in the judicial record the arbitrary nature, which undercuts all the other avenues he can try to impose his national sales tax.

To say they will be turning a skeptical eye on them is an understatement. Also Trump, very conveniently, just comes out and says the real reason he's doing it all the time and scuttling government lawyers arguments.

The issue is that the big companies will start process to Trump and losing those companies might hurt the USA hard.

The conservative majority are some of the worst motherfuckers on the plant and we are bound to get more horrifying decisions that are anti-constitutional but fucking with the money is a bridge too far for even them. See also: stopping him from firing Fed governors.
I said months and months ago that it was the courts' job to save us from the megalomania of DJT. It was the lower courts that showed the pulse of this for a while and I was wondering if and when the SCOTUS would wake up. Well, looks like it's starting to happen. Shooting down wholesale tariffs by executive order is a clear salvo in this. Weird times.
Trump wants to be Putin in a country that don't allow it.
Well put.

But with how spineless Repugican leadership is, who cares if there are guardrails to not allow it. And he’s getting enough mall cops that they’d be willing to push opponents out of windows. ‘MURICA us far closer to Putin’s Russian than the Land If The Free

The margin of allow VS don't allow was 2 people. TWO!!
On the question of the most illegal and egregious overreach by the executive over the legislative. Where it directly injured all Americans, including the rich and wealthy.

This country has allowed a LOT thus far. Finally reaching a point where a Court says no is the start of our true test. Whether such tyranny is enacted by complicity or by force. The reactions and repercussions of the Court decision will be the true test.

A couple of good press pool questions should do the trick
"Mr. President, from the day you first announced your intent to implement these tariffs, people told you that you didn't have the authority to do so. You did it anyway. Now the Supreme Court, including Justices you appointed, have told you in no uncertain terms that you never had this authority and that you were and are wrong. Will you own up to your error and work to make whole the people harmed by your illegal conduct?"

That should do it.

Maybe he'll announce he's having them executed for sedition and that he'll be appointing replacements tomorrow.

A "concept" of a back-up plan coming “in two weeks.”?

The back-up plan, he's going to make sure all that tariff money he illegally collected disappears into foreign crypto accounts + Hegseth and Noem's budgets for plans to start more wars and fill more prison camps.

“The court, in a 6-3 opinion, ruled that the president lacked the justification to impose the tariffs during peacetime.”

Trump's backup plan is war with Iran

And then hopefully impeachment.

His response is an unhinged rambling on all generic topics.
Then he just spoke like this:
  • "I can DESTROY the trade"
  • "I can DESTROY the country"
  • "I can do anything I want, but I cannot charge them $1?"
