We sure could end up in a situation where Trump tries to reconstruct his tariff regime through other methods and it keeps ending up back in court and getting ruled illegal. Nothing obviously wrong with a wildly gyrating trade regime surely....

I still have never heard an actual reason for a trade war?! Other than Navarro convinced Trump it would cause a "huge economic boom.....uh...eventually"

This sudden claim of the tariffs being regulatory and not revenue driven is ridiculous, given Trump has been claiming that is EXACTLY why he likes and imposes them - to draw revenue for paying down the deficit. Plus ... Trump fucked up the whole "emergency" when he hit Canada because they ran an ad showing Reagan was against tariffs and imposing tariffs on an island with no people.

When the rubber hits the road the conservatives on the court will give Donald and his tariffs a lifeline. We'll see. It seems the arguments the conservatives on the court made when they overturned emissions EOs and student loan EOs are the same arguments the plaintiffs are making in the tariff case. It will be interesting to see if they will turn their backs on their own words because a Republican is in the WH.

Sotomayor had the biggest "to the point" argument - If as claimed that tariffs were not a tax burden on the American people, why would you not just simply cut off all imports from a country? No trade, no tariff income, no taxpayer burden. Problem solved!

Trump has been a tariff maniac for longer than I have been alive. Navarro, who is nuts btw, simply is a fellow traveler who mirrors this belief back to him.

If they rule against him, I'm waiting for all the lawsuits against the federal government for the damage they've done to all these small businesses

Who gets the money? American customers paid the illegal taxes. Will the customers get the refunds or the importers?

We the customers get jack and shit. The corporations that imported stuff will get refunds.

Oh and the prices won't be coming down because you know.. we have been willing to pay them and all..
