I can see the number of posts and views on this long-running topic.
I will pronounce my own view under the current national news circumstances.
The Supreme Court should reject Trump's ability to impose tariffs. Again, just one argument of "taxation without representation" but what Trump has done has never been permitted under the Law.
The argument that reversing the tariffs will cost an enormous sum is no excuse. The American people who elected this Criminal did it to themselves and to ourselves. The damage is damage done by Trump. Trump owns it.
Reverse the tariffs. We cannot compromise the Law and principle just because Trump says to do so is costly. He's the one who caused this to happen. He can own it.
People of succeeding generations should learn from history. History has already started to rhyme, without exactly repeating itself. Everything that has happened since the election of the Criminal has been a disaster. How can someone argue otherwise? The economy is not doing well. Millions of American citizens have been hurt. Venezuelans have been killed outright without due process of Law. The "Shutdown" has cost us and the economy. Look at the people who've had SNAP interrupted and those facing unacceptable health insurance premiums. If you want an anecdotal argument in addition to the obvious and publicly factual, consider that I have a house that is paid for, I run my life in the "black", have a regular and dependable retirement income. But all of this hurts me nevertheless, as I have to see it in the news. Who, who is not a sociopath and narcissist, is not hurt by all the suffering since January? Who is so ignorant or stupid or meanspirited that they cannot see the Injury to America? How could we possibly be "Great Again"? With Nick Fuentes, or Steve Bannon, or Donald Trump -- Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth?
There is no "Greatness" with any of them nor any of what they have done.
Hurt, Hurt, Hurt! That is all the Criminal has done. He has destroyed the legacy we had with the White House East Wing -- just as minor transgression in the face of everything else. Hurt the civil service. Hurt people on SNAP. Hurt the communities where National Guard has been deployed, not needed and particularly not wanted. And how is it that ANY American presidency would ever have demonized a mythical organization opposed to Fascism? The easy and careless use of the name "ANTIFA" in the President's rants of accusation is quite telling. He's saying that Fascism is good!
This isn't over. It will end badly if the opposition cannot take back the House in 2026, if the Supremes rule contrary to the dictates of their responsibility as objective Jurists, and the Dems need to take back the Senate. After that, if Trump defies Congress -- say -- in a successful impeachment -- what recourse do we have but for an intervention by the military?
Collect Michelob bottles, gasoline and rags. They may eventually become needed and useful. My view as stated here is beyond compromise. It is a unique moral issue in the matter of Secular Morality. You can only ask how close we are to civil war.
