Lol! ... Trump Promises a $2,000 Tariff Dividend Payout to All Americans: ‘We Are Taking in Trillions of Dollars!’

Is that before or after every American receives their $5,000 DOGE rebate check?

Buy us off .... with our own money. Classic ALT-Reality. TrumpCo knows it well. I already knew Trump was a nationalist, and now he's adding socialism to that, making him a "national socialist"?

He's feeling the heat. At least shows us that Trump understands that most Americans think he’s failing. Trump is promising to pay back $2000 he stole from Americans with his unlawful tariffs. That is like the mugger offering to give back your wallet when they get arrested with only half the money in it. Do Republicans actually believe Trump will give them a tariff rebate? lol!

I'll take "Things that are never going to happen" for $1000, Alex.

But ... We are taking in TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!

Now some good ol redistribution of wealth. Taking money from Americans and giving (a small portion) to other Americans. “But NYC elected a commie!!” lol The same dude is using the federal government to buy ownership stakes in private companies.

Trump's press Barbie said that Trump is running the country like he ran is businesses. Maybe she shouldn't have used that analogy. It looks like the country is headed for another bankruptcy.

"Can I buy your love with your own money?"

So Trump "gives" Americans $2000 from tariff revenue and then loses the tariff case so that the people who paid the tariffs come looking for their money back. Should be fun.

Also, $2K per person comes out to $684 billion. Where is the rest of those "trillions" going?

Also, WTF wanting to send that stuff out and instead actively fighting paying SNAP.

Argentina??

You know to escape to where the other Nazis did with all the goodies after they've done their damage

So... Trump is about to make a new screwup? I don't be surprised if now screws the situation with China and put it on the freezer again.
If congress legislates for tariffs, then there will be tariffs. See, Donnie, there are 3 branches of government. Your job is to execute, not to legislate. Come back for your next lesson.

Trump is literally smashing the current american way of cooking, maybe that would lead that the US will start to cook with in house products and learn how to make dishes like we saw in Tiktok and other social media?

I’m already there😉 learning how to diy cooking and cooking ingredients is fun.

For the first time in my life I went to Costco, purchased a chest freezer, an extra vacuum food sealer, two 6lb. trays of hamburger and 4 boxes of various hamburger helper products in anticipation of Trump's 3(+?) remaining years in office. More bulk purchases of perishables and like-minded preparations to follow. Penny pinching mode now activated for the duration.

Been doing this for years and my god it's such a money saver when you can buy meat in bulk when on sale then seal it up. Meat is the most expensive thing I would buy week to week. Now it's just great deals when they come up.

Even Italians don't make their own pasta all the time. Using dry pasta is very standard. The whole thing is stupid.

I've been spoiling myself with an occasional prime cut ribeye like this beautifully marbled filet pictured below. But now it looks like I'll be drooling over a chuck roast or hobo stew the same way in the very near future. Buh-bye opulence, hello there canned goods. Ribeye reduced.jpg

Well for one thing, they're not "dumping"....regular Italian pasta isn't expensive here because it isn't expensive ANYWHERE! Granted it was some time ago but when I lived in Italy, food was MUCH cheaper than in the states and I doubt it's changed a whole lot since then.

WSJ has an article on this, and I found this part rather interesting (bolding mine):

"The department said it was punishing them because they were “uncooperative” with its investigation, citing problems with their documentation including untranslated Italian words, undefined acronyms and failure to provide requested information. It applied the hefty tariff to all 13 Italian companies based on the assumption that the behavior of La Molisana and Garofalo is representative of the group as a whole.

The outraged Italians say they responded just as in past reviews, and that what has changed is that the Commerce Department has suddenly become stricter.

People with knowledge of the case also say the Commerce Department assigned new analysts to scrutinize the filings who had little understanding of Italian accounting practices, leading the agency to view the companies as noncooperative."

Sounds to me like a typical Trump admin screwup. Assign people to a job they've never done, then blame someone else when they fuck it up. I'm betting the people who actually knew what they were doing got fired (DOGE'd) or took early retirement and now we're left with this.

Pasta is the original poverty food, one of the cheapest foods to manufacture. It has to cost more to ship from Italy than it costs to make. If American companies can't compete with Italian companies in the pasta market, it isn't because of dumping, it is because American companies don't want to deal with the incredibly low profit margins. Hell, pasta has become a staple food in the Sahel because it is so cheap. People who don't have have two cow pies to rub together can afford it.

Seems that Trump is so disconnected from reality that don't want the poor to get cheap food, not even national one.

Wage slaves have no time to cook. Too busy working themselves to death.

It's almost as if Trump isn't qualified for the job he has and doesn't understand how to do it. I've had a few jobs where I worked with people who clearly weren't a good fit, and I always wondered how they even got the job. These jobs were pretty low level, a person struggling to box packages correct is one thing, but a president not having a grasp of the job is scary. I really think Trump believes the shit he's said that as president, he has the power to do anything he damn well pleases.

I was debating how stupid tariffs were today with a MAGA, they initally insisted we weren't paying them. I explained the pizza oven I wanted went from $999 to $1299 because of tariffs. Their response was "well you should buy an American made one anyway" I informed them they don't exist unless you're willing to shell out $4000+. Apparently, the $300 tariff charge on the one I want isn't that bad (according to them) Yet I'm sure this same idiot was losing their shit when eggs went up to $7 when Biden was in office lol. Maybe it's because I'm borderline broke, but $999 to $1299's a pretty damn sizable hike. Especially when so many MAGAs have assured me that China's the one paying for the tariffs.
