The Trump Tariffs thread

I'm kind of expecting the court to agree to the tariffs as long as he ties them to "national security" since as the King of America sorry "unitary executive" he has unlimited powers to protect "national security". I think this is why lately they have been saying all these newer tariffs are because of "national security".
I pretty much doubt they can fire up the Rouge Steel Complex again. If it is even there still.
Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Tariffs
Healthcare Premiums
No SNAP benefits

oh and no inflation!

Am I missing something??
Yea USS is, I am pretty sure, no longer on I94 either. (U S Steel)

Would be good for MI to get those steel factories back. I fear it is too late. (I know)

Not just a piss baby, but constantly undermining any legal arguments to be able to implement these absolutely arbitrary tariffs. Can't wait to see how Alito and Thomas twist themselves into pretzels to ignore blantantly obvious facts.

Over and over again, Trump has asserted the right to impose tariffs on a whim. That makes it harder and harder for his six lapdogs on the Supreme Court to defend his decisions based on any fragment of legal authority. Will they stick with the "National Security" canard ruling when Trump continually imposes tariffs because his fee fee's are hurt. His minions among the six SCOTUS conservatives are going to hell and back in order to find some excuse to declare that he's operating within the scope of any statutory power. And he keeps on undercutting them by claiming that he has absolute authority to impose tariffs based on nothing more than whims.

He decided to impose additional tariffs on Brazil, because his pal and fellow insurrectionist Bolsonaro was subject to process of law.

He decided to impose additional tariffs on India because India was buying Russian oil (without mentioning all the other purchasers of Russian petrochemicals).

Now he's added 10% to Canada because his fragile ego was offended by an ad. When all he is doing is creating an embargo and it will isolate the United States.

SCOTUS conservatives denying the facts that are flying in their faces? Trump announces higher tariff rates on key ally over latest "hostile act". Hostile act my ass. It was a fucking ad!

Anyone who has ever known/lived with a narcissist knows they ALWAYS destroy their friendships and alliances. ALWAYS! This idiot needs to be locked away in a mental institution.

He also never got over this:

Look the Presidents fee fees are simply a national security issue.

Along with his fee fee's being the "hostile act"

This wasn't an ad by the Government of Canada it was an ad released by the Province of Ontario. There is nothing "fraudulent" about the ad. It uses President Reagan's own words. All Trump's theatrics have done is amplify the ad ensuring millions of Americans see it.

Trump has been insulting and degrading Canada his term to date. "Beat those Commies up North" is what he posts before the baseball game? Really? That is an American president? More like a 2 year old
toddler.

No wonder his parents hated him.

Get the fuck out of here with that "I'm also a farmer" bit. (Nevermind that "being a farmer" today is nothing like "being a farmer" circa 1920; the latter of which is what lots of people seem to think of when they hear farmer, and not big businessman with large land holdings.)

From his Wiki:
Bessent graduated from Yale College in 1984. In 1991, he was hired by Soros Fund Management, eventually becoming the head of its London office. In this role, in September 1992, he was a leading member of the group that profited by $1 billion on Black Wednesday, the British Pound sterling crisis. He made another $1.2 billion profit for SFM in 2013 betting against the Japanese yen. After he left the Soros Fund in 2015, he established Key Square Group, a hedge fund.

So now the Reagan Foundation is shilling for Dear Leader. Saint Ronnie is rolling in his grave. He would be called a RINO today and Jesus wouldn't be let into the Country today!

The Reagan Foundation said that they created an ad campaign using selective audio and video of President Ronald Reagan. The ad misrepresents the Presidential Radio Address,' and 'did not seek nor receive permission to use and edit the remarks.

Nothing in the ad was out of context. Second, you don't need permission to air public comments. The Reagan Foundation does not own the public domain video of Reagan's presidential address. No one needs their permission for anything. There were no restrictions on the access to, or use of the speech. It's right there on the YouTube page. Reagan's radio broadcast is very clear, tariffs are a disaster, which is what Trump himself doesn't want to hear along with his flock of sheep.

Lashing out and screaming “You made me do this” is his entire shtick.

Lol!, so multimillionaire Bessent "feels your pain"? Harvesting crops in a suit must be painful. A landlord who gets paid regardless of whether his tenants can survive or not. An absentee landlord, not a farmer. Wasn't he just a used car salesman last week? Why hasn’t the invisible hand of the free market saved American farmers? Bessant is also largely responsible for all of this. No doubt that he will be buying up bankrupt farmer properties.

Just another liquidator billionaire.

The plan is... there is no plan.

“It’s really striking to me that, not only are they not even discussing it, we’re discussing one issue at a time,” Mr. Czin said. “We’re talking about TikTok, or about soybeans, these kind of sectoral or even firm-specific issues, rather than talking about the big, meaty, substantive issue that may have been at the heart of this at the outset.”

Shitlol

They ate your face… your cattle are just the dessert!

“Gajdzik points out, this move would be just the latest in a series of actions through Trump’s presidency that have negatively impacted the farming industry. Pork and soybean farmers suffered from declines in international sales during Trump’s first term, largely caused by retaliatory tariffs and boycotts from China. It’s an uphill battle they’re facing once again in Trump’s second term, as a byproduct of an escalating trade war. Farmers also suffered over tariffs placed on Canada, which dramatically increased the cost of potash, a widely-used fertilizer in the agriculture industry.

“A lot of rural America, here in Kentucky, a lot of the farmers, you know they supported Trump in all of his elections. It’s disappointing to see how he has handled these situations,” Gajdzik said. “It’s kind of a gut punch, or a slap in the face almost that he’s doing this to us. I don’t think we foresaw him treating the agriculture community this way.”

When forced to choose between their wallets or their bigotry, they'll choose their bigotry each and every time. Don't take my word for it, just ask one of them. They got this the last time he was President and they lined up and voted for him again. I'm glad they're getting exactly what they voted for. Democracy in action.
