so where can a US consumer realistically buy Argentine beef? I had some at a restaurant overseas before and it's was damn good. not sure if it was because of the prep or because it was from argentina, but willing to try some in my home kitchen.
I've sat in restaurants in Buenos Aires and had the best beef they offered and to be honest it's not any better than the local farmer sells me when I by 1/4 of a corn fed heifer at a time. Perhaps because I don't eat the crap they sell in stores unless I'm using it for tacos or sloppy Joes?

In summary this is where we are at: Trump raises tariffs to 155%, further fucking over the American farmer normally selling soybeans to China as China is buying exactly none. Argentina sells them their soybeans instead. In the meantime we bail out Argentina with an at least 20 billion currency exchange, they turn around and sell more soybeans to China in our place. To complete the screwing over of the American farmer, Trump wants to buy more Argentinian beef which may or may not contain additional nutrients such as screw worms.

Mysterious wealthy benefactors may have the opportunity to buy distressed ranches, thus saving the US beef industry as the tariffs are lifted (I mean, presuming the appropriate bribes have been paid).

waited all night just to say fuck the orange piece of shit. Apparently Reagan's words made him throw a tantrum. Called off trade talks with Canada. Doug Ford ran a commercial and that was all it took...

Really crashing out this morning. He must be worried the court is going to go against him.

If I were the Canadians I'd slap a modest-ish export duty on energy to the US then not pick up the phone when the moron calls to rage. He's justified tariffs on Canada like a half dozen different ways and this isn't somebody you can make a deal with. Reorienting trade with other economies is really the only option now.

I'm kind of expecting the court to agree to the tariffs as long as he ties them to "national security" since as the King of America sorry "unitary executive" he has unlimited powers to protect "national security". I think this is why lately they have been saying all these newer tariffs are because of "national security".

They stopped him from firing Fed governors so if there is any other spot they might thwart him it's fucking with the money.

I hope so, if they don't though I think it will be on the national security angle.
That might be the angle they track towards, but it defies all logic and credibility given the record that has been built up. They can try to pretzel their way through, but SCOTUS credibility is already in the shitter.

Makes now think... considering that Trump ended the negotiations with Canada with that, what happens if with China happens the same and China press the "red button"? Said button is the refined Rare Earths exports.

Well the 150% or whatever tariffs go into effect on the 1st unless he TACOs again (quite possible). Xi's got him over a barrel with the export controls and they've found new markets to support Chinese exports. Trump has a losing hand.

Have you thought that China might actually not want to ship to the US to make a point??

Also China knows from his first term they can give him some meaningless commitment and he will declare victory and move on. He is so easily played at this point.
Trump's dementia is worse now though. He gets a fake concession, claims a victory, and then forgets about, starting the stupid tariff process over again.

The whole premise here is that China must ship us the usual amount of exports to remain financially and politically stable, thus caving to whatever Trump wants. This idea has been proven beyond a shadow of doubt to be incorrect. As far as they're concerned he can set the tariffs at 5% or 500% and it doesn't matter to them.

From their perspective it ceases to be productive to engage because two weeks later he shitcans whatever was agreed upon because he is a dummy. The juice is not remotely worth the squeeze.

I remember we were on a road trip and stopped at a truck stop for lunch. I ordered NY Steak and the damn thing was bigger than the plate, butterflied and each side is 3" thick. The fried came on a second plate.

And don't forget something: the team in his first term was way better and more capable than the current one. If China can exploit this, USA would be on real trouble.

I imagine a Black Friday o Xmas campaign ending into a failure because of the situation.
