How crazy is this? How can people that don't understand sales tax be in charge of the US economy?

Any civilized society would have Navarro and Lutnick involuntarily committed to a secure mental health facility where they can receive appropriate care.

Trump doesn't appoint on merit. He appoints on Loyalty to Trump.

The USA has a brain-worm addled, anti-vaxxer in as Secretary of Health and Human Services, FFS.

This is the problem with Authoritarian governments. Absolutely unqualified idiots (or worse) end up in power, by showing they are absolutely loyal to the king.

They are calling it the stupidest trade negotiating position in history. They are saying it very strongly.

Nevermind that the president can't really solidify trade deals because he doesn't have that power under the Constitution. That's really on Congress. The whole thing is a giant, illogical, stupid, and quite illegal clusterfuck.

Well the BBB has killed the mental health facilities so they will now just wonder streets homeless and holding signs that tariffs are needed to MAGA

It's amazing to see Trump's spokespeople say that tariffs won't raise prices and be inflationary and yet somehow also bring industries back to the US. Like, it can't do both of those things at the same time. If it doesn't raise costs, then it can't incentive on-shoring.

Probably false. Can't really find anything about this other than Instagram/Facebook posts but I did find this:

Basically, a large blueberry farm in NJ is willing to donate a large portion of its crop to a local food bank, but the food bank needs volunteers to help with the harvest. We're talking 20,000 lbs so it's a lot. The advertisements for help with the harvest got picked up and twisted around on social media, next thing you know "Nurses are being asked to harvest crops"

A New Jersey farm has been faced with a case of "no good deed goes unpunished" as its donation of organic fruit has been twisted into a viral misinformation post on social media.

After Trumps 50% tariff on steel, Canada decides not to export it to the US. And to redirect its steel production into its own industries. Detroit automakers are reeling.

I'd prefer to stick to real news sources. That's basically just more AI slop.

The steel situation in Canada is not that rosy, nor does the impact to USA seem that dire.

Yeah I'd stay clear of clickbait youtube channels.. there was one yesterday about Trump having Powell arrested because he wouldn't raise interest rates..

I'm all for destroying MAGA, sending them all to face FPV drones in Ukraine but lets at least stick with facts on economics and vaccines.

I mean that's how we got into this trouble.

But... But that's the entire point of tariffs. That's why you do them!
Of course most sane leaders try to figure out a different source of a product they really need before tariffing it but Trumps going to Trump!

Indeed.
Although... it may be that, in order to whip up the frenzy needed to stop MAGA....
We may need to fight fire with fire. To use the tools and weapons of our enemy.

I appreciate it can be difficult, if not impossible, to come back from that. After instilling a fervor into people. But that may be our only option to stay in the fight. If we must choose between losing this war or becoming savages.... not a simple choice to just say no to AI slop.

Quoted for posterity. You're going on ignore soon enough, bur not before being publicly exposed and embarrassed.

For posterity; I'm not embarrassed, are you? Love watching my investments grow. I want the USA to succeed, your hate for Trump has you hopping America fails but you aren't getting your wish. Winning still isn't getting old.

you should be embarrassed, you said this...

"And in a few weeks, after 100 plus countries agree to fair reciprocal trade, will you come back here and admit how wrong you were?"

there haven't even been 10 countries that have made trade deals with the US and it's been a couple of months, not just weeks.

just because i hate trump doesn't mean i hope the US fails, that's just plain stupid. FYI, i have made a killing in the markets this year by hedging against trump and his stupid tariff wars.

you got pwned and i have the receipts.

It doesn't matter how many times you have been wrong does it? You will keep being wrong and are so programmed, facts, numbers and positive results will never open eyes that will not see. Tell me again what is going to happen so I can evaluate your prediction. I'll check back in a month or so and when things are even better, yet you will have the same delusions. Raging against fair and reciprocal tariffs is also delusional. Japan was a nice win wasn't it. We finally have a President doing the right thing after all his predecessors talked the talk but did the opposite.

you were wrong, dumbass...

again, you stated...

"And in a few weeks, after 100 plus countries agree to fair reciprocal trade, will you come back here and admit how wrong you were?"

it's there for everyone to see and you not only can't admit you were wrong, but that i was 100% correct.

you have in fact been publicly exposed and embarrassed, congrats.

Any reason you can't just admit to being wrong? Is it because you're programmed?

Don't know if this came up before in this thread, but on the BBC Americast podcast someone made the point that Trump's tariff increases on Brazil being explicitly tied to the conviction of Bolsonaro (who says there's no honor among thieves?) makes it very very hard to justify the tariffs being based on those Presidential 'economic emergency' powers.

In what possible way is Brazil trying its former President for corruption an 'economic emergency' for the US? But that's the basis for Trump being able to unilaterally impose tariffs, no?
