holy fuck this is one of the dumbest things in the universe. essential for all forms of manufacturing and construction.
Trump only cares about making the price go up.
And Republicans are too god damn stupid to throw him out before it really guts them.

Isn't that right @Greenman you want higher prices on everything?

To wealthy Americans in the form of Tax breaks...

Tax the poor, and reward the Rich...

Yea. Kind of figured that. Was hoping to know if Bassett or etc was asked that question directly and what their answer was … I know it will be a direct one. But atleast it is a response

Trump needs to stop dicking around with these Tariffs and start laying them down thick.

His whole "Little girls will only have 2 dolls instead of 10" moistened my panties a fair bit.

If Trump can break the back of American consumerism that has been floating the global economy for the last 80 years, my hat will be off to him.

His heart doesn't seem to be in it though.

If that was his goal, he should simply do as EU. Sales tax on everything between 20-25% (except food items) and impose strict consumer protection and environmental protection. Then your trade balance would also be far better and no trade war would be needed..... But here we are.

Trump is trying to get Bolsonaro off the hook by hitting Brazil with a 50% tariff. Also what a humiliating document for future historians to peruse. I look forward to Brazil opening factories to make coffee in the United States too.

When you set yet another tariff deadline with countries that really don't matter and you've got virtually nothing to show for all that hard work of sending out embarrassing form letters to let them know how much THEY ARE PAYING in tariffs that is going absolutely nowhere, what do you do? Of course, distract and once again our wonderful free press bites at the bait.

Oh by the way, those countries don't pay the tariff, the importer in America does, and guess what, they just pass that on to us.

Lula declared Brazil's intention to retaliate against the tariffs by matching the US rate. Presumably the WH will issue notice that Brazil tariffs are now 100% soonish. Which functionally doesn't matter since at 50% trade is already dunzo.

Also, the Trump administration continually undercutting their court cases on the tariffs by constantly talking about political justifications (and not "emergency") reasons for them. (though, that'll never stop the current Supreme Court from letting him do what he wants because they like having a mad king)

For the lower courts sure, I'm nearly certain Roberts would find some way to either make what he's doing legit or take so long to address it that the case becomes moot.

SCOTUS seems pretty happy aiding and abetting a criminal executive.

I didn't see this posted anywhere..

President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to impose up to 200% tariffs on pharmaceuticals imported into the U.S. “very soon.”

“They’re going to be tariffs at very high rate, like 200%,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting.

Look to afford her medications grandma is just going to have to take some more hours at the great patriotic toaster factory and that's all there is to it.

Basically Brazil started an embargo. Makes me wonder if the rest of BRICS will start to follow that movement until Trump attempts a TACO and fails.

He is damn crazy, the US medicines are expensive and with that, the medicine will be scarce and will allow to the scammers to sell "miraculous medicines" at that price.

Trump tariffing at 50% is effectively an embargo so it's his fault. To do so over Bolsonaro getting sent to trial then likely prison adds insult to injury for the Brazilians. Lula is likely to play this thing up to the hilt because his support has slipped domestically and this could reinvigorate it. The country's largest trade partner is China anyway and their ties have only grown deeper over the Trump years.
