Thanks guys. 🙂
As long as the crown is the same size it should work just fine. Getting them OFF on the other hand can sometimes be a major bitch! The fork manufactures don't seem to put much thought into REMOVING the damn things...
thanks...
😀 ...this is my first time trying this out and im quite uncomfortable tapping it out with a screwdriver and a hammer and not ding the steerer...
🙁
my LBS wants $40 to install a fork...
😕 but all i need is to get the crown off and install a star nut on the new one...
🙁 i dont have the tool to that one either. *sigh*
The crown race is a major pain to remove. There is a bigass expensive tool to do this
🙁 . Just take a somewhat small junk screwdriver and a rubber hammer. Go easy with light taps all the way around. You will win. It took me 45 mins once. :Q
Installing the star nut without a proper tool is a challenge too. It can be done but it's a major PITA.
My LBS (Supergo) installs a crown race + nut for $15 - $20 (or sometimes for free) depending on who does it.
