The saddest movie you've ever seen is...?

Schindler's List clearly gets an honorable mention and while I hate to thrown anything out there with Travolta in it Phenomenon hit me really hard.
 
I am Sam... I don't remember much from the movie as I saw it 10 years ago, but very clearly remember not ever crying so much during a movie...

Those two are actually both my candidates.

Titanic not because Leo died or anything whatsoever related with the romance or the dummies flying around to their death, but because of the scenes about the people who got locked inside and had to die, simply because they're considered 'lower class'. They were denied a chance to save their lives because they're poor. It's just brutal.

Forrest Gump because of the very first scenes with Forrest sitting on the porch while his mom had sex with the principal(?) so he would accept Forrest to his school. As I recall she made some 'funny' noises and people in the theater laughed (including my date at the time). I did not find this funny at all because of the context and was very disturbed watching that scene.

I watched these two movies exactly one time in my life. These two scenes bothered me so much I did not want to watch them anymore after the first time.

Anyway, I still haven't decided on the saddest movie I've ever seen. As you can see from above I got emotional very easily when watching a movie, so I got to think about it some more. There are are many other candidates out there 🙂

Just finished watching it with the g/f (my 4th time watching it, her first), we had to stop like 3-4 times through the 40 minute episode because she was sobbing.

I though I was the only one that got emotional with B5.

For tv though I would hand it to Scrubs, the episode where they go to the brother's wedding. Shocking sadness is the most effective.

For movie it would be Seven Pounds hands down.

when that alien has to blow himself up just to keep those asshole marines from trying to kill him ... so fucking sad. i mean, he was stuck on the planet and just trying to live his life, but noooooo ...

I know you are making a joke, but he wasn't "stuck." He came there specifically to hunt for sport and was dropped off.

saddest movie ive seen? good question.....i am not a bitch so I don't watch sad movies. lost in translation was probably the closest thing to a sad ending I can honestly remember.

Cowboy Bebop had a sad ending, only because it was only 24 episodes long =[

Um ... Cowboy Bebop was 26 episodes long and yes the ending was indeed sad.

Spielberg's "Empire of the Sun" starring a pre-teen Christian Bale was pretty good. Moved me at a few places, like when Jim realizes that he no longer remembers what his parents look like and
the point where they finally reunite
. There were many other sad moments (
the death of his Japanese soul mate
, Basie being beaten after Jim leads them to his home, the lost/stolen potato after Jim gets boiling water thrown in his face, etc)
