Haven’t seen a thread on this yet—but apparently the guy who leaked all the intel is just a bored, 20-something racist conservative gun nutter who works on a “military base” and now hates the government because of blacks, Jews, liberals or something…who knows.

He isn’t even a whistleblower or some wannabe Russkie agent—he’s just a useful idiot showing off to young gamers on a Discord server who didn’t understand what he was posting.

MAGATs aren’t making America great—they’re doing everything they can to destroy it.

Paywall buster link:

Just another pathetic incel who is an early 20s leader of a bunch of young teen gamers in a discord chat who they called "OG."

No surprise he's rabidly racist and antisemitic either.

He did it NOT for any real ideology, NOT to be a whistleblower, but for attention and to be admired by a bunch of young teen boys.

Why was some guy on just a military base able to access these documents? I would think they would be Pentagon only. I guess his background check wasn't thorough enough to see crazy side.

Considering what they did to Chelsea Manning, who was trying to report on "potential human rights abuses", this guy should get a life sentence.

From what I read, they have not yet identified the leaker. Is that right?

Apparently some brilliant young minds decided that intelligence agencies needed their own internal version of Wikipedia where ALL the intel is always available all the time. Because Boomer egos in these alphabet soup agencies refused to share intel before and bad preventable things happened. Of course, there are supposed to be protections and access controls and print watermarks etc. but this shit still happens.

Just in case you haven’t noticed, the standards to be in the military are quite low.

A long time ago I used to attend training seminars with a guy who seemed to be pretty relaxed and level headed. Then one day somebody got him started and he went off with the most obnoxious horse shit rant about politics I've ever heard in real life. (internet rants are obviously much worse). He claimed to be working for a high level government office and that Nancy Pelosi had committed all kinds of security breaches and treason and such but he said he could not produce evidence and show it to us and also with his time at the seminars theres no way he could be working a regular job but less a high level government job where he had access to all sorts of important information like that. And he never pressed charges on what he claimed was rock solid evidence.
Eventually I learned he was a bigoted right wing nut job but it made me sad. If he wasn't talking politics he was very cool. Stopped attending seminars where he had a chance of showing up. Waste of my time and money and everyone else. And if you want right wing conspiracy horse shit you can get it for free on the internet.

One of the dumbasses in the article thinks the public should see these documents because they need to know that tax dollars are being spent spying on allies. These are deeply stupid people 😂 Hope the OG idiot enjoys his long stay in federal prison.
Being surprised our government is spying on every other country, including allies is like being shocked that people gamble in casinos.

Every country is trying to spy on every other country because they want to know where the headwinds are and keep their finger on the pulse. You'll only see acts of contrition and outrage over it because it needs to be done as part of the public theater.

Dude sounds like a groomer of Terror cells. Some kind of Fundamentalist Anti-Government type trying to lead a bunch of kids toward some goal.

Simply joining a branch doesn't suddenly give you access to secret Pentagon documents though, is the point I think he was making. I'm not sure how this kid had access, much less was able to leave with any of it.

You ask a good question. The answer is that unfortunately they give too many people access.

The number of employees and contractors in the entire US government with top secret clearance is about 1.25 million.

That's a rather shocking number.

Weird unless there’s an official arrest warrant and nationwide manhunt, surprised they even released a name. Sure announce where they believe he’s stationed

And this is what I find fascinating about the maga movement. Completely brainwashed when it comes to politics but if politics is never brought up then they are your average American. It’s like a trigger or something.

Firstly Clearance doesn't equal Access. Need to know is a primary factor.

That being said 1.2 million is a lot. They need much better background checks obviously. Also need to have more accountability for crap such as this. This dickweed was a member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

Maximum penalty!
