Yeah but streaming your own gameplay? Unless you're some uber ranked player...who's gonna watch? I don't mean any disrespect, I'm being serious. Maybe you'll have a couple people check you out but I suspect it'll only be big for live events and as I said, between friends.

You think that, but there are constantly a bunch of people streaming games that don't even have a professional community. Diablo 3? Dark Souls? A lot of it isn't just about watching the game play, but interacting with the streamers while playing with them.

Yeah they may stream but how does some random nobody get people watching unless they are already known? That's what I'm wondering here...say you stream some game you're playing. What are the chances you'll actually have people watch it? I don't mean someone who just happens to click on it to see what's going on, I mean actually have a group. Doesn't seem like it'll happen that often.

Word of mouth and by streaming more often I suppose. Someone who is interested in a game is going to open up the stream for that game and pick one. If you have a catchy title, people will check it out. They will come back if you're worth watching.

I see...well ok, i guess if you are interesting. Not unlike the people on youtube who are basically playing games and jokingly reviewing them and being a generally funny person. Keeps people coming back.

I just really don't see anyone beyond my friend list caring what I'm doing the same as I don't care what they do most of the time heh. Live events, tourneys, stuff like that maybe. What I'd really like to start seeing is developers leveraging the streaming to invite people to check out some gameplay of a new title and comment on it. That's something that can become very useful to the gaming industry.

I've always wondered the same thing. I normally don't talk when I'm playing a game and streaming would require me to do that if I want to interact with the community. I don't have a laptop handy either to pause and read comments.

But I do use the streams for information. I tell my friends about them if there is a game I've watched and they check it out. I'll ask questions to the person streaming and get opinions as well as real footage which is nice. I would never stream bf4 or cod since I suck anyway.

It will toast your Live friends when you start broadcasting, so that's a start. How you get more viewers after that... hell if I know.

Streaming is getting bigger and bigger. I personally don't use it but it definitely is getting a bigger community.

Kind of like on the PS4 where it shows that you started broadcasting in the What's new tab.

One thing the twitch app does on consoles is bring up the chat window on your TV while you play so you have realtime chat(optional) and you could even broadcast voice if you have a headset plugged in. It can also post a comment and a link to your twitter feed and facebook page.

So there is that. The only downside is when you have it show the chat box it will play the game in a window there.

What settings in the One menu and my receiver would you all recommend? All I have hooked to my tv is my One. Going into the hdmi in on my One is a jailbroke Apple TV 2 and a Chromecast hooked up to an hdmi switch. My One is going hdmi into my Samsung plasma and I have an optical cable going from my tv to the front V-Aux optical input on my Yamaha receiver.

So, TF and Forza free? Gimme one more free game, like Destiny, and I'm in.

Hehe Microsoft is not this generous. I've never seen a console sell with more than one game as a bundle. Unless you were buying at Sam's club or another retailer where they had this type of deal.

Does your receiver have HDMI and if not, are you getting surround via optical from your TV? Ideally..IMO anyway you should do optical from your XB1 to your receiver directly if you cannot do HDMI.

Is there something not working with this setup to start with?

Free games are great and all but at this rate, I am waiting for the price drop and I am sure there will be one. This is no doubt a reaction to Sony already having a 50% lead in systems sold. First party games cost them little to pack in so they will try this strategy first.

Keep waiting...free game that is $60 and brand new is a pretty damn good deal. They aren't asking you to pay $30 more for the console to get the bundle, they just give it away.

My receiver doesnt have hdmi. I just hooked the optical from my Xbox directly to the receiver on the tv/sat optical input. I noticed that when I have it in 7.1 stereo setting the center channel is active but when I select dts when I tested using netflix only my fronts were doing dialog

And both Titanfall and Forza are great games... It's not like they are giving out Fighter Within.

MS should sell a cheaper kinectless XB1. Why? b/c, I don't need kinect in every room in my house, and it would serve those that have 0 interest in Kinect. Maybe not right now, but sometime in the near future.

I'm only interested in broadcasting over Twitch so that my buddy can see what Titanfall looks like while we're on the phone and I'm playing live. He only has a PS4.

I don't think they ever will sell without Kinect, but that doesn't mean they won't lower the price. They are convinced that Kinect is a peripheral that has an enormous amount of potential in gaming, well beyond the lame "motion games" that we've seen before. And if it does not have a 100% attach rate to the One, developers won't embrace it.

I don't understand Twitch, whatsoever. I get that people watch it, but I just don't understand the appeal. If your friend is curious to see what Titanfall looks like, there are currently a gazillion videos to watch now.

This. MS is married with the Kinect. And considering 1/3 of their 360 consoles has a Kinect attached to it (25 million Kinect 1 were sold), it isn't a bad idea.

The same could be said for anything, such as Jersey Shore or American Idol. People are entertained in unique ways. It also helps that you can ask specific questions that aren't answered in Youtube videos and get an immediate answer.

If you are into competitive gaming, twitch is awesome. It's just like watching any sport that interests you.
