I've had mine for several years so I'm sure the link is to a much newer revision, but I love mine. It's running tomato and is lightening quick. No problems.

I'm going to buy a new router today. I tried running ddwrt on my linksys e1200 and it gave me worse speeds. Updated to latest stock firmware and it's better but ps4 speeds are still crappy. Man I wish I could run a wire through this apartment.

Or had is face gnawed off by a chimpanzee, did you ever think of that? That kind of stuff will put you off the forums for a while. I had some bowl problems that caused me sudden absence of here before too.

There is a setting under "Power Management" called something like "Allow Internet Connection" to allow downloads in Standby mode...

Right, I knew I could buy stuff on PSN through a PC (did it with BF Premium) and have it download, but didn't realize that I could be downloading a game directly from the PS4, put it in standby and it would continue to download the game.

Pretty sure I've made up my mind and am just gonna return this sucker. I can't see any games coming out that I want to play until infamous. And even then I can still wait.

Did you get it from amazon? Are they just going to easily take it back? I'm so tired of messing with the network issue.

They have in the past. I'm gonna mention the wireless thing and see what they say. As for padding, not that it really matters, but there was one (literally one square) air bag thing at the top and that was it. Almost comical haha. I'll try and wait to get it after there's a hardware revision and I can pick up some cheap games.

Mine is waiting for an Xmas open. In the meantime this week I picked up a ps3 to play last of us, but I have also been looking around on psn and frankly it is making me forget about that ps4. I won't take it back but I feel bad how little it is on my mind right now, probably because there is so little to play on it!

That's pretty cool, work with any universal remote? Though I already have a PS3 remote but holding off on the PS4 until after Xmas at least.

Yes, as long as the remote works with your TV, it should issue a command to the PS4.

Basically when I turn on the PS4 it turns on my TV and switches to the input my PS4 is plugged into. Once past the user choice I can move around and open Amazon with my TV remote and play, pause and exit with the TV remote also. No need for any Bluetooth adapters like the PS3 had.

The PS3 had HDMI-CEC as well. Although, I don't know if it accepted any commands! I used it quite often for turning everything on when I turned my PS3 on. The nice thing is that even tossing a movie in the PS3 would turn everything on!

AC looks awesome. I played a couple minutes of it. Then it needed an update and it took forever to download so I'm trying to either get a better router or mess some more with the settings. I've gotten it up to 5mb download rate on the ps4 connection test.

If you want the best, get a Nighthawk. It's expensive though but it's great. My brother has ones and he lives in an apartment and gets great connection still. I'm thinking of picking it up since I'm moving into an apartment next month.

NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router (R7000)

Price $199.99

That's what I bought, and it works fairly well. The one nice thing is that unlike my older routers, it doesn't reboot whenever you change any little setting. I think there was only a single setting (I think the router password) that required a full router reboot, which was pretty quick compared to most things. Its range doesn't seem to be much better than my WNDR3700, but I'm just basing that on the walk down to the mail area in my apartment complex as I normally lose my WiFi connection when I'm fairly close to it. I do stay connected, but the connection is pretty much a dud as it doesn't actually work.

You should keep in mind that it is really big compared to most routers that I've dealt with. It also doesn't have a vertical stand like the WNDR3700. Here's a photo with my WNDR3700 on top of the Nighthawk and here's one with a post-it note on top of it.

I just picked up a netgear n600. Going to compare it to my linksys e1200 and see if it's any better. If not best buy gives you 14 days to return it and no restocking fee so I hope it's better. I'm only 9 feet away from the router I have now so dual band should help. Depends on what frequency the ps4 picks it up.

I have an Apple Airport Extreme and it's working perfectly with both the PS4, and PS3.

I guess if you have a lot of wireless devices one of these expensive routers is required. The only other wireless device in my apartment is my droid dna, besides the ps4.

Sometimes it's not just your wireless devices, but there's also an issue with other wireless traffic. That's the biggest reason why people are pushing away from the 2.4GHz band, because it wasn't only heavily used by WiFi devices, but also cordless phones and microwaves.

Although, I believe you expressed that your PS3 worked fine and it's also using 2.4GHz. I live in an apartment, and I've actually hooked mine up via Ethernet. It usually amuses people, because I have a 100 foot cable running from my upstairs computer room all the way down the stairs and wrapping around to go to the living room's switch.

Anyway, that makes me wonder if there's just something wrong with your PS4's wireless setup? It makes me wonder what would happen if I disconnected an antenna from my laptop's WiFi mini-PCIe card; would I experience similar poor connectivity like you do? Could your problems be something like that? I think that's one of the advantages that Microsoft has in their build -- they used a lot of standard parts, which should make them easier to replace. Although, I think they both built in the wireless to the motherboard. I kind of wish they didn't, so then you could just pop out the lame 2.4GHz card and put in a nice 5GHz one. :p

I've located channel 11 with the least amount of users so I'm using that now. I'm hoping the dual band router I just got helps with the range. Seems in g only mode I get better speeds than N mode even though both my phone and ps4 support N infrastructure. I've also forwarded all the possible ports in my old router.

So a speed test with my old router on the phone, gets 19mb down in the bedroom where the router is located. It gets around 14 in the living room where the ps4 is. But the PlayStation only gets around 3-4 randomly in each speed test.

They should have used an ac card in the ps4 for sure. What does the Xbox one use? Sony is telling me to contact my isp and have them trouble shoot the issues. It must be hell trying to get a diagnosis of a bum network card for a replacement ps4. If best buy would have had them in stock I would have asked for an exchange.
