why is a ps4 the best option?

More games to play, better exclusives, also more people have consoles than gaming PC's so you're more likely be able to play with your friends. I don't personally know anyone that games on their PC, I personally know tons of people that play games on consoles.

If you are solely playing BF4 having more players is a wash IMO cause BF on PC is pretty huge.

Yeah most of my friends can't afford a good custom built pc so they buy consoles. I do both routes so I can also play exclusives.

More games, no worrying about memory limit on GPU, no need to worry about games not running correctly.

I do have sli 670s but I purchased these when they released. I would not recommend anyone go with 2GB cards now. There is no issue with 2GB now at normal single monitor resolutions but some games do hit the limit at certain settings. You would be better served IMO to wait it out for 20nm cards if you are not going to be buying high end (780 or 290).

so hold my 670 till next year then try to sell it?

So I'm choosing my three PS4 games for the buy two get one free, BF4, Assassin's Creed 4, and Killzone.

CoD is just more of the same so I'm skipping that and Knack just didn't look like something I had to have. Killzone really does look great and I've loved every Battlefield game, plus the open world nature and naval battles look really cool on AC4. I wanted a racing game but Need for Speed can wait until later.

Do we know if the prime two day shipping will apply to this amazon promotion? CS from amazon sent me an email telling me about that link too. Seeing how target only had one ps4 game in stock today I'm probably better off going with amazon.

I could swing over there on Tuesday see what they have around lunch time but then supply at amazon may be sold out.

Edit : the link says cod ghosts will be sold at regular price? Aren't they all 59.99 so if you select cod you can't get one game free ?

It looks like you get a far better deal if you pre-ordered a game already. My copy of Knack already shipped out, and I originally thought that would screw me over. However, I received an e-mail from Amazon giving me a special code to buy one and get one free. The list of games is also longer and the promotional period lasts until 11/16. So, no four hour crap!

Not bad.

EDIT:

Thank you for pre-ordering a PS4 game. You have qualified for a special Buy One, Get One promotion on select PS4 titles.

Add two of the qualifying items to your cart and at checkout apply your individual claim code: [REMOVED].

Your savings will be displayed in your Order Summary. Offer is valid through November 16, 2013.

Yea I didn't pre order anything on amazon. Also did not know about this until people stated they were getting these emails.

I guess it's different crowds. I have a large circle of console gaming friends, but they're not playing the kind of stuff I want to play. I have an even larger circle of PC gaming friends. In BF4 alone I have something like 90 people, including a half dozen or so from AT, about a dozen or so local close friends and family, and then scores of online people I met from BF3 onward.

With PS4 I might do Drive Club or something like that, but Madden/etc I could care less really. Not my cup of tea, though I can understand why many like it. The beauty of it is I don't *need* PSN to play SP games, which will be 99% of the reason I want a PS4 anyway. Story-driven exclusives, racing, sports, just stuff for me and some friends on a couch. And I can double it as a top-notch BD player and Netflix streamer as well with no PSN, for when I don't feel like switching over to the HTPC.

I gotta say though, I have a PS3, and hopefully an SSD upgrade makes the PS4 responsive. I don't use the PS3 for any media functions, hell it's now sitting on the retro shelf now mainly because it's too slow for good media use. PS4 has modern SATA support though, so it should be snappy.

You know the #1 thing I think people don't realize that will make PS4 awesome? The integrated touchpad. Instant mouse cursor that you can use for browsing, selecting, moving from scene to scene precisely, etc. A regular controller, and even a regular remote control can't replicate the awesomeness of being able to move and click. Fast forward is so last century when you can just instantly go where you want instead of FF, FF2X, FF4X, FF8X, Next Chapter, etc.

I hope you are right. I think the touchpad will rock or suck--do you have any good links demoing it? I can certainly see some potential in it.

I didn't know much about the touchpad but in killzone it will be used to select and give commands to squad mates. As well as selecting items from inventory maybe. The controller speaker will also play player diaries.

Can the vita serve as a second controller for the ps4? Will the ds4 costing $60 and the vita only $180, if it can be a second controller (not talking about remote play), it might be a reasonable excuse to buy one.

In gaming I've got no idea honestly. It could be similar to the WiiU touch/tablet thing. Sort of lost for a purpose.

For media functionality and system browsing/menu browsing, it should be great. Everybody can finally make a pretty decent touchpad these days. Hah, I remember when that wasn't the case though.

I'm placing my guess based on current Sony laptops, and those touchpads are fine. Not quite MBA/MBP quality, but definitely good enough.

For some games it can do remote play or act as a second screen. Nothing about using it as a controller directly.

It will work for streaming games to it so you can play them. It won't necessarily be a second controller but any game that's compatible will be able to be played on the vita via remote play.
