I'm just going by Amazon:

So I assume not at launch? I'm not really sure though.

KT

that is just their date place holder. It might be a launch title. Wiki says it is launching NA on the 15th and EU on the 29th. Japan is slated for Feb.

I am not sure what games I will get. FIFA is dependent on which consoles my friends get. I am already getting both, so it just ends up which I prefer.

Ok, sounds good. Amazon has real dates for a bunch of them (FIFA, COD, etc) so I assumed they just did not have an official release date for Knack yet.

I received a message from my GS telling me I can come pick up my copy of Killzone and Knack today.

yeah they had pics of knack surfacing yesterday online showing it has like a 39gb install size or so. i figured they are already out in the wild. that is such a tease that you can have the games and controllers but no console!

Ok, sounds good. Well I just pre-ordered Knack and it shows a deliver date of January 7th, but I got $0.99 off, so I'm cool. :D

Stupid question, I assume my launch edition PS4 comes with one wireless DS4 controller? The pictures shows it I think, but the order details do not explicitly state whether it is included or not.

What makes you think consoles don't get releases early either? >_>

Picked up my battlefield 4 from GameStop and what do I see? Killzone shadow fall available for sale. Kind of odd to have the game out there and no system lol.

Any of you guys/gals played Knack at the Sony store? I found it to be a completely generic platformer.

...but just imagine all the fervor you can drum up by having people sit there and see the game every day but be unable to play it. They'll be chomping at the bit to get their PlayStation 4! :p

That's the point except the particle effect gimmick of Knack growing when he absorbs parts and shrinking when he gets attacked. Think about it this way. You have shooters (both FPS and arcade), racing games, action games, & sports games. All targeted to an audience that is more skilled in gaming. What is there for the younger people in the house? Maybe something everyone can play and not feel overwhelmed. Knack is Sony's answer to that question. Whether it is a good game or not I don't know. I'll return it unopened if it's bad and get something else with the money.

Maybe...I'll be stopping by this weekend to grab Knack and Killzone just cause lol. Doesn't seem as if NBA2k14 will be available before launch day.

Perhaps Best Buy put their own "do not sell before PS4 launch day" notice on those shipments. Gamestop sells anything as long as it's not street dated.

They can do like the rest of us did and deal with it. Nintendo hard wasn't because the games were hard mechanic wise, they were hard because of cheap stuff like invisible walls killing you and limited lives. Maybe with all the hand holding, everyone wins and gets a brownie at the end of the game garbage we get, kids need to man up and learn to actually accomplish something, not having it given to them.

Lol well, you know what I mean. Sony has touted Knack as the launch title that the whole family can play. I've also read that a change in difficulty can make it seem like a totally different game and it becomes very difficult at times.

Um...no...elitist attitude much here?

This isn't about making a game simple, it's about making it accessible. A big difference you should probably think about. Not everyone will play competitive games. Knack is trying to be the game that sets the PS4 apart at launch. A game that isn't about getting headshots or beating your opponent to a pulp.

Eh, I don't know about that. I've heard that Knack is a lot harder than you'd expect, and that it might be too hard for kids. Maybe people have been playing it with the difficulty turned up... I'm not too sure.

Difficulty change makes knack a different game.

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/aei/20...ficulty-makes-knack-a-different-game-preview/

the challenge that game director Mark Cerny and his team faced with Knack is making it accessible to different audiences. He says there are two demographics. “One is the core gamer drawn to mascot games,” he said. “It’s designed to be challenging.” The other is for novice players who have never picked up a controller in their life. “Easy mode is a different game,” he said.

I had some hands-on time with Knack and the change in difficulty gives the project two distinct feels. On Normal, it’s comparable to Bayonetta, where players have to read an enemies moves and react quickly, pulling off a bullet-time dodge and three-button combos. It can be punishing and players will die A LOT. On Easy, the game feels more like a Skylanders title. Enemy movements are slower giving players a window to attack. Obstacles aren’t as punishing

im not even why the difficulty in knack was brought up. games like ratchet and clank are some of the easiest games out there, but they are extremely fun and have great stories, and are much longer than most games are.

i think knack does look somewhat generic, but the production values on it more than make up for that because it looks spectacular and is presented in a nice manner too. i mean hell you have people calling god of war a "generic button masher". who cares what people call things?

I brought it up because it's important to understand that Knack can be brutal hard or super easy just by playing on Easy or Normal. This makes it accessible to more players so it can be enjoyed by more people in the home. I can play on Normal but maybe my friend's Son can enjoy it on easy and keep occupied when we hang out and watch the game. This all doesn't matter if the game ends up as a turd. Reviews will come and that's when I'll make a decision.

Just picked it up. Had $40 or so in credit so figured I'd check while I went out to lunch.

No worries, was just messing around. Those are the kind of games I play on console and I have no problem admitting it. ^_^
