That may be but I certainly didn't notice the perfection with GT 5, especially the horrid menu system.

Oh, don't get me wrong. They may strive for a sense of perfection, but whether they make a great game or not... that's really up for debate. 😛 Just take a look at the original Final Fantasy XIV release.

I'm one of the few people who prefers the Vita over the 3DS. It's a really under-rated system. Proper remote play is one of my most anticipated features for the PS4.

The Vita is a nice system, but unfortunately, I don't have a 3DS to compare it to. I did try playing my DS earlier, and goodness... I couldn't use it! The system is all glossy and slippery, which made is incredibly hard to hold.

The one nice thing about a Vita is that Sony has given away quite a few games for it through PlayStation Plus. I actually own a few games physically and through that such as Rayman Origins and Uncharted.

I don't see anything pretty about GT5 vs Forza. If anything Forza looks better. No, Polyphony Digital goes out of their way to model crap nobody except people who drive real race cars care about while ignoring the AI, the fun factor and cutting corners on the textures of the track's background.

lol, yeah forgot about the AI but you're dead right, you feel like you don't exist and all the other AI drivers feel like they were designed so that one is always dead last and the other is always first with every other numbered accordingly. Getting the licenses is certainly an exercise in frustration and so many of those "so close" moments.

I don't agree on the portables. Games like Uncharted and Wipeout that Vita seems to focus on, are the type of games I want to play more hardcore on an actual console with appropriate graphics. Super Mario and Zelda are the type of games I would want to play on a portable device. Plus 3DS has lots of exclusives that don't feel like gimped down versions rather their own variation and built from scratch for 3DS, more oldschool but still tons of fun to play. On Vita it's like they made a second version of the main game as if an afterthought to toss the old dog a bone. I don't have a vita but have a PSP which is the way it was on there and looks to be the same on Vita. It's all about the experience.

I also like my Vita 10 fold more than my DS. Actual thumbsticks go a long ways and it feels like integration into the PS4/PS+ environment is coming along nicely.

I read an article on IGN earlier today that detailed some more information about PSN and logins. Here's the gist from what I remember:

• As a PlayStation Network user, you will specify one PlayStation 4 as your primary.
• Anyone that uses the machine will share the benefits that the owner of the primary PlayStation 4 has.
• Benefits include PlayStation Plus access (i.e. online multi-player) and any digital content owned by that person.
• If you login elsewhere, you can use any of your content.

In other words, it's the exact same as the XBOX 360 except you specify the primary console versus it being arbitrarily assigned based on whichever console purchased the content.

Oh, and you can only log into two consoles at once: your primary and one other.

Really? That's interesting I preordered 3 games at best buy but I've never got an email. I did this in the store so I didn't supply an email but they have it since I get rewaedzone emails all the time.

I got my controller though and after plugging it into my PC here's what I got. No drivers needed, windows just recognized it and all the buttons function. The touchscreen also acts as a button when pressed down. The triggers are recognized as X rotation and Y rotation and the analog slider in the test screen moves as it should. Might be able to get them to function as analog but I don't have any games installed that can use analog triggers at the moment.

All 2TB HDDs that are 2.5" form factor are 15mm in height. The PS4 can only accept a maximum of 12.5mm in height so only up to 1TB drives can be used currently. Even 1.5TB drives are 15mm.

I'm betting later that Sony will have some custom drives for purchase for a premium. Anyways, I never play more than one or two games at a time. In a given year I buy 3-4 games if I'm interested. Doesn't look like I'll buy more than cod, bf4, watchdogs this year. Maybe infamous later but I only played the original and wasn't too thrilled with it despite it being pretty good.

If you didn't like the DS, you won't like the 3DS either. They're the exact same form factor. My problem with it is lack of games I personally find interesting. I'll probably pick up the new Pokemon but not until December at the earliest.

The Vita's problem is still the price of the memory cards. It has a very strong launch library but I think that scared a lot of people away. Sony was stupid to use a proprietary format. It's good that indie devs are working on stuff for it. Big devs have been very slow to adopt it. I'm stoked for Borderlands 2 though.

It's bigger, in a good way. You have more space between the analog sticks, and more space between the right analog stick and the face buttons due to the tops of the sticks themselves being reduced in size slightly and moved over a bit. The sticks have less of a cheap feel, they aren't as loose and feel tighter. Closer to the Xbox sticks I'd say. The analog triggers are much improved and the L2/R2 are curved to allow your fingers to rest comfortably on them and they stick out more with a little tab so you have something to press on. They aren't mushy like the PS3 at all. They are very solid and at the end have a noticeable point where they end so there is no squish to them after the end of the arc. The L1 and R1 are a little smaller than the triggers but easy to hit and have a solid feel as well. The sticks themselves have a little bit more texture to them and they are made so that your thumbs can rest inside them instead of on top. They are concave now so you won't slip but have a noticeable little bump in the center that you can feel. The D-pad is actually an 8 way pad now and a little less stiff feeling than the PS3 controller. Seems like it would be even easier to play fighters on now. It's raised up a little bit more on the 4 edges and the buttons are larger with a bit more of a curve to the whole thing. It's definitely not as flat as the PS3 d-pad. The whole controller is covered in a matte finish except for the circle that the d-pad and face buttons are set into. Even the touch pad is matte. The back of the controller is textured plastic that I at first thought was rubber. It's a very fine texture so it does not feel rough but it's enough so that the controller won't slip. The options and share button will take some getting used to hitting if they are ever used in any capacity.

Overall it's more solid, a little larger but in a good way giving you more space, with vastly improved analog triggers and more solid buttons, improved analog sticks that definitely will provide better control, and what I feel is an improved d-pad as well. Side by side the PS3 controller feels like a child's toy by comparison. It's really that striking at first.

I played SSFIV AE on PC with it for a couple minutes and could execute every move fluidly and without issues using the dpad. I'm in the process of installing Dirt 3 to see if I can get the analog triggers to function.

I also rarely play more than 3-4 games simultaneously, but with the push toward digital downloads, I foresee this becoming more of an issue. I personally don't have a bandwidth cap with my ISP, but many people do. Eating up 50 GB at a time, it won't take long to reach that cap. I would prefer to download and install the game at my option, then, play whenever I feel the itch.

Yep, a stock 500GB HDD has something like 465GB after partitioning (they measure HDDs in an arguably deceptive way for marketing speak). Bet on a modest hidden partition for recovery, say 25GB, takes it down to 440GB. Then take ~30-40GB for OS/apps/packed in BS/etc. That takes you to ~400GB OOB. So, if games average 40GB, you have room for 10 games (or more likely 9 since saves will take some space, and probably some temp/crap space usage over time). Add in some digital music downloads, app downloads, a couple HD movies, and that size gets considerably more cramped. TBH, this is probably even more of a problem for Microsoft given their tendency to bloat the hell out of things. I recently installed XP SP3, Libre Office, Firefox+Chrome, Foxit, AV, Firewall, etc, and the entire installation was way under 10GB. Recently installed a clean system with Win7 64 SP1 on a 120GB SSD for someone, and 36GB was consumed by Windows alone. Just for kicks my Ubuntu box with a generous install (left most things on defaults), and it's well under 10GB as well, with Linux equivalents to all of the above.

Given that both start out at 500GB, and drives are pretty cheap, I guess I'm happy they stuck with $399 and a 500GB. 1TB would have been awesome, but I'm not going to complain.

You're right that this WILL crop up in the forums fairly quick though. I know way too many people that simply refuse to uninstall old games for a long time. A busy household with multiple players could even run into it with everyone wanting to have a couple of their own games installed.

That's why they didn't drop physical media for this generation. There's a lot of core markets Sony and Microsoft deal in that have rubbish broadband. North America is one of them. It's well known that the cost of broadband is much higher in the US & Canada than in Europe, Japan, and Korea. Speed and data caps also tend to be lower.

Fortunately, I don't see 50GB installs becoming commonplace. PC games comparable to what the next gen is capable of aren't that big. I think my biggest ones top out at 18GB. I don't realistically see it growing from there. 50GB games are not unprecedented. MGS4 took up the almost the entire disc. These extra big games are due to pre-rendered cienamatics. HD video takes up a ton of space. Especially if it's done in Blu-ray quality. Most developers now render cinematics in real time using the in-game engine. It's far more efficient, and I would argue more immersive.
