It's a sad story for iOS users. They trade in a more useful app for a "prettier" app. Google is the undisputed leader of map data worldwide. Street view, navigation, traffic, public transit, walking, satellite data, integration with their constantly updated business/residential directory. They update GMaps once a month it seems, while iOS will get a revision every year with the new OS update. Gone is Google's unbeatable mapping data set, replaced by 3D views with flyovers.
Apple partnered with TomTom (TeleAtlas) for their mapping data. Poor choice. Everyone knows Navteq (used by Garmin, Nokia) has better data.
