I snagged that exact deal but they carry Cholula in grocery stores in my area too.

This is my favorite flavor:

cholulaCHILIgarlic_1024x1024.JPG

Found the chili-garlic version at Ocean State Job Lot, dang this stuff is GOOD! Right up my alley taste-wise, as far as heat/flavor/being mild goes. I tried the Chipotle version as well, but meh. Chili Garlic > Regular > Chipotle. I'll see if I can find the other flavors to compare. I put it on eggs & pork belly this morning, super dope!

I find chipotle a pretty meh flavor in general. It's always better than no hot sauce, but it's my least favorite expression from any brand.

I splurged for Truff recently. Way too expensive for what you get & also way way way over-marketed, but has a pretty decent, mild, complex flavor. I still don't know what to use it on tho. Like, Cholula regular & chili-garlic are a perfect match for eggs, that's exactly the flavor I'm looking for as far as something a little bit spicy at breakfast, but I haven't figured out what Truff excels at. It's pretty good, I just need to find a really stellar application for it. Especially due to the price, lol.

How's it compare to Taco Bell fire sauce?

Many folks seem to have difficulty with the simple concept illustrated below for some reason.

Strawberry ice-cream is :

the BEST FLAVOR EVAR!!11!!1!

VS:

Strawberry ice cream is :

MY FAVORITE FLAVOR.

Subtle but a significant difference nonetheless! ;)

The bottom line is that food is subjective. Simple illustration - my chocolate-chip cookie recipe:

1. My wife likes it with 10oz milk chocolate chips. For me, this isn't even worth eating lol.
2. I like it with 20oz Ghirardelli 60% chips, and at Christmas, 72% Valrhona feves. More chocolate bar than cookie at that point, lol.

Not only that, but I have a client who doesn't even like chocolate. Like anything chocolate. I have to make a special holiday good bag for her every Christmas that is 100% chocolate-free lol. Plus some people prefer thin cookies like Tate's, or soft cookies, or crispy cookies, or regular-sized cookies, or bite-sized cookies. All can be chocolate-chip, but Preference is King!

How's it compare to Taco Bell fire sauce?

So:

1. I actually really like Taco Bell's hot sauce. I think it's the best as far as fast-food condiment hot sauces go.
2. Although none of Taco Bell's sauces are actually really hot.
3. Truff is mildly hot, probably around a medium on the Taco Bell Sauce Scale.
4. The flavor is a lot more complex, however. If it was like a $4 bottle I'd probably buy it again, but at $18, nah. Definitely worth a try if you have a few extra bucks hanging around tho!

I always ask for my food "Thai-spicy" when I eat at a Thai restaurant per my friend the food-reviewer.

Apparently this is Thai restaurant secret code for melt-your-face-off spicy. I've had waiters and managers come close to making me sign a release before they would serve my food.

My partner cooked at a Thai restaurant for a couple years, the server would adjust the heat level customers ordered if she didn't think they were ready for it. They officially had a scale of 1-5, so if someone ordered a 5 and she didn't think they could take it, she'd knock it down to a 2 when she brought the order back. Occasionally people still complained it was too spicy :p
When she brought me an order of chicken home, it was usually a 7. She accidentally made a 9 and brought it home once... it was pretty damned hot, but I still ate and enjoyed it. Wouldn't necessarily do it again on purpose, mind you.
I went to Burger King yesterday for the first time since March. I bought me the new and improved whopper (all natural blah blah blah) and some fries.

That was a damn fine burger. Way better than anything at McDonald's.
Huh, they re-did theirs too? Might have to give it a go. I didn't care much for McD's quarter pounder before they re-did theirs, and now it's a decent burger.
Their fries have been much worse since they started changing them back in the mid-2000s (I think I recall two overhauls)

I got the chipotle too, it's decent, but has a weird undercurrent that puts me in mind of Spaghetti-Os. Not a good thing :p

I generally prefer chipotle hot sauces, but aim for chipotle habanero mostly.

Yes, they have been going on about it for over a month now both in the US and Canada. I live in Canada as you may or may not know.

The burger was very good. I haven't tried the "new" 1/4 pounder.

Now if only KFC would step up their game.

I have very limited exposure to commercial campaigns other than what shows up on YouTube :p

YES! It's got like that cheap canned tomatoy flavor haha.

I'm still on the hunt for the other flavors. So far chili-garlic is my favorite, followed by original. Really good on eggs! I've been making candle-jar omelets in my APO. Le fancy breakfast with my Dollar Tree champagne flute filled with Gatorade:

So, I can take or leave mushrooms. But I saw this crunchy seasoned mushroom snack at Costco (never seen a crispy mushroom before!) & because I always try something new whenever I go, I went with this shiitake snack. SO GOOD! As a mushroom eater but not lover, SO GOOD! This would make an AMAZING savory snack mix addition!

I like to make shiitaki bacon in the oven:

thin slice shiitakes, drown in olive oil and much salt, lay out in single layer, bake at 400 until crispy and dry. Tastes just like bacon, similar texture. Great on top of a simple marinara sauce.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a burger king vs Mcdonalds thread with fighting like what happens in the tech section. Can we all agree that both can give good good performance, and both have applications for different users?

Uh, I mean, both taste good :p

Well, Arby's is better than all of them, so pffft.

Popeye's new Chicken Nuggets. Pretty good! Sort of like when you make chicken nuggets at home using panko crumbs, not your traditional type of nugget. The Sweet Heat sauce is surprisingly good. I'd eat it again!

I think they redesigned them & brought them back. They're not on the website yet (they're nuggets, not tenders, and are flakey like the sandwich, not like McDonalds nuggets where the flour coating is tight around the chicken). Maybe I'll get a picture next time lol.

Wendy's Breakfast Baconator:

So, I wasn't too impressed with any of Wendy's breakfast items. But they came out with the Breakfast Baconator & I'd definitely get it again! It's got a decent bun, plus sausage, egg, American cheese, bacon, and Swiss Cheese sauce. For a fast-food breakfast sandwich, they did a surprisingly good job with it!

Plus the macros are epic: 730 calories, 34 grams of protein, 36 grams of carbs, 50 grams of fat.

Arby's is close by and pretty good, specially their turkey sandwich's, oddly, I don't like their roast beef very much since it's way overcooked and taste's heavily processed. They do have a good 2 for $6 item list as well. Wendy's is also close and generally good and currently has a great 2 for $5 choices. Fuck McDonald's, it's not that the food is bad it's them running a buy one get another for $1 special then stopping it after 10 days, for example the Wendy's deal is almost 2 full months long now.

I fry boneless chicken breast in butter to a perfect 170, let them get cold then put together 5 or 6 sandwiches.
Presto, grab and go fast food, high protein, little fat and mostly delish.

Ruffles Baked Flamin' Hot Chips:

Pretty good, would buy again! Good flavor, good heat, and baked (too old to do fried anymore lol).
