Well, I know one of my goals for this weekend.

Yeah me too. I'm just starting out with an orc and have a mace that does 14 DMG. And it's a good one. 800+ DMG off a 70 base is just crazy. I'd like to see deadric enchanted to max.

I figure with berserker doing double damage on top of that I'll one shot anything in the game later.

Back-stab will be 24x!!! So like 24,000 DMG!!

I just had the craziest battle ever...
Was walking over an outcropping, looked down and there were 2 wolves that saw me and started running up to kill me. While I wait to fry them, a sabertooth cat comes up from behind me and takes a swipe at me, causing me to panic and fall off the edge of the outcropping. Doing this aggros 2 frostbite spiders, then a dragon lands nearly on top of me. I start trying to take out the wolves, cat, and spiders at this point, when a cave bear runs out of the woods and starts wailing on me. I back away so I can try to get everyone in front of me, and hear the sound of a swarm of angry bees behind me as two spriggens start beating me up! I hope the dragon will aggro some of it, but nope, everything is on me. Lydia kept the wolves and cat busy, i burned down the bear as fast as I could, then the spiders, then the spriggens, then finally the dragon. My wife looked over at me as I sighed with relief with a "what the hell just happened?" look on her face... I'd imagine my breathing got a little frantic and my muffled shouts of "really?" "oh man wtf was that" "son of a bitch!" got louder and louder...

AMD CAPs UPDATE

AMD has released CAP 2 for 11.11 drivers and they DO NOT include optimizations for Skyrim.

Just got to level 8. I have ~30 smithing. Should I be worried about skilling it up much farther? Any real downside to leveling through smithing for a bit vs combat to increase heavy armor block and one hand?

Also i think I may end up taking the Bleed with Axe's perk in 1h vs the armor ignore with maces. I have only seen like 4 or 5 armored characters my entire time playing and tons more unarmored where the bleed would be effective. 20% crit just seems underwhelming.

Indeed. Perhaps Skyrim is proving to be particularly hard to write an Xfire profile for? There are also other bugs that I think will require another driver release to fix, 11.12?.

I got Skyrim a few days ago, LOVE the game. I'm currently 26. I started out as destruction then realized I did not like that so started going sword & board. I pretty much destroy and "normal" mob but bosses wipe the floor with me in 2-3 hits. Especially casters. Is it normal for standard mobs to be a cake walk and bosses be almost unbeatable unless I turn down the difficulty?

This is what flames in my game look like. Not things like torches or dragon breath flames but anything that is set on fire looks like this.

Looks like something wrong with the texture transparency/alpha channel/mask. :hmm:

I have dual 6950's using 11.10. I was gonna update once they came out with a "working" cap for skyrim.

Yeah Xfire setups seem to have some of the worst bugs at this point. Both textually and frame rate wise. I can't wait till they have a good cap for the game, 5970 here.

Quick question on this, can someone tell me where he is that has all the tools in one place?

Looks like Whiterun. The castle (Draonsreach I believe) has a room with enchanter/alchemy lab right next to each other, and the smithy at the front of the town is where he did the upgrades on the sword/armor.

Be careful with dismissing your companions. I sent mine away and half an hour later I got a letter saying she died, presumably on her way home.

Had one of my toughest fights yet just now. It was 2 berserker type bandits in a castle, one with a war hammer the other with a battle axe. They were obviously high level because even with my full set of steel plate armor they could kill me in about 3 hits. Took about 4 reloads before I got them. BTW it's so awesome that enemies can use finishing moves on you. It's great when an enemy knocks you down and beheads you. D:

I just blew all my gold on a house... Hope that wasnt a mistake, lol.

No. It's just 5k. Seems like a good amount at first, but it's not. Just paid a 7,500 bounty and didn't even care.

If you do a fair amount of exploring or take your time in the dungeons, you'll find lots of stuff to sell. I don't even do all the other things, like make items, enchant, etc that you can do for more gold.

Come on. tell the truth. You didn't dismiss her. You left her in a ditch for dead and looted her corpse. Didn'tcha?

Dunno if it's been mentioned in this thread, but if you are concerned with keeping your companions alive, give them healing pots. They'll use them.

I had an interesting encounter recently. I was adventuring around one of the forts, I had just cleared it of bandits and walked back outside, and a group of dudes in full armor and wielding big glass weapons came walking in through the front gate of the fort. They didn't appear to be hostile, thought maybe they were a wandering band of guards or something. I walk up to them and they say something about revenge or some nonsense and attack me. VERY difficult fight, these guys had some really nice equipment. I find a note on one of their bodies, apparently they were hired by Annekke Crag-Jumper to rough me up, apparently for stealing from her.

Now this was interesting because I don't remember ever meeting this character. So I did a bit of googling and discovered she is actually a quest giver in Darkwater Crossing. I traveled over there to have a little chat with her, but the only options I got were to accept the quest she gives out, something about clearing out a bandit cave. I had thought for a minute that I had stumbled upon a quest I hadn't accepted yet, but the quest she gives out doesn't seem like it would cause an assassination attempt on your life (and its not to the same location as the fort I encountered her assassins at), and the Wiki page has no mention of this NPC taking out contracts on you (and apparently she can even become your follower!).

I'm wondering if robbing people or their houses can cause this little mini-event to happen every once in a while. I had previously been to Darkwater Crossing (and robbed her house), but I had never met or talked to Annekke herself. Very interesting...

Yep, I've seen other people mention that happening. In my current game someone has sent the Dark Brotherhood after me, haven't figured out why yet (this is a "good" character). Probably pissed someone off during a quest.
