Yeah the dual wielding implementation leaves much to be desired. They should have made it so that left click attacks with both swords (two attacks with one click, so it's actually faster than just using one weapon), and right click blocks/parries (obviously not as good as a shield).

*adds to mod checklist*

Agree 100%.

We should be able to parry even with a 1handed weapon and a spell equipped.

Agreed. As it is now it's bulky. In theory I should be able to get at least 1.5 to 2 hits in the time it would normally it would normally take to get 1, but because you have to constantly work the weapons independently its difficult to stay sync counterswings let along optimize strike speed.

Has anybody become a vampire? I'm interested in becoming one because I think it would fit my wood elf assassin illusion using character really well. My question is, do the vampire drawbacks happen even if you're in a dungeon during the daytime? I can't figure out if it's strictly the "sunlight" that weakens you or if it's the time of day.

Bethsoft can't be that dumb, I'm pretty sure it's sunlight.

there are too many good games for me to play =[

Yeah, my current list is:

Skyrim
Batman AC
Dark Souls

In addition, I got hooked on Re-playing Icewind Dale/HoW just prior to Skyrim coming out (I was under the impression I was not going to get Skyrim till later and figured I had time to complete) so that game is about a quarter finished. :(

And even thought it is getting HORRIBLE reviews, i have a sneaking desire to play War in the North. Always been a Tolkien fan and have played most of the games from that universe regardless of quality.

Not enough gaming hours in the day with work/family/school. I need an extra day each week just to stay sane (play games).

Yeah I think I'm just going to go for it. If it sucks I'll just
turn into a werewolf.

PS. Are there any disadvantages to
being a werewolf? I know the disadvantages while in beast form, but if you never change I don't think you see any drawbacks.

One disadvantage I have noticed is that upon awaking from sleep you no longer 'feel rested' and thus do not gain the xp bonus.

So can one theoretically become a werewolf vampire in this game? Werepire? Vampolf? Wolfpire?

No. Both conditions have a 100% disease resistance. Even if you contract Sanguinare Vampiris first, pretty sure lycanthropy is an instant onset and would cancel out the disease.

It's sunlight.

I don't agree with making a button typically used for one-handed being used for a two-handed attack, that just makes things complicated. But being able to block when dual-wielding would be nice, even if the skill suffers a penalty.

Can anyone tell me if random mobs out in the world/dungeons respawn after some time? I have about 6000 gold on tap (already have the house) and was thinking about spending a bit power leveling my smithing, but I'm worried about not having the ability to farm more later. That one bit me in DA:O lol.

I've been backing up every single possible save file into 7z archive every time i finish a session and uping it to Dropbox. Hopefully that will keep me away from being the next internet rage comic if my computer somehow goes to shit and I lose the saves.

I think mobs do respawn only if you take on a randomly generated quest. I took a warrior guild quest that sent me to a dungeon i've already cleared to rescue some random dude, and all the mobs were back up, actually tougher than before. Items in chests/shelves also respawned as well.

I should say that it SHOULDN'T have an issue if you start a new character. There could be a legitimate bug that affects some people though, so I'd backup the save in case something happens before you try it.

oh yeah good idea.

i have a 2h heavy armor guy now. thinking of going full sneak, dagger evil guy. or a evil mage type.

on the in-game tip menu it said that "cleared" areas will respawn after three days of in-game time.

Has anyone else been playing an archer and noticed there seems to be a range where the arrows stop doing any damage?

I may not be the best with the bow, but I know that given 30-40 tries I should be able to hit an animal as long as I can see it. The animals don't even react to my arrows landing near them like they would if I were closer.

So I did a little testing on this today, wish I could have made a video instead but I took 2 pictures to try and get my point across.

I could not hit the horse from here:

but I could hit it first time every time from here:

From the distance in the first picture, I could not hit that horse given 50 tries. It's impossible. Once I stepped up to the 2nd picture's distance, I could hit it easy.

I haven't noticed any problems with range for far, pretty much anything I shoot accurately gets dropped in 1 hit.

If I have a shield that gives me +40% frost resistance, do I need to be blocking for that to work?

Is anyone playing Skyrim on a Phenom II X6? If so, how does it run, and at what settings? My framerate seems to dip in cities and other areas with high settings (tweaked shadows, AA and AF turned off and forced through CCC) with my Phenom II X3 at 3.3GHz and HD6870. My brother has a Phenom II X4 at 2.8 GHz and HD5770, and it seems to run smoother on his system.

Besides Skyrim, I have no complaints about the performance of my PC. I'm wondering if I could get the buttery smooth playback I'm looking for if I upgraded to an X6. Otherwise, I was planning on saving up for a 2500k. I'd rather save money if possible.

I've heard that forcing AA and AF through CCC entails some performance hits. Maybe that's the issue?
