I don't think there was any question there would be a TES VI. Would be nice for them to really push the graphical boundaries on the next one. But that's not going to happen cause they will design for consoles from now on :'(

I would guess TES VI will be on the next generation of consoles, so it might actually push graphical boundaries like we would hope.

Can I share saved games between my PS3 and PC? Is there like an automagic way to do it with steamcloud?

The next set of consoles are supposed going to have the graphic processing power of about a GTX 560ti. So I wouldn't get my hopes up too much...

This. Consoles are always behind PCs graphically. Even when they release a "killer" console like the PS3 it's at best on par with your average desktop at time of release. If you look at games designed for the PC specifically aimed at the higher tier market, like Crysis, they consistently look much better than anything out for consoles.

So while I agree the next game will look better if they target next gen consoles it won't look as good as it could look if they target next gen PCs.

I want to make a magic-focused character. I'm debating which race to choose. I figure maybe the Dark Elf race because of the innate 50% fire resistance would be good for dragon encounters, or other fire flingers. They start with a high destruction skill, and have good sneak skills off the bat too. I'm not sure if the High Elves are worth sacrificing the 50% fire resistance. And Bretons bonuses don't seem all that great too. They have 25% magic resistance. What is classified as "magic"? Are shock spells magic? is it 25% against ALL magic, like fire, and cold, too? Also, their once-a-day ability that absorbs 50% magicka: Does that mean all magical attacks do 50% damage, or you will gain 50% of the magicka it cost the NPC that cast the spell at you?

Edit: I don't care about role-playing. I'm a min-maxer and don't want to regret my race decision 20+ hours into the game.

From what you wrote it sounds like you'll be absorbing half the magicka enemies spend while attacking you. Decent, for sure. In Oblivion, Bretons had a 50% resistance to all magic types, so that's fire/frost/electricity. Engage easy-mode. :)

They do as well in Skyrim, it's in the race description space in the character creation window.

The XBox 360 was on-par with the existing high end pc hardware at the time it was released. High end at that time was the 7800GTX and Radeon x1800. The Nvidia 8-series wouldn't launch until an entire year later.

November 2005 was a long time ago, but the hardware was extremely competitive with the bleeding edge high end pc hardware on release.

Yeah, I intentionally didn't check, I knew all the races inside and out from Oblivion and even if they'd made small changes to racial bonuses it wasn't going to determine my first character build.

This. And spend an extra year this time polishing it please. Don't rely on the mod community to fix all your mistakes please.

Polishing? You will be lucky if they even implement cool stuff made by modders...5 years ago.

5 years from Oblivion and we get a shitty main quest, and the College of Winterhold questline was obviously written by a kindergardener. For some mindbogging reason Bethsoft avoids implementing low-hanging fruits that will make their games a lot more fun with little effort (who doesn't want to shoot FLAMING arrows? Sorry, not in Skyrim) but instead wasting effort like Radiant AI, day/night cycles that nobody really cares about.

Given the latter was done in Oblivion, one begins to wonder what the hell were they doing for the past 5 years. Skyrim is a good game but still.

Do followers have predetermined stats that make them better at one playstyle than another? If I give Jenessa (my dark elf assassin) heavy armor, will this be wasting her 'sneak' archetype?

Anyone playing a battlemage/spellsword?

I'm currently playing a high-elf with a sword in the right hand and magic in the left. I'm kinda confused as to which magic schools to get perks in (minimal experience in previous TES games).

Really liking destruction so far. What other schools of magic really benefit a playing style of 50% magic/50% melee?

Not much of a RPG'er here, but damn, this game is fun. Maybe my next character will be a pure mage.

Consoles might be behind on a technical level, but they can put out a lot more than equivalent PC hardware (not because of pure power). I mean, the PS3 uses, what, something like an Nvidia 7800? The fact that it can run games like Killzone 3 at 720p is amazing given the hardware.

In Oblivion at least, NPCs had the same stats that players did and were assigned a class which determined their skill and stat distribution. I'm not sure how that will work now since there are no classes, particularly with companions who are (presumably) leveling up with you. We probably won't be able to get any solid answers on that until we get the Construction Set.

My guess would be that NPCs still have a "class" which determines their skills and combat AI.

This is due to the static hardware and API. When you have 4 or 5 years to work on making games for a target system and API that doesn't change you have time to learn all kinds of tricks and tweaks that you'd never come across or have time to think about if your target hardware was always changing.

Wow so I set shadows to high instead of ultra and my FPS must have tripled. Was getting ~30ish and sometimes lower on my GTX 580. Now I can run with full antialiasing and still get 80+ FPS.

Yeah, when you are talking about a game as massive as Skyrim where every other pixel and it's mother has a shadow, it makes a huge impact.

Seems like no matter what I set the shadows too they look all blocky and fidget around a bunch. They look terrible.

i'm already up to over 42,000 gold, hard to keep looting low level enemies anymore. I just killed my 14th dragon and have some spare dragon souls that im saving for 2 shouts i really want. I've decided that im a level 21 packrat, constantly getting over encumbered even though i can carry over 400 pounds

I've been plugging along little by little at this game. All this talk about perks and such are making me second guessing myself... I'm sitting on 2 upgrade points before I decide what I want to do. I feel like I should keep up the destruction tree but don't want to be manhandled so easily by the more powerful guys. Guess I can always try to powerlevel later if I get stuck, and focus on other quests.

That said, I'm really digging the game. I like how just chatting with the townsfolk will unlock sidequests. I realize that's similar to how it's been in the past, but it seems more natural now for whatever reason. Some of the voice acting has been pretty bad in spots, but nothing too distracting. The environments are just fantastic too.

, how in the hell have you done that? I thought I was doing good to get up over 7k at one point, but been spending money at trainers and a house which took up some coin (easy way to level up btw, just train a few times and if your close enough you get a new level out of it). I loot pretty much everything, and have more stuff than I can sell cause everyone runs out of money and still only at like 5k.

Ran across this tonight, any idea why this elk is glowing green like it was stamina enchanted? :D

It ran right up to me and then started to attack me, at which point my companion got it with an arrow.
