I'm playing at 2560x1600 on a 30" screen. Jelly too? :D

Actually I'm barely getting 30fps right now on high settings. Can't handle Ultra. Still it's enough.

Also textures look even worse on a screen of this size. But the increased level of immersion more than makes up for it IMHO.

Hmm ... I suspect my 5760x1080 eyefinity resolution will strain my pair of 5870s .... (game renders like 6000x1080 due to bezel correction)

 Wow. Let me know what kind of FPS you get on that. I'm very curious! You might also have aspect ratio problems since the game may never have been designed with that in mind. There are tools to correct this though.

I'm level 30 and my 2handed sword is still only doing 67 damage, and I have no trouble beating up random dragons. At this rate, I do hope that the game will implement some sort of scaling because everything will just blow up with that weapon in your hand.

On another note, not knowing better, I was trying to clear up all the Companions quests last night, not realizing that the quests given are infinite and randomized. It took me a couple of hours before I realize the quests are peculiarly generic.

I have the +25% for wearing all light armor, but I don't have the +25% perk for wearing a matching set.

Both the thieves guild and dark brotherhood armors are light armor.

Now that I think about it, the problem isn't with the dark brotherhood armor, it's with the thieves guild armor. It's like the game doesn't recognize the thieves guild armor as light armor.

edit: it seems like the DB armor is the only armor that gives me the +25% from the custom fit perk.

Well I figured out what the problem was after all. The DB armor gives you +25 to your armor rating if you wear the whole set. The only way to find this out is to equip it, then go into the "active effects" menu where it is called "fortify armor rating". Kinda dumb if you ask me.

Also, the way the perks work, like custom fit (+25% to AR if wearing all light armor) is by changing each individual piece's armor rating if you have all light armor equipped. What it should do is keep the individual piece's rating the same, and just change the overall armor rating, at least in my opinion.

Whatever, problem solved at least.

What's the deal with getting bonuses after sleeping? I decided to accept the werewolf transformation from the companion quest chain then noticed it saying I could no longer receive bonuses from sleeping. I never saw any bonuses pop up in the first place. What are they supposed to be?

When you wake from sleep you should see a message saying you now feel well rested. AFAIK the only thing this does is improve the rate of your skill gain for some period of time (no idea how long it lasts). Vampires also cannot get sleeping bonuses.

Sleep is for babies. Real men (or women) simply stand and wait when they want time to pass by.

I was happy with the damage on my sword at 28 :awe: and then i saw this

What puzzles me is that Bethesda continues to nerf magic more and more in each game, yet they have melee weapons like that...

Sometimes I miss Morrowind. So many interesting and useful spells that have long since been removed... oh well, waiting on the mods.

One difference I appreciate in this game is that the conjuration skill will only improve when you use it in combat. No simple summoning all day in town to increase it like in Oblivion.

Started reading my Prima 655p. guide. The page with all the trainers and their pics is awesome.

Toughest fight so far was a necromancer 'boss' who kept ice-sharding and napalm firebombing me while ignoring my fire atronach, like he knew I was the real threat (AI?). Finally found a spot behind a beam where his ice shards could not get to me. Atronach was wailing on him but, in the end, he firebombed himself when I duck around the corner. He was tougher than a hagraven, possibly because this mage-at-mage fight was in an underground keep in close quarter.

I hate being on the receiving end of those molotov cocktail spells. Must get it soon though.

I want to make a magic-focused character. I'm debating which race to choose. I figure maybe the Dark Elf race because of the innate 50% fire resistance would be good for dragon encounters, or other fire flingers. They start with a high destruction skill, and have good sneak skills off the bat too. I'm not sure if the High Elves are worth sacrificing the 50% fire resistance. And Bretons bonuses don't seem all that great too. They have 25% magic resistance. What is classified as "magic"? Are shock spells magic? is it 25% against ALL magic, like fire, and cold, too? Also, their once-a-day ability that absorbs 50% magicka: Does that mean all magical attacks do 50% damage, or you will gain 50% of the magicka it cost the NPC that cast the spell at you?

Edit: I don't care about role-playing. I'm a min-maxer and don't want to regret my race decision 20+ hours into the game.

Nah. The Elder Scrolls games aren't really sequels to eachother. They take place in the same world within the same empire (Tamriel). The first 4 games occur in the reign of the same emperor but across a span of years. Skyrim takes place I believe 200 years past the end of Oblivion. I haven't even run across anyone making mention of the events of Oblivion. It's a completely stand alone story. And in truth, so far at least, the gameplay and story has been better in Skyrim than any of the previous Elder Scrolls games, even adjusting for the limitations of their time.

Either the lady guarding the entrance to the mage university on Whiterun or the Nord apprentice in it mentioned the event of Oblivion. I wasn't paying attention.

CASHING!!

That means there will be a TES VI!

I don't think there was any question there would be a TES VI. Would be nice for them to really push the graphical boundaries on the next one. But that's not going to happen cause they will design for consoles from now on :'(

Hopefully not for a few years. I'd hate for TES to turn into one of those crappy "churn out a new game every year to cash in on the success" franchises. Mods should give us plenty to do for a long while, I wouldn't mind if they took another 3-5 years to really develop a quality sequel.

If they take a few years the next gen of consoles should be coming around ;)

This. And spend an extra year this time polishing it please. Don't rely on the mod community to fix all your mistakes please.

What are peoples experiences with enchanting so far? I've got it leveled in to the 50's but I'm still getting really crappy results from it. What is the power of an enchant based off of? Is it from your enchant skill level? Type of soulstone or type of soul in your soulstone? Do you need to take the perks to really make enchanting useful for something other than improving the sell price of your junk weapons?

How do I give npcs commands? What are the keys? I have been googling for 5 minutes and can't find it. The results are polluted with console answers.

I've only had 1 follower, but I could talk to her and one of the dialogue options was something like "I need you to do something" and then you could just point the crosshairs around and click on the object you want them to use.

You talk to them and there is an option that allows you to open a command crosshair. Not exactly sure what its called.
