Anyone gotten into the Dark Brotherhood yet? I killed an assassin of theirs that had a note on him to kill me, but that is the only thing I've seen of them so far.

I've got the character itch again...and it's a good sign for me.

I start a character...then I think "Damn I should have spec that way" then want to start over...

I'm playing a Nord Mace/Shield and added points in Lockpick (2) and in one other place where I shouldn't have...nothing game breaking, only 3 points but you know ;)

I love the revamped leveling system, works quite nicely and add some customization for your character. Love the way they did it even though many perks look like next one, like Light Armor and Heavey Armor both have +X% to armor if you're wearing all Light/Heavy. But it's ok with me and it even push you to "specialize".

Other thing I love, the races. Their look compared to Oblivion is night and day. We at least have some bad looking, dirty faces with scras and missing eyes. The models look bad ass IMO...like Eorlund (spelling), the Companion's blacksmith!

It's a keeper...damn can't wait to come back home!

Well crap. I loaded up my companion with phat lewt as we were on a treasure run. I'm flying up the mountain when I notice he isn't behind me. Figured he'd catch up. Waited forever and no sign. Went looking, no sign. Went in and out of nearby cave, no sign. Fast traveled home, no sign.

So, who the heck knows where my stuff went. The area was cleared of baddies. Hope he's dead. LOL

So I chased that dragon down, turns out there were two dead Necromancer's and a third was engulfed in flames when I got there. Dispatched that one myself and began fighting the dragon. I noticed there were hotsprings all around, my first time exploring this region... there was even a goat in one of the hotsprings... too funny.

While fighting the dragon I realize it's suddenly not attacking either me or my npc... but rather a Cave Bear has shown up and is now going mano a mano with the dragon. Perfect time for me to get some free hits in. :) The dragon dispatches the bear, moments later I finish it off.

More... SOULS!!

Rhezuss, I plan to create a character I like and then play it even if I think the build is wrong in one way or another. I want to once try and role play a role playing game to its fullest.
Also I have a question. I want to throw daggers - is it possible and what skill would that be?

Has anybody finished the main quest yet? I have never once finished the main quest in any Elder Scrolls games. I always do side stuff thinking I'll come back to the main, but then I get bored and never complete it. I'm thinking of just barreling down the main quest in skyrim and then doing all the side stuff. I don't want to do it though if it kind of changes or completes the game, you know what I'm saying?

I'm clearing whatever shows up my way while working my way towards the main objectives, not too much of a distraction for now.

Did that with Fallout New Vegas but never played a second game...I fear it'll be the same with Skyrim but maybe not...love the Vikingish atmosphere A LOT!

I avoid the main quest in Elder Scrolls games for this reason until I notice my interest waning, that's when I finish up the main quest and take a long break. I noticed in Fallout 3 that after I beat the main quest my interest in the game faded, I think I would have gotten more out of it had I held off on on the main story for later...

Right now I did complete the quest to reach High Hrothgar but I'm not eager to go much further than that for now. The journey to Hrothgar was awesome, highly recommended. Some epic vistas along the way, looks great at night too.

Ya, I'm in it. I haven't done a quest for them yet though, I just got into the hideout and got the armor (which doesn't look all that great, but it has some sweet stats). I feel like I shouldn't be running around towns wearing it though, doesn't that make it obvious I'm an assassin?

I had one of those assassins try to kill me as well, not sure why though.

Joining the dark brotherhood and thieves guild early was one of my first goals in the game. I loved those quests in Oblivion.

How do you do it? Sounds intriguing. Never really got into guilds in oblivion, I loved the arena for the most part.

Yeah In Fallout games pretty much all I did was the main quest and once that was over I was done with the game. I'm afraid if I finish the main quest I'll feel the game is over. I think I'm going to save it until at least finishing the guild quests. I do however recommend for newcomers to follow the main quest until you complete the greybeards quest. My first character I didn't do that and I never fully felt integrated into the game. My second character I strictly followed the main quest to that point and I think it helped me a lot in getting used to using the shouts. I never used the shouts with my first mage character cause I was always too busy balancing my spells and I'd forget the shouts existed. My new thief character relies on the shouts since I don't have any spells I use.

How many skills can you max (Perk wise).

Should we expect to only be able to max 3 or so skills and have a sprinkling in others? (without console hax)

Has anyone done the quest "Promises to Keep" in Riften, where you talk to the guy in jail about stealing a horse?

I elected to tell the mom about her son's plot. She told me to play along with them. So, I grabbed the horse, but now there's no update in my quest log, no marker? The guy who gave the quest and who's supposed to take delivery of the horse seems to have vanished. Quest bugged or am I missing something?

Thought I was going to get my first random dragon today. I was leaving Riften when a guard says a dragon was spotted south of the city, and I get a location update on my map. Went hunting but never could find him.

Did you also grab the papers? There's papers inside the house that I had to grab. After I stole them and the horse, I met the guy in the middle of nowhere to give him the horse. Of course, I killed him and kept the horse.

Just curious, is it doable for a Nord 2hand wielding plate wearing warrior to finish all of the thieves guild quests as well as the Dark Brotherhood quests?

OK so first I was having major problems with mouse lag in this game. I disabled V-Sync through the NVidia control panel and now the Y axis of the mouse is tied to my framerate. I went to edit some settings in the skyrimprefs.ini file and they simply aren't there... I tried to create a new skyrimprefs.ini file by deleting the current one, but the file wont create itself for some reason even when I make configuration changes... Can anyone tell me how to create a new skyrimprefs.ini file??

sigurros81 - yes, but some thieving quests can be tricky, you will have to spend much time honing thieving skills
dpodblood - copy skyrimprefs.ini to another folder, then uncheck "read only", edit what you need and copypaste it unto the original. Have a copy of the original somewhere, of course.

Is the distinction between heavy and light armour just that the heavy stuff is the metals and the light stuff is all leather and hide? Aren't there like light elven mails and things which are made of metal? If so how do you tell 100% that a piece of equipment is considered heavy or light?
