nice that you don't need steam to actually run the game, that might skew their active numbers a bit

Say what you will about the graphics... there are just so many areas where this game is gorgeous.

I really have no idea why people are complaining about the graphics, they are FAR from being even mediocre, nevertheless bad.

I don't get using strategy guides. Not hating on you or anything, just don't get them.

It really depends on the game for me. Something like Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout3 are worth it to me. Some games have really informative references and others like Red Dead turned out to be a waste. Personally, I like reading through them before bed and picking up little tips and extras that I didn't even know to google. I also like being able to thumb through lots of pages to find side quests that I missed or areas to explore.

Also, the books are still very accurate as patches come out as the quests rarely change. The only thing that you miss out on is the DLC

Yeah, we have to wait for the toolset to get real mods. I recommend going to Skyrim Nexus once the mods start rolling out.

There's only one mod I'm really looking forward to more than the others... dragon riding. :awe:

I was just about to say, they haven't released to tool set yet.

If you break the graphics down into their individual components, nothing really stands out. Some of the lighting effects are good, but that's about it. However, when combined, the graphics are really greater than the sum of their parts. Wonderful presentation and art style.

Another use for the Alt key besides sprinting is when you are riding a horse. It makes the horse fast gallop and doesn't eat up any stamina either so you can use it constantly.

Edit: Correction. It cannot be used constantly and apparently does eat up stamina, even though your stamina bar isn't displayed while riding a horse.

Just wanted to share my character too. It's a Nord, Axe/Mace and shield. The Shield Bash attack from the Block skill is really fun to use. It disrupt spell casting ans stun for a few seconds...enough to land a Power attack ;)

The second one is with a unique helmet I got from a quest...it's ugly but is nice when you're shopping...lol.

I'm running the game at Ultra, 1080p with some .INI tweaks. The only thing I changed is I force AA and AF from CCC and I put them off in the game options. Skyrim runs smoothly with these tweaks.

No darn it no. Had 5 CTDs so far (31 hours played) and 3 of them have come right as the dragons were about to die. Cheaters! :)

Think from now on I'll quick save during the battle. Got to love the random dragons burning everyone alive. :)

Nice helmet Rhezuss! Reminds me a little of Gladiator (the movie).

Graphics in this game are definitely a "the sum is greater than..." experience.

If you look closely, there's a bandit standing in the middle of the log. I'm sure he's just there to wish me a good day on my way across...

Couple things - has anyone found a use yet for the Argonian "breathe underwater" racial perk? I haven't even found anywhere deep enough that I could dive down into. In Oblivion this perk was useless but at least there were some areas you could enjoy it. So far deep water just seems nowhere to be found...

And has anyone used "Night Eye" yet? Is it any good or still worthless a la Oblivion?

Right off the bat I found a water breathing amulet, within the first hour or so, so that would have made the perk useless for me. I have yet to actually use it though, because I haven't found any deep water that I wanted to dive in. Water creeps me out in games anyway.

I'm playing a Khajiit but I haven't even used that perk yet, I keep forgetting.

There are underwater shipwrecks along the shore with stuff in them. I also ran into a very mysterious cave within a cave that had underwater loot. However, non-Argonians can just use the water-breathing spells or potion.
