I hadn't thought about that. Maybe that is what it was? I don't remember hitting the key but that might explain it. I never mess with the walking/running feature. I just leave run on all the time. I'll try to remember that if it happens again. Thanks.

it is right above crouch, and to the left of the "z" key--the retarded and unusable default for shouts. So, shift is surrounded by a couple of oft-used keys.

I know it's happened to me once.

We need a mod that lets you drop lit torches on the ground to light up the room/dungeon/cave you're in. This was one of my favorite aspects of OOO back in TES4, it's a small thing but ever so useful.

Especially considering how dark the game is now using Enhanced Shaders and Realistic Lighting mods.

I dont know why people cried about the Markath house. Its very nice and I like living in an old dwemer ruin. Plus you get a servant, lots of bed and dining space, tons of storage containers, and more weapon/shield displays than Solitude, not to mention a couple of dagger cases which I cant seem to find anywhere else.
Only downside is theres one mannequin vs. two in Solitude. BUT, the town has a smelter in addition to full smith services, which is nice.

Getting the Markath house is a pain, I agree. But only people who actually got it and saw the inside should be able to complain or compliment it.

There's a mage spell that lets you do that, I think. Never used it - I like the one that floats over your head. Totally replaced torches for me. Not really good spell for leveling your alteration skill (?) though.

Ok, at roughly 150 hours. I've explored 85% of the map and completely practically every quest (all the major guild quests), but have about half to a quarter of the main quest left. Sitting at level 73 with almost everything I want/need maxed with perks. Pickpocket and light armour are a bit more annoying to level, but I've found trainers.

Torches? I don't use them really. My elf thief-assassin did give one to his follower and he carries a torch. Kinda neat to see him walk around at night with a lit torch.

Just installed SkyBoost which increased my FPS at the top of the stairs in Whiterun from 19 FPS to 31 FPS. I saw a similar boost in Solitude.

Apparently, Bethesda "forgot" to enable SSE when they re-compiled the game for the PC, which shows how much effort they put into it. This mod simply intercept some of the slowest and most unoptimized calls and replaces them with more efficient versions in realtime. Imagine how fast it would be if this was done natively by the engine instead.. everyone would run this game at 60 FPS all the time at maxed out settings...

With the Enhanced Shaders + Realistic Lighting mods, torches or at least some other lighting source are fairly important. If you're playing vanilla shading, then yes torches are an after-thought.

While not ideal, there is a mod that makes torches burn forever so you don't have to stockpile them. I believe an unintended side effect of this mod is that dropped torches are always lit as well. It may have been fixed though.

I love sneaking + bow. They didn't know what hit 'em ^_^. Even at master difficulty, they still die at a one shot :awe:

Earlier today I was halfway going down a steep rocky hill, when what looked like a bandit just flew high above my head to disappear in the distance and presumably fall to his death. It was like another dovahkiin had fusrodahed him off the top of the hill. Limbs flailing even.:awe: Could not find the body though once I got on the level field. Maybe he had an encounter with a death overlord on the mountain top. The trajectory was too horizontal for it to have been a giant spacing the dude.:hmm:

It seems that Detect Life levels up your alteration faster the more people you have in view at one time. Tried watching a single person and it took forever. Went to Solitude and spied on 12 people, skill shot up.

Noooo... losing my save files and trying to start Skyrim again... It's so discouraging when you see an empty map when it used to be littered with markers before...

On the other hand, fighting a dragon with non 'legendary BADASS' weapons definitely makes the dragons a bit more epic. Too bad their AI is still terrible.

And trying to enjoy the immersion of the game by limiting fast travel is pretty awesome. I shouldn't have taken the taxi to all the cities on my last play through.

Try doing it at the Riften market place. I think it's supposed to be the fastest place to level it.

The plan was that once I'd get close to level 50, Aranea (who maxes out at level 30) would trade her follower baton to the similar Illia (who maxes out at level 40). She just did and Illia should be at level 40 since I made sure not to meet her beforehand. She sure throws a mean wall of frost and, like her predecessor, is deadly accurate with the ice spears. :D

Enjoy your retirement at Azura's shrine, Aranea, you have earned it and I will praise you to all. :)

Ha! Looks like the Radiant AI bestowed a contract on my head. Dark Brotherhood khajit assassin, all dressed in black garb, comes towards me menacingly, in full view, on the white ice pack north of Wilhelm. Poor sod never got closer than ~100m. :D

how do you apply patches for this game?im still running it at 1.10 iirc :(

Steam should be patching it for you. You can try verifying the local game files. Right click Skyrim in Steam library, click properties, click Local Files tab, then click Verify the integrity of the game cache. That's worked for me in the past when I've had flakiness with a Steam game.

I've had that happen twice or more now.
